That night, the tension was thick enough to choke on.

Liana sat at the long mahogany dining table, between Dante and Cassian, with Leo at the head. The chandelier above them spilled soft light over plates of untouched food. Normally, Dante would be halfway through a bottle of wine by now, Cassian would be correcting his posture, and Leo would be making dry comments that somehow made her laugh.
