Chapter 9. Choice

Lena blinked, surprised by his offer.

"Your bodyguard?" she repeated.

Scar nodded.

"Yes, my bodyguard. You see, I have many enemies in this city and beyond. Raiders, rebels, rival gangs, you name it. They all want a piece of me or my territory. And they will stop at nothing to get it."

He paused, looking at her intently.

"That's why I need someone who can protect me at all times. Someone who is loyal, brave, and skilled in combat. Someone like you."

He reached out and touched her hand gently.

"Will you do it?" he asked softly.

Lena felt a jolt of electricity run through her body at his touch. She quickly pulled her hand away, feeling flustered.

She looked at him warily, wondering what he was up to. Was this some kind of trap? Was he trying to seduce her or manipulate her? Or did he really trust her enough to make her his bodyguard?

She decided to play along for now, until she could figure out his true intentions.

"Sure," she said hesitantly. "I'll do it."
