One week had passed since I took the job at Miller Corporations as my Step-father’s personal assistant. I can’t lie there wasn’t any challenges, but Justin had been very patient with me, walked me through the ropes without minding the inconvenience.
I walked into Justin’s office with a steaming cup of coffee in hand. “Hey… I know it is almost noon but I thought you could use another coffee since you have got a lot on your schedule today.”
He looked up and smiled. “Wow, and I didn’t even have to ask. I know it has only been a week since you resumed, but believe me, you are the best Assistant I ever had.”
I raised an eyebrow, giving him a half-smile. “Oh, I know you’re just pulling my leg,” I said, my voice light but teasing. “But thank you anyway. It’s good to know I’m already your favorite.” I said as I placed the cup gently on the table.
He chuckled as he picked it up. “Believe me, you are the best.” He said right before turning back to the monitor screen.
I leaned back slightly, crossing my arms. “Well, if you say so.”
He laughed again, and I couldn't help but admire the sound of his voice. I looked at his arms; his sleeves were rolled up to his elbows, exposing the tattoos on his wrist.
The closest to his wrist was a date etched in elegant roman numerals, I had always been tempted to ask him what that date stood for, it must mean some important day for him. He also had a cute compass inked on his upper wrist.
“The meeting is in thirty minutes, you might want to comb your hair and fix your tie.” I said softly, my eyes locked on his tousled hair, he had probably messed it up from running his hand through it.
“Oh, please help me out,” he asked as he took his eyes off the screen for a second.
I nodded, my heart racing as I approached closer. If only he knew how much effect he had on me by just sitting there and getting work done.
I stood behind him and combed his hair backwards; he had very soft oily hair. I silently prayed he didn’t hear my heartbeat as I fixed his tie; the scent of his cologne did crazy things to my body, my hands were literally trembling.
“Okay, let me take care of that one.” He chuckled as he noticed me struggling with the tie.
I laughed shyly and stepped back, rubbing the back of my neck with my head down in embarrassment. “Yeah, I should probably pick up the files we need for the meeting, I will be in the car.”
Thirty minutes later…
I paced around the restroom with tears rolling down my face, why did this have to happen?
My phone rang for the sixth time, it was Justin calling. I couldn’t answer, what do I tell him? I had the files for the meeting but I couldn’t leave this restroom.
When it rang again, I summoned the courage to pick up. “Hello...” I tried to keep my voice stable.
“Olivia? Where are you? The meeting has begun already, did you miss the road?” there was worry and concern in his voice.
My voice failed me as I broke down in tears at the sound of his voice. “I am so sorry, Justin. I don’t know how this happened, there were no signs, it just came out of nowhere, I am so sorry.” I cried.
“Olivia? Are you alright? What happened? Where are you?” he asked immediately, his tone changing.
“I… I am… I am in the restroom,” I stuttered. “I sincerely don’t know how this happened, it came very early and the stain is much, I am so embarrassed…” I said amidst tears.
“Olivia calm down, what came? Take a deep breath and tell me what happened,” he asked.
I swallowed hard, holding back my tears. “It is my period, my skirt is badly stained and I don’t have any spares with me, I am a mess right now, I don’t know why… I… I…” the rest of the words were stuck in my throat as I began crying again.
There was silent on his end and then I heard the sound of a chair moving over the phone. “Justin?” I called nervously.
“Stay where you are, Olivia. I am leaving the meeting now and I will be with you shortly, just tell me everything you need and I will bring it to you.” he announced.
I froze, both scared and surprised. He was coming here? What about the meeting, was he going to abandon them?
“Wait, no you don’t have to…”
“Olivia, are you going to tell me what you need or should I call your mom and ask her?” his voice cut through my stammer.
“No! Please don’t call my mom!” I screamed immediately.
Knowing her too well, she would just yell at me, scold me for being careless, call me useless and blame me for everything.
“Okay, I need a tampon…”
Less than twenty minutes after listing the stuff I needed, there was a knock on the restroom door. My heart raced, unsure if it was him.
“Olivia, are you there?” I heard Justin’s voice call out to me.
I took a deep breath before slightly opening the door and poking my head out.
“Hey, are you alright?” He asked softly.
I nodded, looking down in embarrassment. I couldn’t bring myself to face him.
“I got everything you asked for, here.” He said, handing me a nylon bag.
“Thank you,” I muttered. “Just give me a moment.”
“Sure.” He said calmly and turned away.
I closed the door and walked to the restroom counter, I checked the bag and it had everything just the way I requested, a new pair of clothes, tampons and tissue, he even topped in a mini sanitizer and handkerchief.
I couldn’t help but get all emotional and teary, probably my period messing up my mood.
I quickly cleaned up and changed into the fresh clothes, then packed the stained ones carefully. I cleaned the bathroom floor where I had accidentally left a few drops of blood.
Today was the worst day of my life. I have had my periods since I was fourteen and there had never been a day like this. What would I have done without Justin??
After I was done, I walked out still feeling embarrassed and he once again asked if I was alright or needed something else. When we got into the elevator, I noticed he didn’t have his suit on, he had probably left it in the car and I felt bad for having to make him do this.
“I am sorry,” I said as we got into the car.
He turned to me in the passenger seat. “You don’t have to be sorry about anything, Ollie. Shit happens.” He replied softly.
I could feel my heart thumping in my chest. How could a man be so perfect?
Justin dropped me off at home before leaving for his penthouse where he spent most of his time. I stood outside as I watched him drive away in the Bentley.
If only he didn’t meet my mother first, she didn’t deserve a Justin Miller!
Maybe if mother had found me a man like Justin, she wouldn’t have any difficulty convincing me to get married.
Justin's PovOlive green was the perfect colour choice for Olivia's dress. As she stepped out of the dressing room where she had spent minutes, a satisfactory breath escaped my lips, a bodice dress with a cowl neckline that reached down to mid-bust level showing a portion of her chest area, while maintaining elegance. The dress had a halter neck strap that wrapped around her neck and as she spun, the knotted straps were revealed, the length falling gracefully down the backless cut that extends down to her waist. Her smile made the outfit better and something was refreshed in me, seeing her like that. "The birthday boy is not dressed." I had never thought being regarded as a boy could turn me on so fast. "I didn't…know we had somewhere to be" I stared down at my embarrassing shirtless self. After a bath, I put on shorts, lay in bed waiting for Olivia. I thought…"The day isn't over. So is your birthday." Her heels clicked on the polished floor as she walked toward me. She stretched h
Justin's Pov"You've got to be kidding me!" Mary pushed me slightly on the chest. We were alone, for now. It was still my birthday and this was the first time we had argued on such a special day. "There is no way you'll just take your bag and leave.""You heard the girl. She spent her savings on this. You always say she never cared about us, Look at all she did for a birthday present.""You are her favorite. I am not surprised, but I will not let you leave me alone on your birthday.""I remember vividly Mary, when all you wanted was Olivia to have a fatherly bond with someone. I came into the picture and it took her long enough to open up. Now she wants us to bond and you refuse?""Not at my expense." She spat. "This is not the time to build that bond" she frowned."When then, Mary?" I asked. She panted like this argument was taking all of her energy."I don't like this…" Her voice broke. "I had today all planned out for you and you'll choose Olivia over me.""I would not choose Olivi
Olivia's PovDays and days later, Justin was sleeping in his private room which made me glad that he was alone. I paced his door quietly, my eyes glancing at my wristwatch from time to time. When it was midnight, and I decided to knock, a shrill voice came behind me."Happy Birthday to you." In a sing-song tone, my mother walked toward the door with a cake in her hand. My hand which was on the doorknob left it and a slight frown crossed my face.I had waited all night long to be the first person to wish Justin, but here comes the interloper, prying into a situation where she was not wanted.Pushing me aside, she opened the door herself and walked into Justin's room with me following her behind. "Oh darling" she walked to the bed, placing the cake gently on it while she slightly woke Justin up with a kiss. "You slept off again." She said. Justin's eyes sauntered around the room, as he sat up. When he saw the cake, he grunted. "Oh, Mary, you didn't have to…""Oh, it's a ritual over her
Olivia's Pov"Meet me outside" his voice sent chills down my body."Okay." I obeyed, turning to Rico. "I am sorry, I have to leave now.""Hey. We have all the time.""I don't. I need to go now," I told him. "Eat without me."As I stood up from my seat, he stood too. "I have to drop you home.""No, you don't have to bother." I insisted. "That's what gentlemen do."I chuckled. "My dad is here to pick me up. We are going home, save the stress."He looked at me for a while, like he had a doubt. "I'll see you to his car then. Since the date is over, I also better get a rest." I nodded and walked out of the restaurant with Rico behind me. It was night already and a cool air pricked my skin. As I got outside the restaurant, I saw Justin standing in front of his car, his legs crossed barely above the other, his arms folded revealing his perfectly inked tattoos and tough muscles. A slight frown lit up into a typical smile when he saw me.Rico walked up to Justin with me and they made a famil
Olivia's Pov"You need a new haircut, darling"My mother's hand trailed Justin's hair, while he drove. With a heavy chest, I sat in the backseat watching the absurdity happen. She had waited until they discharged me, which I hated, as I thought I would be the only one in Justin's car. I had mostly felt disgust if my mother touched any of my stepdads, but for Justin, it was certainly jealousy. "If Olivia were married, her husband would have picked her up from the hospital, but unfortunately…""There's nothing unfortunate about it." I cut in.She slightly turned back to look at me and then was back to facing her husband. Justin's eyes met mine in the front mirror and my frown deepened. He shouldn't allow her to touch him while I am here. "Why does a woman still live with her parents? Have you no shame, You cannot do anything. No real job except for daddy's benefit, no man…""Oh, there's a man I am fucking!" I spat and the car came to a halt abruptly, one would think it was an acciden
Olivia's PovOne knock and then another, yet no one was opening the door. Justin was always early. Every morning, he had me sprinting to join him in the car. But this morning, he had not left his room. "Mum?" I knocked harder this time, my voice laced with anger. "Mum!" I banged the door. The door squeaked and then opened with my mother shooting me a deadly glare. "You're a witch, you know that." My mother blurted."Where's Justin?" I asked, my chest began to heave seeing my mum, wrapped in a towel, hair ruffled, and lipstick all over her face. Had they? Had they spent the night together having…sex? I swallowed hard. I shouldn't be thinking about this, right?"You should be at work not knocking on my door this early." My mum poked her fingers into my slightly open cleavage. "Justin is still asleep and will be staying home today, with me. You go do your job as his PA and give him feedback when you're done."My chest tightened. It had been five years since I had been bottling all of t
