The ocean breeze drifted through the open balcony doors, warm and lazy. The sound of waves against the shore was the only thing pulling me out of sleep. For a long moment, I just lay there, eyes half open, staring at the sunlight spilling across the sheets.

Mason was still asleep beside me, one arm slung carelessly around my waist. His hair was a mess, his breathing slow and even. He looked peaceful, like the chaos of the world couldn’t touch him here.

I didn’t want to move. Not yet.

Last night was still fresh in my mind, the way his hands had felt against my skin, the way he’d looked at me like I was the only thing that mattered. It had been reckless and terrifying and perfect.

My phone buzzed on the nightstand, making me jump. Mason groaned softly, his arm tightening around me.

“Don’t move,” he murmured, voice muffled against my shoulder. “Just five more minutes.”
