Thaila – POV

The council chamber was colder than I remembered.

The marble floors gleamed beneath my boots, but I didn’t flinch when the cold seeped through the soles. Let it try to bite me. Let them all try. I’d already fought my brother with cracked ribs and a bruised heart—nothing these old fools could throw at me would hurt more.

I stood at the center of the room, surrounded by stone walls, rusted banners, and tradition so thick it strangled the truth.

They sat in a crescent above me—twelve high-ranking elders, eyes like knives and mouths that hadn’t spoken truth since my father’s reign began.

At the head of them sat Alpha Eron—my father. Behind him, like a dark stain, stood Enzo. Dressed in black. Arms crossed. Silent.

Coward.

Beside him, with her stupid perfect hair and delicate hands, stood her. Isabella.

Not one scar. Not one mark. No blood spilled. No pain earned.

And yet she stood where I was supposed to.

I straightened my spine.

“You called for this hearing,” Eld

Isabella – POVBlood tastes like iron and smoke.I found that out when I bit the inside of my cheek hard enough to bleed, just to keep from crying out in front of the elders. Pride, apparently, is stronger than pain. At least mine is.Three days of training and I could already tell where every bruise bloomed on my body without looking. My ribs were a watercolor of blues and purples. My knees had more scrapes than skin. And my palms—raw, cracked, and bandaged—felt like someone had dipped them in fire every time I gripped the dagger hilt. But I was still standing.Still breathing.Still fighting. And they were finally starting to see me.Not as the Oracle. Not as Asher’s mate. But as Isabella.---Demian circled me like a vulture with abs. His eyes were sharp and mean, and he loved when I failed. Which, let’s be honest, was often.“You hesitate,” he snapped as I blocked another swing. Barely. “That’s going to get you killed.”“I’m trying,” I growled, dodging left and slicing up.He twis

Isabella – POVThe scent of smoke woke me before the sound did.It clung to the walls like a warning, crept beneath the door and curled its fingers around my throat. I blinked, slow and groggy, expecting Asher’s warmth beside me, his steady breath against the back of my neck. But the bed was cold.Empty.And the air?Too still. Then the howling started. Not wolves. Not human.Something in-between. Something wrong.I shot up, heart pounding so hard it hurt. My fingers scrambled for the edge of the bed, and I forced myself upright even though my legs trembled. The walls around me shook. Not literally. Not yet. But something was shaking the world.I stumbled toward the door and flung it open.Red light spilled in like a flood.Firelight. Chaos. And blood.Down the hall, Mason’s voice rang out—sharp, furious, commanding. "Guard the inner gates! I want wards doubled. Do not let them breach that second line!"“Asher,” I whispered, heart racing. “Where are you—?”And then I heard it.His roa

Asher – POV The bastards didn’t come for blood tonight. But they would. And when they did, I wanted them to choke on it. I stood in the war room now, staring at the map splayed across the stone table like the blueprint to hell itself. Symbols marked in red ink bled across the paper—watchpoints, barrier gaps, escape tunnels. Every inch of our territory was laid bare under the harsh light, and yet I still felt like we were missing something. Something big. A silence weighed heavy on the room. Not the kind that soothed. The kind that strangled. “Two of them were female,” Mason said beside me, voice low and laced with rage. “I could scent it when the wind shifted.” “Didn’t smell like wolves though,” Demian added from the corner, arms folded across his chest. “Smelled like grave dirt and old magic.” My jaw ticked. I hated that. I hated magic. The unpredictable, slippery kind that danced around instinct and twisted rules. “What kind of magic?” I asked. Demian shrugged. “Foreign.

Asher POVThe scent of fire still lingered in the air.Not the kind that warms your bones or crackles in a hearth. The other kind. The kind that spells blood and war and shadows creeping in where they don’t belong.I stood by the window of the central hall, arms crossed, jaw clenched so tightly it hurt. My eyes tracked every inch of darkness beyond the compound walls, every flicker of movement, every whisper of wind. Demian paced behind me like a caged predator. Mason sat with Isabella curled up against him on the couch, his fingers tracing absent shapes on her back as if to remind himself she was real.I couldn’t look at her yet.Not because I didn’t want to.Because if I did… I might fall apart. And Alpha or not, I didn’t have the luxury of falling apart. Not now.“Perimeter’s secured,” Demian said from behind me, his voice sharp, clipped, already high on adrenaline. “I doubled the watch. If anything breathes too loud out there, we’ll hear it.”“Good.” My voice came out low, gravell

Mason POVI didn’t sleep. Not really.I just lay there, wide awake in the dark, with Isabella’s body curled into mine like she was molded to fit. Asher was on the other side of her, half-snoring like he’d been hit with a sleep spell, and Demian was across from me, eyes open and glowing faintly in the moonlight like he knew exactly what I was feeling. We didn’t talk.We didn’t need to.Because the moment I let my eyes drift over Isabella—her lashes brushing her cheek, the tiny crease between her brows even in sleep, the way her fingers stayed curled into Asher’s shirt like she needed an anchor—I felt it.That pull. That pressure. That possessive, primal thing that lived in my chest and had a name I was too terrified to speak aloud for too long.Mate.And not just mate. Ours.Ours.We’d nearly lost her. Not once. Not twice. Too many times to count. And it wasn’t just that I wanted her. Hell, I did—wanted her with a kind of hunger that never fully went away—but it was deeper than that. I

I didn’t realize I had fallen asleep until I felt the warmth of fingertips brushing against my cheek. Soft. Gentle. Loving. I blinked slowly, the soft velvet beneath me still warm from tangled limbs and bodies pressed together like we were afraid of the cold finding its way back in. My muscles ached in the best way. My skin still hummed with the echo of their touch. But it was the silence—the kind of heavy quiet that only followed something sacred—that told me I wasn’t alone. “Hey,” Asher murmured. He sat at my side now, shirtless and glowing with heat, his golden eyes softer than I’d ever seen them. One hand was stroking my hair back from my forehead while the other rested across my waist like he couldn’t quite let go. “Did I fall asleep?” I asked, voice hoarse. “You did.” A soft kiss to my temple. “We stayed.” I shifted slightly, feeling the weight of another body behind me. Mason. His chest was pressed to my back, arm slung around my waist possessively, his breathing steady
