Chapter 3

Author: Wishing Heart
Blake's POV

"What did you just say, Wynnie? You know perfectly well that she's..." I choked up, my voice catching in my throat.

Wynnie grew impatient. "Enough. You're a grown man. Why are you being so dramatic? It happened ages ago."

Suddenly, Logan's voice came through the phone. "Wynnie, I need to use the bathroom. Come help me."

The sound of the call disconnecting made me feel like my connection to the world had been severed once again. It sent me tumbling into an endless abyss.

So, it turned out that she wasn't just taking care of Sam. She was also taking care of Logan and his sprained ankle.

Without hesitation, she had chosen to save Logan and care for him. Yet, she had thrown me to a rapist. To make it worse, she had that vile culprit save me and take care of me.

For five years, that ordeal had been a thorn in my side, a knife lodged in my heart. And Wynnie had cruelly driven that knife even deeper.

I screamed from the pain. And she said I was being dramatic!

Wearing a smug expression, Margaret poured a glass of water and handed it to me. I slapped it away. The water soaked her sleeve, but she didn't get angry.

She said, "Don't be so hostile toward me. After all, the highest form of intimacy two people can share is making love. Think about it. How many days of such intimacy have we shared?"

I bit the inside of my mouth until it bled and gripped the bedsheet tightly.

Margaret's disgusting gaze landed on the corner of my mouth. "You still like biting your lips, huh?"

As she spoke, she reached out a hand.

Startled, I smashed the vase beside the bed. Then, I grabbed a shard and slashed her arm.

"Get out!" I shouted.

The jagged edge sliced open my palm, and blood poured from the wound. Even so, I felt no pain at all.

Alarmed by my reaction, Margaret left the hospital room.

On the day I was discharged, Wynnie finally appeared. She carried a bouquet of my favorite flowers. She took me to the restaurant where we often ate during our dates and ordered the chicken gumbo I had been craving lately.

Throughout the drive home, she talked nonstop about Sam. The smile never left her face. To her, even Sam peeing on her face was something that brought happiness to her.

On the contrary, I felt nothing.

When we passed the courthouse, I spoke my first words of the day. "Let's get divorced."

Wynnie slammed on the brakes. "What did you say?"

She looked like she couldn't believe what she was hearing. Back then, even after she cheated on me, I hadn't even dared to mention the word. But now, I had brought it up myself.

Just then, a message popped up on her phone.

It was from Margaret.

She wrote, "Are you busy today? Blake is being discharged. Do you need me to pick him up?"

In an instant, Wynnie's eyes seemed to ignite with fury as she demanded, "Do you want a divorce because of her? It's only been a few days, and the two of you are already fooling around!

"What? Now that you know you have a child together, you're so eager to climb into her bed and relive the feeling of her forcing herself on you? You womanizer!"

Those humiliating words were like tight slaps across my face. I trembled with rage. Never had I imagined that was what she thought of me.

"I didn't—"

Suddenly, Wynnie unfastened her seatbelt and lunged on top of me. "You shameless man! So you like other people forcing themselves on you, is that it?"

She yanked open the buttons of my shirt and bit down on my neck.

"Wynnie, let go of me!" I screamed.

Using every ounce of strength I had, I slapped her hard across the face and glared at her. "Get out! Go find your lover!"

Wynnie's eyes turned bloodshot. She threw me out of the car, leaving me disheveled and half-dressed, subjected to the pointing fingers and judgmental stares of strangers.

Then, she drove away without looking back. I wrapped my arms helplessly around myself and endured the curious looks from passersby as I slowly walked home.

The villa that had been destroyed in the fire had centralized temperature control. Wynnie had specifically bought it for her postpartum recovery. Back then, I had taken care of both her and Sam. Even though we had a nanny, I had insisted on doing everything myself.

It had been exhausting, but I had felt happy and fulfilled.

Now, the villa was gone. Along with it, that peaceful and beautiful chapter of my life had vanished with the flames.

Blake's POVWynnie froze.I stared at her and bellowed, "Wynnie, all of this is nothing but physical pain! What I had suffered was the most painful betrayal! I was deprived of a child I should have had! My dignity was trampled on the ground like it was trash that was free for stray mutts to tear apart!"My entire body was shaking as my voice rose higher and higher. Seeing me break down and accuse her openly, Wynnie panicked. The regret surging in her eyes was so overwhelming that it was impossible to hide.I continued, "You guys destroyed me! I want your lives to rot and decay from this day forward until they're completely ruined!"I raised a hand and wiped away the tears at the corners of my eyes. Then, I took a deep breath. It was time to bring everything to an end.I pointed at the hidden camera attached to my chest. "See this? Everything that just happened was livestreamed through this camera."Wynnie shot to her feet. She stared at me in disbelief. After a long moment, al

Blake's POVBack then, Logan had treated that incident as casual gossip and spread it everywhere. I had hidden inside the house and didn't even dare step outside my bedroom. But what did Wynnie do? With just a few tears from Logan and just one claim that it had been "an unintentional mistake", she easily forgave him. She even took him out to cheer him up when she saw him crying. It had taken me a full six months before I dared to leave the house again.Wynnie's eyes dimmed.Once again, she said those words I had grown sick of hearing. "I'm sorry. No matter what, I hope you won't do anything reckless. I'll take care of everything."After saying that, she turned and left with determination, like she had made up her mind about something.Soon enough, less than three hours later, she told me she had taken care of everything. She brought me back to our former home.Logan and Margaret were at the top of the second-floor staircase, their hands and feet tied to chairs."It all started

Wynnie's POVLogan's eyes widened as he let out a shrill scream. "Have you lost your mind? How can you destroy my happiness for the sake of an outsider like Blake? I'm your brother!"I let out a cold laugh. "When you climbed into my bed, did you ever remember that you were my brother? It was all your fault. You ruined the life that Blake and I had together. If it hadn't been for you, we'd have been living a peaceful life with a child of our own. We would've been so happy!"Logan sneered, and his face dripped with malice. "Climbed into your bed? Out of the two times we slept together, weren't you the one who came to me? You think forcing Margaret to divorce me will help you win Blake back? Dream on! He hates you! He'll never forgive you for the rest of his life!""Shut up!" The veins on my neck bulged as my chest rose and fell violently. "Margaret, make your choice. Do you want this worthless man or your precious son?"Just then, the butler hurried into the room. "Mr. and Mrs. Jame

Wynnie's POVWhen I woke up in the hospital, there was no one by my side.I ignored the doctor's attempts to stop me and left the hospital with a bandage still wrapped around my head. Stumbling all the way, I made my way to the garbage processing site where my first child had been buried.Other than the day of the burial, I had never returned to that place. I owed that child far too much. But when I arrived, the scene before me made my heart sink to my stomach. The protective amulets placed over the spot where my child was buried had been broken into pieces. The small mound of earth had long since been dug open.A few employees from the garbage processing site were chatting nearby."A couple of days ago, some guy came here and dug around in the pouring rain. I thought he was looking for buried treasure or something. But he dug up an urn. It scared the hell out of me!""That man cried his heart out while holding the little urn. It was pitiful. Wynnie's POVIt was a maternity test between Sam and me.My eyes locked onto the final line that read, "Wynnie Moore is excluded from being the biological parent of Sam Ingham."The world became terrifyingly silent in an instant. All I could hear was my own heavy breathing and the dull ache in my heart.Sam wasn't my son!How was that possible? I had carried him for ten months. How could he not be my child? This had to be fake. Blake must have forged it to get back at me.Fury blazed in my chest. Like a madwoman, I tore the maternity test into pieces and scattered the scraps across the floor.Suddenly, I noticed some writing on the back of the report. I threw myself to the ground and pieced together the shredded fragments. There were two passages written on it. The first had been written the day after I had given birth. It read, "Honey, I don't know if I'll ever have the courage to show you this report. Actually, Sam is not our child. Blake's POVThe moment I walked through the door, I ran straight into Wynnie and Logan with their bodies tangled together on the couch. They didn't show the slightest trace of embarrassment at being caught.Without even sparing them a glance, I simply walked past them. By the time Logan entered the bedroom, I was packing my luggage. He was wearing satin pajamas that barely covered anything. His exposed skin had intimate marks all over it."Blake, Margaret slept with you for free for so many days. I only slept with Wynnie twice. I'm still the one who got the short end of the stick," he remarked.I ignored him and continued packing my clothes.Seeing that I was ignoring him, he became irritated. He immediately snatched away the little outfit I had knitted by hand for my first child and threw it on the ground. Then, he stepped on it.He jeered, "He's dead. What's the point of keeping this? You probably don't know this, do you? While you were crying over the loss of your child, I t
