Chapter 2

It was already eight in the evening, Vonn Richard-the only son of Don Alfred Richard who owned the biggest Mall in the world came home from London. When he arrived from the Airport, Mico the driver, was waiting in the entrance of the airport. When Vonn was near the car, he held open the door of the black Rolls Royce, and Vonn sank gracefully into the luxurious leather seat and adjusted the air-conditioning to its highest point.

“Welcome home sir!” Mico greeted him.

“ Thank you.” He replied.

“Home, sir?” Mico inquired again.

“Yes please.”he said. He doesn’t want to go anywhere else. What he want at this moment is to go home immediately and talk to his father.

“Damn! Damn! Damn! He uttered while they are on there way to his mansion. He remembered why he is coming home now. His father was a swine, Vonn muttered under his breath. He is now in his home in New York, away from all the chaos of London. As he slid down on his seat, loosening up his tie that seemed to grasp his throat, he remembered his father’s words.

“You have to get married if you want my company!” He had said.

“I’m old enough and my condition is going worst”. He added.

Before department from London, Vonn had decided to meet his father one last time and tell him to peace off, but his plan had completely backfired when Alfred had given him an ultimatum-Marriage.

The great Alfred Richard had also mentioned that he, as an eligible heir to the position of CEO, had to get married and that too, with a good and decent woman worth of being called Richard family’s daughter in law. Well, it’s not a big dealfor him to find a wife, because there are many women who fall for him. He is a very popular businessman in London. He is a handsome hunk man with a sharp features and tall, a really hot dude with a mucle, tanned skin with hazel nut eyes that if looking at woman makes them drop their panties.

Hell! All the women he knew were far from being good, or decent for that matter. They were cruel, selfish and utterly indecent, just as he liked, like Vangie her girlfriend, well it’s not girlfriend it just a mistress, he mused.

Vonn throw his cellphone at the bed with a thud! He can’t believe his ears when he finished talking to his father on the phone.

“ Baby , what’s wrong.” A female voice purred.

Out from the silver satin sheets, a beautiful woman was lying beside him. Her face was perfect; a perfect pair of eyes, perfect jawline, lips and nose, all swabbed with make-up. Her silky blonde hair looked unnatural, Vonn didn’t know why.

“ Leave! I don’t have time for this now, Vangie”. Vonn looked towards the vast window of his room and kept glancing at the glassy lake in front of his house.

“Why,baby? Last night was good.” The woman persisted, making his patience falter.

“Shit this woman is sick all she know is just have sex!” Vonn looked at her angry. N o one could seduce Vonn Richard. It wasn’t as if he didn’t get aroused. He did. Very often. But he didn’t let anyone know about his feelings. He rarely showed any emotion, be it love, compassion or anger and hatred. He just knew how to take.

“ I asked you to leave , Vangie!”. Vonn shouted at the top of his voice and maintained his no-nonsense face.

Vangie got up from the bed, threw her clothes on her body and left, not before giving him an icy glare. It didn’t matter. Right now, what was in his mind was his father’s word.

He massage his temples. They were aching like anything. The whole idea of marriage, the entire silliness of it, stressed him out. But he had a plan. He wasn’t planning on being tied into a marriage, a loveless, cruel bond of selfishness and uncertainty. At least, that’s what he believed.

He had seen what a disaster marriage could be, up close; felt it with his being when he had seen disagreements raging between his parents, shredding his ten-year old self into pieces, breaking every ounce of positivity in him. He had become lost, so utterly and ridiculously, lost.

“you love no one but yourself, Alfred!” his mum had screamed.

“ Yes, I am a cruel person, Kate. Why don’t you just leave me then huh?” his father angry retort. He remembered.

The fights, disagreements, the cold wars. Vonn had been tired of it all. Then one day, he again saw them fighting and her mother suddenly moved out to their house and drove away in the street where she meet car accident. They didn’t know if it is really car accident or her mother intentionally crashed the car into a big pole.

The horrid flash came in front of his eyes, the one he had tried to sweep into the corners of his mind, hidden and concealed. The pain in his head as he tried to somehow dust off the distant memory. The memory of his mum’s accident.

It was a murder. Not that his father was evil or had murdered his mum in some sick addiction. He was even incapable of killing a fly. It wasn’t physically done by him. It was his emotional and mental torture that had coerced Kate Richard to end her life.

What kind of torture?

Well the pain of staying relentless nights alone, going through trauma and depression alone, craving for her husband’s touch, support and love. She only craved, never got. Because she didn’t know how to take or how to mark something as her own.

Vonn wouldn’t do the same mistake as her, he wouldn’t be like his mum. He wouldn’t spend his days craving love, support and success. He would conquer; until everything he wanted belonged to him.

That’s what he did. And this time, that’s what would do. He would marry, even if it was a contract. With a devilish grin that seemed to round about his lip, he called up his lawyer in London, Mark Revera and asked him to about a contract. A marriage contract of six months. When he was informed that it was possible, he breathed in relief.

Now he just to find a perfect, decent girl. While he thought about how he could find a woman like that, he turned his eyes to the car window. It’s already dark outside, and there aren’t that many people to be seen there, and the cars are few and far between. He looked around at the remote party near the bridge and seemed he saw something strange. He called the driver and ordered him to slow down. It’s strange why does he sees like there was a small voice urging him to go near that figurine.

“ Mico stop for a while” he ordered.

When the stopped , he immediately opened the car’s door and got out, ignoring Mico’s question about where he was going. When he was near there he saw a woman lying, he called her but there was no answer and didn’t seem to move. He felt a sense of urgency, out of curiosity he touched the body and he saw that the woman’s face was full of blood. He was shocked and didn’t know what to do at first but suddenly he checked the woman’s pulse. He was given hope when he felt her pulse is still breathing. The woman is still alive, without thinking of what would happen next he called his driver and asked him to help him carry the woman’s body. They put the woman’s body inside the car and ordered the driver to speed up.
