RYAN

Ricardo’s gaze snapped toward me. "What?"

My heart hammered against my ribs. I needed to think fast… say something that wouldn't raise suspicion.

Because the truth?

It was Lucas who helped me. Helped me find my way into Ricardo's home.

Sure, I wasn’t doing exactly what Lucas wanted anymore, but deep down, a part of me still didn't want to stand here and watch Ricardo end him.

I swallowed hard, forcing my voice steady.

"Killing Lucas would be too easy," I said quickly, meeting Ricardo’s dark, burning stare. "Way too easy for what he’s done."

Ricardo cocked his head slightly,"Go on."

I exhaled slowly.

"Lucas burned down your warehouse. He threatened you, humiliated you. If you kill him now, that's giving him an escape. A mercy."

I paused, seeing Ricardo’s eyes narrow just a fraction.

"But if you take from him," I said carefully, "bit by bit, destroy everything he built, everything he loves... and make him watch it crumble? That’s real suffering. That’s worse than death."

RICARDOI didn’t understand. Punishment? What the hell was Ryan talking about? My mind spun, scrambling for a way to make sense of it all. But when I asked, his stare didn’t waver, and his lips pressed into a thin line.“No questions,” he said again. “Eat first.”I hesitated, then reached for the first spoonful. The moment the food touched my tongue, a flicker of memory hit me… poisoning. The whole mess. My stomach twisted, and for a split second, I thought about shoving the spoon away. But then I shook my head, swallowed hard and started eating, each bite slower than the last, all while Ryan’s eyes didn’t leave me. There was something in his gaze, it was calm, cold, and so intense it made my skin crawl. When the plate was finally empty, I dropped it on the bedside table and grabbed the glass of water, gulping it down quickly. My throat burned, but I forced myself to swallow every drop.“I’m done.”Ryan nodded and stood up. My heart started hammering as he moved to the black bag bes

RICARDO “You don’t get to say that,” he said, his voice hollow and strained. “Not after what you did. Not after what you put me through.”“I know.” I nodded, the tears still slipping down. “But it doesn’t make it less true.”For a long second, he didn’t move. He didn’t blink. Then, slowly… slowly he walked back to the edge of the bed.And sat.Not too close. Not far either. He didn’t speak. But he didn’t leave. And that… that was more than I deserved.I stared at his hand, resting there on his lap, his knuckles pale from how hard he’d clenched them earlier. My heart thudded painfully against my ribs, louder than ever.Just do it, I told myself.Slowly, I reached out, hesitating for a moment, afraid I’d shatter whatever fragile thread still held us here. My fingers brushed his first, and when he didn’t pull away, I slid my hand gently over his.I half expected him to yank it back. To glare at me. To shove me off and walk away for good. But he didn’t.He didn’t move.My throat tightene

RAFAEL“Get that gun off my face,” I heard Elena say. “I was just trying to get intel from Lucas. Do you have other plans set up for us?”I tightened my grip on the cold metal barrel pressed against her temple, eyes locked on hers. “Cleaning Lucas’s wound and stopping his bleeding? That’s collecting intel.”Her gaze flickered, and I could almost hear the wheels turning behind her eyes. “That’s the only way he could respond to me.”I took a slow breath, lowering the gun just a fraction but not enough for her to think she was safe. “I’m not sure where your loyalties lie, Elena. Not anymore.”She swallowed but held her ground. “I’m still with you. I’m with the plan. But you have to trust me.”I studied her, searching for the truth beneath the anger and pain. “Trust has to be earned,” I muttered. “If you’re playing your part… then prove it.”Was this girl trying to play smart or what? There was something off about her, something I just couldn’t put my finger on. Her words sounded too smoo

  • Stripper by Night, Doctor by Deception    Then I heard it

ELENAI stood still for a second, just watching him.Ricardo’s body hit the ground hard, like a fallen king with no throne left to rule. The noise around us didn’t matter anymore.I walked toward him slowly. Not rushed. Not panicked like the others. The men were shouting, dragging the wounded, salvaging ammo, rounding up what was left of the chaos. They were too focused on survival to notice me.Good.I reached him and knelt beside his unconscious form, brushing my fingers lightly across his jaw, leaving a streak of ash on his cheek. His skin was burning hot.My fingers curled slowly around the handle of the small blade tucked in my boot.I held it over his throat, just barely grazing the skin. His pulse was still steady. Strong. The bastard was alive.“You should’ve died a long time ago, I should’ve killed you, bastard. ” I whispered. “But no… you just had to be a hero.”I slapped his unconscious face once hard. His head tilted limply to the side, offering no resistance.“You arrogant

RICARDOI closed my eyes, ready for the worst to happen. Then…BANG!The shot went off.But it wasn’t me.A groan followed… long, guttural, filled with pain.I opened my eyes.Lucas had stumbled backward, dropping his weapon. Blood gushed from his thigh. He screamed, falling to one knee. And standing behind him, eyes dark and jaw clenched, was Ryan.“You talk too much,” Ryan muttered.Lucas snarled through clenched teeth, clutching his bleeding leg. “You traitorous…”Crack!Another shot rang out… this time, just inches from Lucas’s head. Not a hit. A warning.Ryan lowered the gun slowly and turned to me. “Now would be a good time to use your power, Ricardo.”I blinked, still stunned. “I… I tried. Before. It wouldn’t work.”“Try again,” he said without meeting my gaze.I looked down at my shaking hands. Blood still poured from my arm. My nose. But Ryan was right.Lucas was still alive. And he needed to watch this fall apart.I inhaled sharply, clenched my fists, and reached inward into

  • Stripper by Night, Doctor by Deception    It’s over, Ricardo.

ELENAWe slipped past the old generator shed, and you could almost hear the heartbeat of every man in that line, pounding like a war drum.Ricardo raised a fist. Everyone froze. He turned, signaling for us to split… two around the side, three up toward the east wing. Just as the map said. Just like we rehearsed.Like professionals. They moved without a sound, like ghosts. I followed Rafael closely, keeping my weapon ready and my face blank. Inside, I was screaming with laughter. They thought they were ghosts? They were lambs. And this estate? It was a slaughterhouse.Still, I admired the performance. The precision. The way Ricardo crouched near the door, checking for traps. The way Rafael whispered into his comms, giving quiet go-aheads.Everyone was doing everything right.Which made it all the more beautiful.Because when it went wrong, it would go very, very wrong.Ricardo signaled again. I followed him and Rafael around the back, toward the kitchen entrance. The security lights we

ELENAI leaned back in my seat and smiled.Very useless set of people. In their minds, they were charging into glory… off to kill Matteo and my dear brother, Lucas. They stood there like heroes from some twisted war movie, all grit and purpose. Ricardo with his big speeches and heavy silences, Rafael with his watchful eyes, and the rest? Puppets. Armed and ready… for a trap.A trap I had already set.I warned them. Matteo. Lucas. Hours ago. They know exactly what’s coming. And the best part? These fools think they’re the ones in control. They think they’re one step ahead. But in reality? They’re walking straight into hell. And I’ll be right there, smiling, watching it all burn.Honestly, I’ve been enduring crap in this house for weeks. Playing the sweet medic. Dressing their wounds, patching their egos, nodding like I cared. It’s been exhausting pretending to be weak. But also? Kind of fun.Manipulating them without even trying.Ricardo’s little speech, the way he looked at me after I

RICARDOThey were all gathered by the time I stepped out.Rafael stood to my right, his arms crossed, Elena stood beside him. Enzo was beside the armored truck, checking his weapon with methodical precision. A few other men stood in silence And then… there was Ryan.He stood on the far end of the group, I didn’t look at him. I kept my gaze forward, ignoring the weight of his eyes on me. Ignoring the fact that my chest had tightened the second I saw him.I cleared my throat and stepped forward.“This mission,” I said, my voice loud enough to carry across the group, “is not about business. Not about money. This isn’t a job.”I scanned their faces one by one. Elena. Rafael. Enzo. Everyone… except him.“This is about family. Blood. Justice. Retribution.”They were all still.“My father was murdered,” I continued. A few men glanced at each other. Enzo didn’t move. Rafael’s jaw ticked again.“Matteo planned the whole thing. Lucas helped carry it out. And now, they’re both hidden in the sout

RICARDOA FEW MINUTES AGORafael stepped into my office, and the door clicked shut behind him.“What happened?” I asked and folded my arms. “You said you’d be gone for three days. It’s been a week. I had to send men after you.”He didn’t answer that.Instead, he leaned forward, both palms pressed against my desk. “What happened to Father? How did they get to him?”I narrowed my eyes. He was dodging deliberately. I hated that. But I couldn’t push it right now.Not with the heat already pressing down on us.I exhaled through my nose, stepping away from the table. “I think someone was watching him. Tracking. I don’t know how long, but… they waited for the right moment.”“And then?” Rafael asked, his voice dangerously low.“They got him.” My fists clenched at my sides. “Slipped past security. No noise. No alarm. Nothing. He was already dead by the time we found him.”I slammed my fist on the desk so hard the wood cracked under the weight of my anger.“I can’t believe he’s gone,” I breathe
