“Going to the rink, of course,” Linda answered flatly.

She didn’t wait for a response. Her attention shifted to Roman in the driver’s seat, her voice sharp and commanding. “Let’s go.”

The engine roared to life almost immediately, and within seconds they were moving.

Piper stared out the window for a moment, watching the trees blur past, her thoughts troubled. The silence pressed against her chest until she finally broke it.

“Did Archie’s father tell you to come too?” she asked.

Linda scoffed, eyes fixed ahead. “Not everything revolves around my Alpha’s instructions.”

There was a short silence before she added, almost reluctantly, “I’ve never… had the chance to watch ice hockey myself. Never really understood why Archie loves it so much.” Her jaw tightened. “Thought I’d see it…..before it’s too late.”

The last part of her statement was left out in a low mumble, almost drowned by the sound of the engine.
