39~Hannah

I woke up in a dark room. Not even a glimpse of light in sight. I let out a shivery breath as the coldness of the room bit into my skin, sinking its claws in to incite a painful chill.

"Where am I?" I croaked in a whisper. My throat was painfully parched.

I stayed still for several seconds, forcing myself to recall what had brought me to this point. Suddenly the lights came on and the unanticipated entrance of illumination flooded my eyes so much, I had to snap them shut.

"I see you're awake." His voice echoed through the empty room.

"I just knew." I palmed my face in exhaustion.

"Excuse me?"

"I mean who else would want to ruin my baby shower by abducting me, if not my husband's nemesis?" I rhetorically questioned.

"That's how low you think of me? Your 'husband's nemesis' ?" He mimicked me with a sneer.

"What do you want from me? Why are you trying to kill me?" I don't know where all this courage was coming from but I was sure that running my mouth with this man was a very dang
