It was a breath of a fresh air being able to step out again and freely too. Zach still had a guard follow me everywhere but at least there wasn't tight security all the time.I was out with Mama and Zara, shopping for some baby stuff. Zach wanted us to start working on the nursery and so we began. "Hannah, do you want anything from the food court. Zara's heading there." Mama said. I glanced you from cart filled with several things and realized how hard I had been working and how much food I needed to refuel."Sure. I'll text her my order.""I think you should just go with her. She might get it wrong and then you'll throw a tantrum.""Yeesh. I'm not petty like that." I said in my defense. She made it sound like I was a dramatic pregnant woman. I was so chill - the chilliest pregnant woman there was, so what the heck was she talking about?"Are we going or not?" Zara rolled her eyes irritatedly. I was ready to give her a comeback but Mama stopped me."Go on now." She urged both of us.Z
I introduced Hannah to Trisha, my long time friend who I hardly ever saw due to her working far away from me. "This is my wife, Hannah. Hannah, meet Trisha, she's an old friend." I said."I had no idea your wife is part Asian. She's so cute." Trisha said, stretching her hand forward for a handshake."Thank you. It's nice to meet you. Zach has never mentioned you though." Hannah said, turning to me."It never came up?" I let out a nervous chuckle. She smiled. It was a wry one."I'll just tour around the office while you two talk." Hannah said and left before I could say anything."Have a seat." I gestured at the three sitter couch situated at one side of the room."How's work?" Trisha asked me, settling down to give me a full view of her face."Great. How's life treating you?" I responded in the same lighthearted manner."It's good." She said with a smile. "Heard about Hex?""Yeah. Sad..." I said, feigning pity."I'm sure he'll be out in no time." She asserted."You think?” I arched a
"I still don't get why you're so mad." Marv was laughing so hard it grated on my nerves."He's way too comfortable with that woman and she's so freaking gorgeous!" I wanted to throw something or punch the wall at this point."Why are you even worried about this?""I mean we're actually beginning to get somewhere and some old time super sexy 'friend' of his, pops into the scenario. Why wouldn't I be worried?" I said, hoisting my pants up in exaggerated anger."I thought you didn't want to be with him." She said.I went quiet for a second. "Well, we haven't decided on that. We'll do that after the baby's born but that doesn't mean I should take any form of disrespect." I blew out a long breath. "Like how could he decide to go out for dinner with her, without me?!"See why I said he'll always be a jackass." She said sourly."Yeah." I sulked."He's not back yet?" "Nope. I don't know how dinner lasts so long." I let out a thoroughly displeased huff and looked at the time once again."Oh d
I woke up with a bunch of soft kisses plastering my whole face. My eyes snapped open in an instant and met the scary blue ones that belonged to none other than Zach."It's way too early for you to be trying to get on my nerves." I groggily said and repositioned myself to continue sleeping."It's past nine already." He said.I opened one eye. There was no way Zach could be home at such a time on a weekday so I hummed and continued my sleep."Hannah wake up." He poked my sides."Go away!" I moaned in protest."Wake up, it's our anniversary." Our what?? The last word echoed in my ears a number of times for a few seconds. I sat up abruptly."How do you remember our wedding anniversary and I don't? I asked him with a wide eyed stare."Pregnancy brain?" He said amusedly.I hummed in concession. "I suppose you're right." But the question heavy on my mind was how and why he even remembered our anniversary. He was all frowny this time a year before."Happy anniversary." He cut into my thought
"What was that cheesy speech for?" James asked me when I saw him the next day."What do you mean cheesy? I was appreciating my wife on our anniversary." I feigned confusion as I flipped through a file."The same one you ignored throughout the first six months of your marriage?" He retorted with a disbelieving scoff."Things change." I shrugged."I know you Zach. Be honest with me, what exactly was that about?" He asked knowing, squinting his eyes like they could scan me through and through."Fine." I chuckled. "She was mad at me and I wanted her to feel some butterflies so she could get over it." I said."So you're saying that it was all a lie?" He asked."Not necessarily." I shrugged again."Zach," he sighed tiredly. "Stop playing with this girl, you've done enough.""I'm not playing with her." I disagreed."You don't love her so stop messing with her head.""I like her enough to want to continue being with her okay?" There, I said it. I liked her, sort of."Doesn't look like she fee
"You're still upset Poof?" Mama said to me in a pouty voice. I had been seated by the pool, with my legs in the water ever since my confrontation with Zach, apparently moody for so many reasons at once."I'm not upset Mama." I muttered in denial."Don't be like that dear," she walked over and sat next to me. "I'm really not upset." I sniffed. "Are you crying?" She peered into my face."No!" I whimpered just as a tear dropped. I caught it with the back of my palm."Oh my baby." She placed my head on her shoulder as I wept like a baby."Mama I hate my life." I whined. "Hush darling. But why?" She shushed me and asked."I just hate everything. I'm so fat, my husband doesn't even care about me, I feel so lost and confused. I'm so tired!" I lamented."But Zach cares about you." She said slowly and carefully like she was speaking to a child."No he doesn't." I refused to believe that."Oh dear, marriage isn't always rosy but I'm sure he cares about you. I just spoke to him and he's reall
Picking out color schemes could be very difficult at times but because I was stubborn I did not let Zach hire a professional to help us set up the nursery. I wanted to do it myself. It was a way to keep me busy and it was a good way to start preparing myself for the journey of motherhood. If this was a way to help me fall in love with my pregnancy, then I was down for it.I crouched down on the floor, visibly exhausted after standing over a pile of magazines filled with decor ideas placed on what I'd call my work desk."Come in Malia!" I said when I heard the knock on the door."Malia's still fixing your drink."My eyes snapped up at the sound of a voice I hadn't heard for quite a while. "Zara?" "Surprised to see me?""Of course I am. You've never come up here." I made to get on my feet."Don't worry about it," she stopped me with a wave of her hands. I sat back down questioning with my eyes what she had come to do."I'm just here to give you these. They're for Zach." She said, appa
"You're in good shape Mrs Hawkins. You just need to exercise more, it'll help with your birth canal when it's time to pop your baby out." "Alright thank you doc." I said to my gynaecologist with a relieved smile. I was worried my blood pressure had spiked again but luckily I was doing just fine and so was my baby. I couldn't believe I was done with my second trimester. It felt just like yesterday that I started this journey and I was more than halfway through it. My bump turned out bigger than I'd thought it'd be. I felt kinda insecure because I had added so much weight but surprisingly, Zach had been a sweetheart. He was actually keeping to his promise to be a better guy. Crazy how he went as far as taking me on a date for no exact reason. Who would have thought there was a sweet side to Zach that could be discovered? Well, certainly not me. "Why would you want to get a haircut? You look great." I said, placing the piece of cloth I was folding aside just to come out of the closet
