Chapter 8

Author: Arnold Rice
Third-Person's Point-of-View

Jared put on a bold display before the whole household—this was his turf, after all. "It's no wonder you were always so evasive when I asked you for money. They're the ones you see as family, not me!"

Heather immediately slapped Jared hard across the face. "What the hell did you expect, Jared? Did you think I would consider myself family with a pathetic waste like you?

"You squandered my money on your affairs and produced a bastard son! How dare you return here! Go and live with that precious son of yours!"

Jared barely had a chance to react before a group of burly men surrounded him, throwing punches and kicks. He was lying on the ground before long, with his entire body battered and bruised, utterly silenced by the beating.

He had completely forgotten how fierce Heather could get, since she had always suppressed her anger for the past few years for the sake of their daughter.

Heather had only married Jared because she was foolish and utterly infatu

  • Stuck Raising My Uncle's Lovechild   Chapter 12

"If that baby ends up permanently disabled, he will surely hold you accountable when he is older, won't he? If your precious brother learns that you almost killed the son he desperately wanted, will he still stand by you?"I reasoned that if Matt hadn't hesitated to kill me in my past life, the very cousin who had raised him, I was certain that his fundamental nature couldn't be changed due to his upbringing. I was sure that once Matt grew up, he would seek savage vengeance against Mom and Uncle Jared.I could hardly wait for the moment when the inevitable fate was realized.Mom was arrested on the spot, while I was only called in for routine questioning. I had nothing to do with the incident, so the police officers were all sympathetic toward me.In the aftermath, Mom and Uncle Jared still tried to reach out to me, hoping that I would help them out of familial affection.I was truly at a loss for words, wondering if they really thought they could use that phrase to guilt-trip m

"Who doesn't know that I, Damian Lister, am an orphan, adopted by my grandfather since I was a baby? I'm not even married, yet you showed up with a baby of unknown origin to brazenly blackmail me! "This is a society governed by law! You can't just seek revenge on me because I reported you for child abandonment last time. You can't make me take responsibility based on your unfounded claims! You should go deal with the baby's actual parents instead!"If Mom could pull the victim card, so could I. My colleagues, who were close to me, knew Grandpa, and some had even attended his funeral, so they immediately took my side. "That's right!""I get it now! You're the biological mother who abandoned Damian, aren't you?""You went ahead and had another child you didn't want, and now you intend to pass it off to someone else?""You shouldn't have given birth if you didn't want the baby to begin with!""Do you seriously think your pathetic performance is enough to coerce my friend?"Upo

Damian's Point-of-ViewI preemptively decided to sell the place as soon as I knew that Mom wouldn't leave me alone. I wanted to see how she would pin it on me if she couldn't find me.I executed my plan to sell the property while Mom and Uncle Jared were preoccupied and exhausted by their respective marital collapses. It was a property located in a desirable school district, and since I was pressed for time, I deliberately lowered the price.I secured a buyer almost immediately, and the best part was that Joseph was entirely sympathetic to my situation, which spared me a considerable amount of hassle. And as expected, Joseph acted righteously against the wrong, unmoved by Mom's explanations or emotional appeals. He firmly reported her to the police, reasoning that if he didn't teach her a lesson now, she might blindly latch onto his family later.Mom, carrying Matt, made her second trip to the police station—and the height of the absurdity was the fact that the very same witnesses

Heather's relative yelled, "Who the hell do you think you are? Do you have a death wish?"Karen was trapped, facing a torrent of verbal abuse while surrounded by a crowd. It felt as if every resident of the entire neighborhood had turned out for the commotion.Karen tried to flee, but the crowd held her fast. She immediately resorted to her usual ultimate move—shamelessly throwing herself to the ground and making threats.Heather's family wasn't about to back down, though. They calmly took out their phones and offered them up to Karen as she fell to the ground and threatened to call the police, ready to assist her in making the report."Go ahead and call the police then! You've already accused us of assault, so we might as well make sure we earned the accusation!""Get her! Go and give her a few more kicks. Otherwise, the police will say she's barely injured!""You think you can extort money from us, huh? You clearly mistake us for cowards!""I'll just treat this whole mess as

  • Stuck Raising My Uncle's Lovechild   Chapter 7

Mom had bellowed, "If it weren't for the fact that her family had a bit of money, I would never have let your uncle marry her! I mean, what's the point of having money when she won't let us spend it? I knew that allowing her to marry into the family was bad news!"Heather should be considered lucky since Jared is completely subservient, yet she still refuses to bear him a son to carry on the bloodline!" I found it utterly incredulous, thinking that it didn't justify Uncle Jared having an affair with another woman to bear him a son. I didn't think Aunt Heather was lucky, since she got really unlucky running into Mom and Uncle Jared. They had already finalized the agreement before getting married, yet once they had tied the knot, they tried to back out. They pushed for the child to adopt his last name and sought to seize the car and house as well. It was just a mere last name, yet they behaved as though their lineage was one of royal succession.Uncle Jared never held a proper j
