Chapter 10

Ariella's POV

"How are you doing?" Lucien asked as he sneaked up behind me in the kitchen. I ignored him and continued with what I was cooking.

"Come on Ariella, are you seriously still angry with me because I announced to the school that I was your mate?" He spoke up again and I still didn't answer him.

How do I avoid him when he won't stop seeking out for me? If only he knew what he talking to me can cause, he wouldn't be in this kitchen now but I guess Georgia isn't here with us

Chapter 123Ariella’s POVAfter our conversation, Eli never brought up leaving again. At least, not directly. For a while, I allowed myself to believe he had finally understood.Maybe he had realized that our quiet life wasn't so terrible after all.Maybe he had accepted that not every dream needed to be chased.Maybe he had chosen peace.I should have known better.Eli had always been stubborn. He got that from both me and Ethan.A dangerous combination. The following weeks passed normally.Or so I thought.Every morning, Eli left the house early.Every evening, he returned exhausted. At first, I assumed he was spending time with friends or helping around town. Then one afternoon, I discovered the truth.I found him repairing a broken wagon outside one of the workshops. His sleeves were rolled up.Grease stained his hands. And sweat covered his forehead.I stood there watching him for several moments before he noticed me.The look on his face was almost comical."Mom."I crossed my a

Chapter 121Ariella's POVThe years passed faster than I expected. One moment, Eli was a ten-year-old boy struggling to understand the strange powers growing inside him.The next, he was eighteen.Tall.Strong.Powerful.Far more powerful than I had ever been.Sometimes I would catch sight of him from across town and find myself staring. Not because he looked different. But because he looked so much like Ethan. The same dark hair. The same eyes. The same stubbornness.Every year that passed seemed to erase a little more of the child and reveal more of the man he was becoming. It was both beautiful and heartbreaking.Thankfully, the years had been peaceful. No cults. No prophecies. No mysterious visitors wearing cloaks. The strange people who had appeared eight years ago never returned. For that, I was grateful.Maybe they had finally realized I wanted nothing to do with them.Maybe they had given up.Whatever the reason, I wasn't complaining. For the first time in my life, peace had b

Chapter 121Ariella's POVThe elderly woman's gaze never left Eli.For a moment, the entire room felt suffocatingly silent.Eli shifted uncomfortably beside me."Mom..." he whispered. "Why are they looking at me like that?"I instinctively pulled him closer."It's okay."But it wasn't.Nothing about this felt okay. The woman slowly stepped forward before stopping herself."He truly exists," she murmured, almost to herself. One of the cloaked men standing behind her lowered his hood slightly, revealing an older face filled with awe."We searched for centuries through records and prophecies."Another woman nodded."And now we've finally found him."My patience snapped."Enough."My voice came out sharper than intended."I don't know who you people are, but you're frightening my son."The elderly woman blinked before finally looking at me."My apologies.""Then start explaining."Her expression softened slightly."My name is Helena.""I don't care what your name is."Eli tugged lightly o

Chapter 120Ariella’s POVThe months that followed Eli's shift were both peaceful and terrifying.Peaceful because the pain was finally gone.Terrifying because I knew it wouldn't last.Every morning, I woke expecting something to happen.Every night, I went to bed with the same feeling sitting heavily in my chest.Waiting.Watching.Fearing.Eli, however, seemed happier than ever. The suffering that had plagued him for months had completely disappeared. He laughed more.Smiled more.Played with other children more. For the first time in a long while, he was simply a ten-year-old boy.And I hated myself for not being able to enjoy it.Because every time I looked at him, I remembered that night. The blood moon. The enormous wolf. The impossible shift. No matter how hard I tried to convince myself otherwise, I knew one thing.Eli wasn't normal. Not even by werewolf standards. And whatever made him different wasn't something the world would ignore forever.Sometimes, I caught myself star

Chapter 119Ariella’s POVAfter the night of the blood moon, everything changed. Not because Eli had shifted. But because of what that shift meant. For days, I couldn't stop thinking about it.Every story I had ever heard.Every ancient tale.Every lesson about werewolves passed down through generations.None of them mentioned a child shifting at ten years old.None.Even the strongest Alphas in history had shifted around sixteen. Some gifted wolves shifted a year or two earlier. But ten? That wasn't rare.It was unheard of.Impossible.And yet, I had witnessed it with my own eyes.I had watched my son transform beneath the blood moon.I had seen the enormous wolf that lived inside him.A wolf that looked older and more powerful than many fully grown Alphas. The memory haunted me.Every single day.And every single night.Ironically, Eli seemed happier than he had been in months. The pain was gone.Completely gone. The very first night after his shift, I sat beside his bed waiting for

Chapter 118Ariella’s POVThe blood moon appeared three nights later. The moment I saw the red glow spreading across the sky, dread settled heavily inside my chest.Something about the air felt wrong.Too still.Too heavy.Even Eli noticed it.“Mom,” he whispered quietly while standing near the window. “Why does the moon look like that?”I swallowed hard before forcing calm into my voice.“It’s called a blood moon.”His silver eyes reflected the crimson light pouring through the window.“It feels strange.”Because it was strange.Blood moons were rare even among werewolves.Powerful.Ancient.Dangerous.I had only witnessed one once before in my life, and that night ended with death and destruction. My stomach twisted uneasily at the memory.Eli suddenly winced.I immediately stood.“What’s wrong?”His breathing became uneven.“It’s starting again.”Fear shot through me instantly. The episodes had been getting worse every night, but something about tonight felt different.Much worse.
