"Are you...are you messing with me right now? Are you kidding? Are you joking? You better not be messing with me, Emily." He said through the phone, a new pain growing in my elbow.

"I can. I'll get a taxi, don't worry about me." I told him and started walking down the stairs carefully. I knew if I got myself downstairs and went outside, I would definitely find a taxi in seconds. All I had to do was to actually get down the stairs and outside the house.
