ELIAS'S POV

A cold spike of terror ran down my spine as Adrian tried to open the box.

“I knew it. I knew he was hiding something.” Adrian shouted.

“What the hell is going on?” My voice roared in the room.

Rowan was standing beside him, looking conflicted as he turned to me.

“Elias…” he started but I ignored him and strode toward Adrian.

“Give that back now.”

Adrian clutched the box tighter and smirked with twisted triumph. “Why is it locked with a password? Hm? What are you hiding so desperately, Silverhaven golden boy?”

His voice dripped venom.

I stepped forward again. “I said, give it back.”

“No.” Adrian didn’t budge. His aura flared, vicious and unstable. “Not until I open it.”

“Adrian, stop,” Rowan hissed. “Let it go and leave.”

But Adrian shook him off like he was nothing.

My heart was pounding in fear and my instincts screamed to snatch the box from him before it was too late.

“You don’t get to touch my things,” I said in a low, dangerous voice.

“And you don’t get to hide secret

ELIAS’S POVOf course, I didn’t take his hand. My father might have been so forgiving to let him return, but I was the one who experienced the terrible ordeal, and I wasn't ready to forgive.I stepped back as I glared at him and turned away from Galvin without another word. Whatever apology he thought would erase the memory of his claws around my throat was nothing but arrogance dressed as remorse.“Elias…” he called after me, but I didn't respond. I walked out of the café without looking back. The cool morning air hit my face as I exhaled sharply, trying to steady the storm inside my chest. My wolf paced restlessly beneath my skin, uneasy and alert. Galvin’s presence alone felt like a reopened wound, one that had never truly healed.I mindlinked Jace and Lucan as I headed out of the school building.‘Where are you guys?’‘On our way to the school front yard,’ Lucan replied almost immediately. ‘Everyone’s gathering there.’‘Okay. I’ll meet you there.’Footsteps followed me, and I did

ELIAS'S POVELEVEN YEARS LATERThe moon had been high that night, casting long shadows across the forest behind the pack estate.I was only ten years old when my mother was still hovering over me and watching every move I made because she was scared that my secret would be exposed. I understood her but I still hated that she took away my freedom. My 18 year old cousin Galvin came to me like a Knight in shiny armor and offered to take me out to see the forest and bring me back without my mother realizing.“Are you sure we won't get caught?” I asked as I jumped down from the highwall of my father's house.“Trust me, I'm an expert in things like this,” Galvin assured me. “Luna will never find out.”I had the best fun of my life exploring the forest and feeling the crunch of leaves beneath my feet. It was later that I realised that we had wandered off farther than we should have.“Galvin, I think we should go back.”“Why are you in a rush little cousin?” He stopped and slowly turned to m

ELIAS'S POV I couldn't sleep no matter how many times I closed my eyes, the voice echoed in my head over and over.‘Be careful of the Blood Moon, Elias.’I turned onto my side, staring at the faint outline of the ceiling as moonlight slipped through the curtains. Whatever those attackers were, they weren’t rogues. Rogues didn’t think, they didn’t retreat strategically and they certainly didn’t mindlink an Alpha.‘You seem to forget that you are not actually an Alpha, you are only pretending to be one.’ Carlos reminded me and I hissed back at him.‘He said I was one of them. What does that even mean?’‘That would be difficult to find out, considering we don't even know who or what they are.’ Carlos sighed. My mind went back to the fight and I was confused how they were able to fight back easily against a group of trained Alphas. That wasn't normal. That's when it suddenly flashed through my mind. The Apex Omegas. Professor Vargan had described them to be Omegas who possessed Alpha-le

ROWAN’S POVAs I pinned down one of the attackers, he fought back harder, almost overpowering me which left me confused. No rogue could be as strong and trained and it was obvious he was not an Alpha. No other forms of wolves were stronger than the Alpha wolf, so what were they?I slashed his legs and escaped from his hold. My eyes searched around for Elias to make sure he was okay but then I noticed something odd.He pinned down one of the attackers and then froze. They didn't fight each other, they just stared at each other as if they were in trance. Then all of a sudden, he pushed Rowan off him and they all retreated in a coordinated manner.I felt more unease than relief as I watched them leave. Something was definitely wrong.Everyone began to shift back to their human form but I stayed in my wolf form a second longer, my eyes scanning the treeline where the last of them disappeared before my gaze shifted back to Elias who was also in his wolf form.“Rowan.” I turned as Adrian ca

ELIAS’S POVThe blaring alarm cut through the air like a blade, making Rowan and I glanced at each other in shock. We heard shouting and heavy footsteps running in the hallway. We pulled away from each other and I fixed my pants before he opened the door and stepped outside. The school guards were going from door to door and barking orders. “Everyone out! Move to the safe house immediately!”Rowan and I grabbed our bag packs that had most of our essentials before he grabbed my hand in a protective way. “Let's go.”Students poured out of their rooms as panic spread fast. Boots thundered against the floor as armed security rushed past us in the opposite direction, faces grim, weapons drawn.I grabbed the sleeve of one of the guards as we were pushed along. “What’s happening?”“Rogues,” he barked. “They breached the outer perimeter and are trying to break into the boys dorm.”My blood ran cold.Rowan didn’t wait to hear more. He pulled me into a run, straight toward the concealed entranc

ELIAS’S POVWhen I returned to my room, the first thing I noticed was Rowan pacing around the room. His hands were clenched into fists and his jaw was tight as he moved back and forth with his head down.He didn't even notice me until I announced my presence. “Rowan?” I called. He raised his head so fast that it startled me. For a split second, pure fear flashed across his face before he covered it with a smile that didn't reach his eyes.“Elias, you're back.” His hands trembled and he quickly hid it behind him.My eyebrow raised in confusion as I shut the door and stepped closer to him. “Are you okay?”“I am,” he nodded eagerly as he avoided my eyes.“It's written all over your face that you are lying.” I grabbed the trembling arm that he was hiding behind him and he clenched his fist to control trembling but it didn’t stop. “Rowan, you are not fine. Tell me what's wrong.”He quickly yanked his hand away from mine. “It's really nothing. I just wanted to tell you that I lied about eve
