LOGINELIAS’ POV
The morning air was filled with excitement as the entire school gathered on the field for the school opening contest, which I heard was the most anticipated event of Mortlach Academy. It was a battle of strength, speed and dominance among the male students that decided who stood at the top in the leaderboard in the beginning of the session. It was a chance for every pack heir to prove they were worthy of their titles. Topping the leader board in my first contest would at least make my father proud and my mom at ease that I was fitting in well. As I tightened the laces of my boots, my wolf, Carlos, muttered in my head, ‘Try not to faint when they start releasing their Alphas's scents.’ “You're not helping,” I hissed under my breath From the corner of my eyes, I saw Rowan standing a few feet away from me, stretching his arms, the muscles in his back flexing under his White and Silver Jersey, which was our team colour. His strong scent of Cedarwood and stormy rain was heavy in the air, teasing my suppressed instincts. I forced myself to focus on tying my wrist guards. The coordinator of the contest stepped up to the podium to explain the rules of the match. There were a total of eight teams with 15 members each. Four teams would go head to head in the first match and second match to obtain each other's flags. The one team that is able to eliminate all the members of all three teams and claim all the flags would advance to the finals. The crowd, precisely the female students screamed around the field as the announcer called for the participants to take their positions. Our team, Silver Hawks were going against Night Reavers who were putting on Dark violet and Gray which also happened to he Jace's team, Iron fang with Steel gray and black jersey and lastly Golden fangs with Gold black Jersey. We took our positions on the field and all heads turned when she walked in. Selena Drake in Silver and white jersey. Her long hair tied in a ponytail and her lips curved into a smile knowing that she had half the crowd drooling. A murmur broke out among the spectators. “She's cheering for the Silver Hawks?” “That's Elias Thorne’s team!” “At least we now know who caught her attention.” I could feel Adrian’s glare all the way from across the field, his jaw tightening as he watched Selena sit among our supporters. She waved at me and I gave her a polite nod with a small smile but when she winked, the crowd erupted into teasing cheers. My face heated up with discomfort. ‘Play along,’ my wolf whispered. ‘We need her.’ So I did something stupid; I winked back. All the girls screamed and Selena’s smirk deepened. I didn't bother looking at Adrian because I knew he was probably thinking of 1000 ways to murder me. “Easy, lover boy,” Rowan muttered beside me, his lips curving in amusement. “Shut up.” All teams took their stance, protecting their flags as we sized each other up. The whistle blew and for a moment everywhere was silent. Before I knew it, all three teams charged at us at the same time. “What the fuck?” I muttered with wide eyes. “It seems they are trying to eliminate you first,” Rowan said beside him. “Your reputation as the Perfect Alpha isn't doing us any good right now.” I took a deep breath and glanced at Rowan who gave me a nod. At my lead, our teams collided with the other teams. Our wolves were growling to be released as the air was thick with power, dominance and adrenaline. While the rest of our teams were protecting our flags, Rowan and I were charging forward to eliminate others and claim their flags. Rowan and I had barely exchanged words since last night, but on the field, something clicked. Our movements synced like two gears in perfect motion When I dodged left, he covered my right and when I was cornered, he was suddenly there, knocking someone down with a powerful tackle. Every time our eyes met, something inside me sparked; dangerous, wild and confusing. “Elias, watch your back,” Rowan barked. I ducked just in time as another player lunged toward me. Rowan countered with a swift block and grinned down at me. “You're welcome, Perfect Alpha.” I rolled my eyes, panting heavily. “Don't get too cocky.” He chuckled. “I wouldn't dream of it.” He reached out his hand to me and I grabbed it to get back on my feet. Together, we dominated the field with great teamwork and by the time we grabbed the last flag and made it back to our team domain, the final whistle blew. The Silver Hawks had won the first round. The crowd exploded in cheers. I could hear Selena’s voice screaming my name as she jumped and clapped. All of a sudden the entire crowd was chanting my name and a wide smile appeared on my face and my heart raced at the attention. Before I could process it, Rowan grabbed me and pulled me into a tight hug. My entire body froze. His warmth pressed against me as his scent enveloped and hit me like a drug. My Omega instinct, usually hidden by the suppressants, flared up violently. My pulse spiked and my skin began to heat up. My heart thudded in my chest as my mind was clouded with thoughts that were anything but innocent. No, not now. Definitely not him. “Hey, you okay?” Rowan’s deep voice said in my ear, too close and too dangerous. I quickly pulled away, forcing a laugh. “Yeah, I just need some air.” Before he could respond, I turned on my heel and bolted toward the locker room. The crowd cheers faded behind me as I stumbled into the empty restroom, gripping the edge of the sink until my knuckles turned white. My reflection in the mirror was terrifying. My face was flushed, lips trembling and pupils dilated. “What the hell is happening to me?” I whispered as my breath came out in short gasps. ‘He triggered your heat,’ Carlos growled, his voice thick with warning and desire. My chest tightened. “No, that can't be possible. I took the suppressant this morning.” ‘Your body wants him more than the drug can control. The drug might not be able to help us anymore.’ No, I had to think of another way to keep my Omega instinct under control. My mom isn't here to help so I have to think of another way. I had gone too far and my mother has sacrificed a lot to keep this secret of mine for me to let everything get exposed because of Rowan Vale. The sound of footsteps echoed outside the door followed by Rowan’s voice. “Elias? Are you in there?” I froze, my heart hammering hard against my ribcage. “Open up,” he said in a softer tone. “Are you okay?” I saw the doorknob turned and everything froze. if he stepped in now and got close enough to smell my arousal, everything would be over. My secret will be exposed.ROWAN’S POVThat night, I couldn't sleep because how could I when everything that happened was replaying in my head like a curse i couldn't escapeAdrian had told me to set off the next morning to find Elias and bring him to them.Very early the next morning, I packed my things in my little suitcase and took it to the car. The surroundings were quiet as the place was filled with all the new guards, no one dared to come near the Alpha’s mansion like before.I went back in and moved through the halls without saying a word to anyone. All the guards ignored me like I was nobody. The respect I used to get as an Alpha heir was gone. Before leaving, I decided to stop by the cells where my father and some leaders who refused to accept Alpha Kaerald as their new Alpha were kept. The guards blocked me the moment they saw me. “Alpha Rowan…”“Move,” I said flatly. “I need to speak to my father.”He glanced at his colleagues and they nodded at him before he stepped aside for me to go in.The heav
ROWAN'S POV “What the hell are you talking about?” I asked, turning my attention to my mom. “How is he Adrian's biological father? What exactly is going on here?” She stood and walked toward me. “I'm sorry you had to learn about everything like this, but you can't really blame me. All this is your father's fault.”“Of course.” My father scoffed. My mother rolled her eyes at my father and turned back to me with a wicked smile on her face.Seeing that interaction between my parents felt like a horror movie. My parents always showed how in love they were when I was growing up, but now witnessing them expressing hatred for each other was not even on my list.“The truth is my father groomed me to be the Luna of Crescent Pack, and I was honoured to catch the attention of Alpha Kaerald. At that time, everyone was contemplating who was going to be the next Alpha between your father and Alpha Kaerald, but I didn't care about it anymore because I was so in love with Alpha Kaerald”She sighed
ROWAN’S POV I stood in the war room, confused and overwhelmed. Gamma Caleb, my mom and Silva were still nowhere to be found. My father has been captured by the same people Adrian was working with while I was stuck in the pack with no one to turn to.“Alpha Rowan, we have searched everywhere and we couldn't find them,” a warrior said as he came to join me in the war room. “No one saw them leaving. Not even the Border guards.”I ran my fingers through my hair before tugging it hard. “What the hell is going on? Why is all these happening?”For the first time in my life, I felt completely stuck. Was this karma for betraying Elias? Is the Moon Goddess really punishing me?“Alpha Rowan,” another warrior walked in. “I did a head count on all the guards we have left in the pack and we are only 200. The others are warriors in training that have either not gone to warrior school at all or are still going through warrior school.”“We will have to put them on the battlefield because we need all
ROWAN’S POV The night swallowed me whole as I was dressed in all black, making my way toward Moon Hollow.Silva’s directions were precise. The hidden path was exactly where she said it would be, narrow, overgrown, almost invisible unless you knew what to look for.I slipped through it easily and within minutes I was inside Moon Hollow territory. What I saw next made my steps slow. They were tons of armed warriors, patrolling the city but that wasn’t the problem. It was what they were wearing. They were all dressed in Crescent Pack Warriors uniform. My eyes darkened. They had taken over Moon Hollow under Crescent Pack’s name. The Crescent Pack flag was hung everywhere as a sign that they had taken over the entire territory.I moved deeper into the territory, keeping to the shadows, avoiding patrols with ease.My target was clear, the Alpha’s mansion. If someone was in charge, that’s where they would be.Getting inside the Alpha’s mansion wasn't difficult because they weren't expecting
ROWAN’S POVI left Gamma Caleb to go freshen up and treat my wound. The hallway was unusually quiet as I walked to my room. After everything that had happened, the pack and the Alpha’s mansion should have still been buzzing but most of the warriors were gone with my father, and the rest were scattered, preparing for whatever came next.As I turned to the corridor that led to my room, my mind was still running through everything, Moon Hollow, the ambush, the unknown message, and all the missing pieces that refused to connect. That was when I saw Silva. She stepped out of her room without noticing me and closed the door behind her quietly. She froze in her steps the moment her eyes landed on me. Something flickered across her face, but it quickly disappeared, and she turned immediately, reaching for the door handle like she hadn’t just seen me.My eyes narrowed at her as I began to walk closer to her. “Silva.”She didn’t respond. Instead, she tried to slip back inside.I moved faster,
ROWAN’S POVBy the time I got back to Crescent Pack, the sky had already begun to darken. The warriors at the border had brought me back home because all the vehicles had been stolen by the attackers. The bodies of the dead warriors were properly collected, and a message was sent to their families. The moment I stepped into the mansion, a few warriors came to my aid.“Where is my father?” I asked, seeing that the surroundings were a bit empty.“He already left,” one of them replied. “He led the troops to Silverhaven not long after you left.”I nodded. We had no time to waste. Moon Hollow had fallen into the wrong hands. We couldn't let Silverhaven slip out of our fingers, too.“Who was left in charge?” I asked.“Gamma Caleb,” he answered.I didn’t waste another second to reply. I marched straight inside because I needed to talk to him anyway.Gamma Caleb was exactly where I expected him to be, in the war room, standing over a large map, issuing quiet instructions to a few remaining w
