LOGINELIAS’ POV
The morning air was filled with excitement as the entire school gathered on the field for the school opening contest, which I heard was the most anticipated event of Mortlach Academy. It was a battle of strength, speed and dominance among the male students that decided who stood at the top in the leaderboard in the beginning of the session. It was a chance for every pack heir to prove they were worthy of their titles. Topping the leader board in my first contest would at least make my father proud and my mom at ease that I was fitting in well. As I tightened the laces of my boots, my wolf, Carlos, muttered in my head, ‘Try not to faint when they start releasing their Alphas's scents.’ “You're not helping,” I hissed under my breath From the corner of my eyes, I saw Rowan standing a few feet away from me, stretching his arms, the muscles in his back flexing under his White and Silver Jersey, which was our team colour. His strong scent of Cedarwood and stormy rain was heavy in the air, teasing my suppressed instincts. I forced myself to focus on tying my wrist guards. The coordinator of the contest stepped up to the podium to explain the rules of the match. There were a total of eight teams with 15 members each. Four teams would go head to head in the first match and second match to obtain each other's flags. The one team that is able to eliminate all the members of all three teams and claim all the flags would advance to the finals. The crowd, precisely the female students screamed around the field as the announcer called for the participants to take their positions. Our team, Silver Hawks were going against Night Reavers who were putting on Dark violet and Gray which also happened to he Jace's team, Iron fang with Steel gray and black jersey and lastly Golden fangs with Gold black Jersey. We took our positions on the field and all heads turned when she walked in. Selena Drake in Silver and white jersey. Her long hair tied in a ponytail and her lips curved into a smile knowing that she had half the crowd drooling. A murmur broke out among the spectators. “She's cheering for the Silver Hawks?” “That's Elias Thorne’s team!” “At least we now know who caught her attention.” I could feel Adrian’s glare all the way from across the field, his jaw tightening as he watched Selena sit among our supporters. She waved at me and I gave her a polite nod with a small smile but when she winked, the crowd erupted into teasing cheers. My face heated up with discomfort. ‘Play along,’ my wolf whispered. ‘We need her.’ So I did something stupid; I winked back. All the girls screamed and Selena’s smirk deepened. I didn't bother looking at Adrian because I knew he was probably thinking of 1000 ways to murder me. “Easy, lover boy,” Rowan muttered beside me, his lips curving in amusement. “Shut up.” All teams took their stance, protecting their flags as we sized each other up. The whistle blew and for a moment everywhere was silent. Before I knew it, all three teams charged at us at the same time. “What the fuck?” I muttered with wide eyes. “It seems they are trying to eliminate you first,” Rowan said beside him. “Your reputation as the Perfect Alpha isn't doing us any good right now.” I took a deep breath and glanced at Rowan who gave me a nod. At my lead, our teams collided with the other teams. Our wolves were growling to be released as the air was thick with power, dominance and adrenaline. While the rest of our teams were protecting our flags, Rowan and I were charging forward to eliminate others and claim their flags. Rowan and I had barely exchanged words since last night, but on the field, something clicked. Our movements synced like two gears in perfect motion When I dodged left, he covered my right and when I was cornered, he was suddenly there, knocking someone down with a powerful tackle. Every time our eyes met, something inside me sparked; dangerous, wild and confusing. “Elias, watch your back,” Rowan barked. I ducked just in time as another player lunged toward me. Rowan countered with a swift block and grinned down at me. “You're welcome, Perfect Alpha.” I rolled my eyes, panting heavily. “Don't get too cocky.” He chuckled. “I wouldn't dream of it.” He reached out his hand to me and I grabbed it to get back on my feet. Together, we dominated the field with great teamwork and by the time we grabbed the last flag and made it back to our team domain, the final whistle blew. The Silver Hawks had won the first round. The crowd exploded in cheers. I could hear Selena’s voice screaming my name as she jumped and clapped. All of a sudden the entire crowd was chanting my name and a wide smile appeared on my face and my heart raced at the attention. Before I could process it, Rowan grabbed me and pulled me into a tight hug. My entire body froze. His warmth pressed against me as his scent enveloped and hit me like a drug. My Omega instinct, usually hidden by the suppressants, flared up violently. My pulse spiked and my skin began to heat up. My heart thudded in my chest as my mind was clouded with thoughts that were anything but innocent. No, not now. Definitely not him. “Hey, you okay?” Rowan’s deep voice said in my ear, too close and too dangerous. I quickly pulled away, forcing a laugh. “Yeah, I just need some air.” Before he could respond, I turned on my heel and bolted toward the locker room. The crowd cheers faded behind me as I stumbled into the empty restroom, gripping the edge of the sink until my knuckles turned white. My reflection in the mirror was terrifying. My face was flushed, lips trembling and pupils dilated. “What the hell is happening to me?” I whispered as my breath came out in short gasps. ‘He triggered your heat,’ Carlos growled, his voice thick with warning and desire. My chest tightened. “No, that can't be possible. I took the suppressant this morning.” ‘Your body wants him more than the drug can control. The drug might not be able to help us anymore.’ No, I had to think of another way to keep my Omega instinct under control. My mom isn't here to help so I have to think of another way. I had gone too far and my mother has sacrificed a lot to keep this secret of mine for me to let everything get exposed because of Rowan Vale. The sound of footsteps echoed outside the door followed by Rowan’s voice. “Elias? Are you in there?” I froze, my heart hammering hard against my ribcage. “Open up,” he said in a softer tone. “Are you okay?” I saw the doorknob turned and everything froze. if he stepped in now and got close enough to smell my arousal, everything would be over. My secret will be exposed.ELIAS'S POVThe moment Tyler said Leo’s name, Rowan was already on his feet, yanking the door open so hard it slammed against the wall.“Where is he?” Rowan demanded, his tone sharp and colder than I’d ever heard it.Tyler looked shaken. “Back of the dorm, near the storage sheds. His brothers dragged him there a few minutes ago.”“His brothers?” Rowan furrowed his eyebrows as he clenched his fingers into a fist. “Those pieces of shit.”Rowan didn’t wait another second. He brushed past Tyler and bolted down the hallway. I exchanged a quick glance with Tyler before we both ran after him.By the time we reached the back of the dorms, I could hear laughter and a soft voice whimpering in pain.Leo was on the ground, his clothes rumpled, and his face was red, not from crying, but from trying desperately not to. Standing over him were two tall guys who I concluded they were his brothers. But what I didn't understand was why they were treating their brother that way.One of them shoved Leo ba
ELIAS'S POV“You keep saying you are fine, but it's pretty obvious that you aren't,” Rowan said as he sat at the edge of my bed.I lay upside down, looking up at the ceiling as I tried to imagine my father's disappointed face and Galvin’s mocking look when they found out that I was an Omega. It didn't even help matters that I wasn't just any type of Omega but Apex Omega who are considered enemies to the werewolf society. My father had the highest authority and power among all Alphas. Would he really watch me get killed?‘Your father is a man who cares about his reputation more than anything else,” Carlos reminded me. ‘We can't predict what he would do to protect his precious image.’“Elias, come on.” Rowan shook me. “This is starting to get annoying.”I sighed and sat up. “I told you I'm fine.”“Yes, and fishes fly,” he replied, and I rolled my eyes at him. He brought his hand up to caress the left side of my face as his eyes held so much worry and concern. “You can talk to me, Elias
ELIAS’S POV The bell rang across the academy, signalling everyone to assemble, and within minutes every student was gathered into the Great Assembly Hall. The room buzzed with low conversations, tension crackling in the air like static. No one laughed. No one joked. Everyone could still feel the echo of last night’s attack clinging to their skin. I stood with my pack near the front, my arms crossed as my eyes scanned the hall. Pack leaders, Council members and Guard from the big Six packs were surrounding the hall, watching us with keen eyes. That wasn't normal. My Father, Alpha Killian, stepped onto the raised platform beside the Council Head, his presence alone enough to silence the entire hall. His aura rolled outward, calm, controlled and reassuring. “The situation has been handled,” Alpha Killian announced, his voice steady and authoritative. “There is no immediate threat to the academy.” A ripple of relieved murmurs spread through the hall. But obviously, I didn't buy i
ELIAS’S POVAs our parents were ushered into the conference wing, Jared came over and tapped my shoulder. “We are having a meeting,” he said quietly.I didn’t hesitate. Anything was better than standing around Galvin, pretending his presence didn’t crawl under my skin. I nodded and followed Jared, feeling the tension in my shoulders ease just a fraction with every step away from Galvin. We didn't use the SU meeting room this time, the others were already waiting for me at a corner besides the school building. Some of the students could see us but they were not close enough to hear what we were talking about.Gabriel stood at the center as we formed a semi-circle around me. “Last night wasn’t normal. We all felt it. So the question is. what do we do now?”Liana folded her arms and said in a calm and firm tone. “I say we don’t do anything reckless. Our parents and the Council are handling this. None of our training prepared us for enemies that don’t behave like rogues or pack wolves. J
ELIAS’S POVOf course, I didn’t take his hand. My father might have been so forgiving to let him return, but I was the one who experienced the terrible ordeal, and I wasn't ready to forgive.I stepped back as I glared at him and turned away from Galvin without another word. Whatever apology he thought would erase the memory of his claws around my throat was nothing but arrogance dressed as remorse.“Elias…” he called after me, but I didn't respond. I walked out of the café without looking back. The cool morning air hit my face as I exhaled sharply, trying to steady the storm inside my chest. My wolf paced restlessly beneath my skin, uneasy and alert. Galvin’s presence alone felt like a reopened wound, one that had never truly healed.I mindlinked Jace and Lucan as I headed out of the school building.‘Where are you guys?’‘On our way to the school front yard,’ Lucan replied almost immediately. ‘Everyone’s gathering there.’‘Okay. I’ll meet you there.’Footsteps followed me, and I did
ELIAS'S POVELEVEN YEARS LATERThe moon had been high that night, casting long shadows across the forest behind the pack estate.I was only ten years old when my mother was still hovering over me and watching every move I made because she was scared that my secret would be exposed. I understood her but I still hated that she took away my freedom. My 18 year old cousin Galvin came to me like a Knight in shiny armor and offered to take me out to see the forest and bring me back without my mother realizing.“Are you sure we won't get caught?” I asked as I jumped down from the highwall of my father's house.“Trust me, I'm an expert in things like this,” Galvin assured me. “Luna will never find out.”I had the best fun of my life exploring the forest and feeling the crunch of leaves beneath my feet. It was later that I realised that we had wandered off farther than we should have.“Galvin, I think we should go back.”“Why are you in a rush little cousin?” He stopped and slowly turned to m
