CHAPTER SIXTY-FOUR: Cousin

One of my eyes opened when I heard my cell phone ringing. I reached for it on the bedside table and tried to see who it was.

I answered it when I saw my mom's name on the screen.

"Lola! Sweetie, how are you?" I heard my mom's soft voice.

Well, talking to them, they probably won't be home until later. I'll wait for their arrival. Yeah, I miss them.

"Hello, mom. I'm fine. How are you and dad? Can't wait to see you later," I replied, my voice slightly hoarse probably because I just woke up.

And at that moment, I got up from my bed and continued talking to my mom.

"Yeah, we're doing good. Anyway, I called to check on you because your dad and I have been quite busy today, and I'm sorry for this. We'll make it up to you when we get home," she spoke with sincerity in her voice.

I know how busy Mom and Dad can get, so it's not surprising. Besides, I'm used to it.
