I don't know what to think. I don't know what this feeling is all about. Is this normal? Definitely not. Not only was he in his thirties while I was just 19, but we were also never meant to fall in love because he was my teacher. There is no way.... What is wrong with my heart? Oh God. I think I am in love with my math teacher." My hand pushed against his chest as I took a step back. "Please, I can't breathe with you so close.. "You think I can?" He snapped, gripping my wrist and hauling me to himself. "You think it's been easy for me to stand in front of the class, avoiding your eyes and trying to keep myself from thinking about you while teaching." My eyes widened and my jaw dropped. Was he also in love with me? Did that one-night stand mean something to him too? I thought I was just like other students to him. ***** Diane's heart was shattered when she found out her boyfriend didn't love her and was only using her to win a dare game. It was forbidden, enough scandal to destroy his career, but he couldn't let go; neither could she. What happens when she find out his secret identity and realized he was part of a deadly Mafia organization that she should have never meet in the first place.

I carefully applied a touch of makeup, painting my lips a bold shade of red to match the crimson spaghetti-strap dress that clung to my curves and stopped just above my knees. I slipped on a pair of sleek black heels, wincing slightly as they pinched my toes. High heels weren’t my favorite, but Jaden my boyfriend loved them, so I Iearned to endure. As I gave myself one last look in the mirror, a small smile spread across my face. "Tonight was going to be perfect." I thought with a wink. My phone buzzed on the dresser, and I snatched it up, my heart skipping a beat when I saw Jaden’s name. “I am bored and alone here. I really miss you, and I wish I could come and spend the vacation with you in London,” his text read. A grin spread across my lips as I reread the message. Excitement bubbled in my chest, and I couldn’t help but laugh softly to myself. He thought I was in London for the summer just as I told him but I had lied about my holiday plans, just so this moment would be a complete surprise to him. We had been dating for five months now—five months of late-night calls, stolen kisses between classes, and whispered promises about the future. He was the man I saw myself with forever, the one I imagined standing beside me at the altar someday. But one thing was still missing which was our first sex. I have decided to give it to him tonight though. I wasn’t nervous; it felt right. Jaden had proven himself over and over again—his patience, his kindness, the way he looked at me like I was his entire world. I’d never felt this safe, this certain with anyone else. Grabbing my black handbag, I checked to make sure I had everything: my phone, credit card, and some cash even though I knew I wouldn't need any money. He will sort it all. I slipped the strap over my shoulder and hurried out the door, barely able to contain my excitement as I got out and locked the door before walking down the road and waving down a taxi. I had asked the driver to make a quick stop at a flower shop, picking out a bouquet of fresh roses for Jaden. The scent of the beautiful rose filled the car as I sat back. Barely an hour later, the taxi pulled up in front of his apartment and I felt my pulse tense as I paid the driver, clutching the bouquet tightly. His place looked the same but tonight, it felt different and I couldn't point out what exactly. The light spilling from his bedroom window told me he was home, and my stomach fluttered with anticipation. With a deep breath, I adjusted my dress, checked my makeup one last time in the reflection of the taxi window, and made my way to his door. I could already begin to picture it in my head—Jaden's face lighting up with surprise and joy the moment he would see me in his room. He won't be able to contain himself and would pull me into his arms, littering kisses all over me as usual. Tonight would be the best night of our relationship. I clutched the bouquet of roses tightly to my chest, my heart pounding with excitement as I rushed toward the front door. Jaden came from a wealthy family and although my parents weren’t poor, compared to his lifestyle, we were worlds apart. Sometimes, I still wonder how he had asked me out to be his girlfriend out of all the other better options of girls in school. It felt like a dream, one I never wanted to wake up from. I reached his apartment and punched in the door code which I already knew off by heart, the familiar beep signaling the door unlocked. Everywhere was silent at first, but as I stepped inside, faint laughter drifted down from upstairs—a woman’s laughter. My breath hitched, and for a split second, I stood paralyzed staring up and wondering if my ears were deceiving me. He told me he was bored, alone at home and hoping I was here with him. So who has that female voice? My legs felt heavy as I climbed the stairs, each step slow and careful. "Maybe I misheard. Maybe it was just the TV." I tried to clear my doubt but just then, my gaze landed on a trail of clothes leading down the hallway—a blouse, a bra, panties... and Jaden’s shirt as if they had started off outside before entering his room. "No... Jaden can't be cheating on me," I whispered to myself, my voice shaking. My chest ached, and my breath came in gasps as I drew closer to the door. I reached the bedroom door and stretched my sweaty hand to the doorknob, to open it but then, from the inside, Jaden's voice rang out again, playful and full of desire. “I really missed you...You are so sweet. Aghh! Baby, you don’t know what I’d do to have you with me every second of my life.” And then, I heard her ask. "What about Diane?" The female voice made me shudder as my jaw fell open. A sharp gasp escaped my lips as I was sure I recognized who had that voice. It was that of Selene, my best friend. My closest since my second year in college. Jaden's voice cut through the silence of my thoughts as he blurted. “Don’t tell me you really think I love Diane. She’s not my type. Believe me, it was a dare. I swear my friends bet I wouldn't be able to take her virginity. But she’s so stubborn and hasn't allowed me to have her. She insisted it would be until after college.” He scoffed in irritation. Selene heaved a sigh. “Okay, it just felt so real. I was becoming so jealous of you both.” The sound of their kisses followed, making my stomach churn. I couldn’t breathe as I felt like my entire world was crashing down around me. My knees wobbled, and the bouquet slipped from my hands, the roses hitting the floor softly. I wanted to run, but my feet wouldn't move. I stood there, numbed, the stinging in my heart piercing deeper as their conversation and deep kiss continued without any of them aware I was listening to everything. They had no idea I was right outside the door "So when are you breaking up with her? I'm tired of pretending," Selene murmured and my hands covered my mouth, stifling a sob. This couldn’t be real. Why is she doing this to me? “As soon as school starts. I can’t wait to dump her.” Jaden’s voice dripped with disdain, and I felt the last shred of hope inside me shatter to pieces. Without hesitation, I pushed the door open and barged in. Their heads snapped toward me, eyes wide with shock. Jaden looked as if he’d seen a ghost, while Selene frantically pulled the duvet over her naked body, avoiding my gaze. “What are you doing here?” Jaden growled, “I thought you said she was away…” Selene stammered at Jaden, her face flushed with shame. “She lied.” Jaden rolled his eyes, running his fingers through his hair. Tears spilled from my cheeks as I stared at her, the flickering pain of betrayal eating me deep, my mouth open but hard to speak. “Selene…Why?” I managed to say, but my voice was barely above whispers. Memories of our friendship flashed in my head and I wondered where I went wrong to deserve this from her. I could remember how she encouraged me to trust Jaden, how she always said I was lucky to be his woman. And now, she was here asking him to break up with me. Selene tucked a strand of her blonde hair behind her ear, blinking rapidly as her green eyes finally met mine with what I could only assume was guilt. “Diane... I’m sorry.” she breathed. I shook my head, trying to dry my tears with the back of my palm but it won't stop falling. The pain was too intense, too deep like a knife was stabbed into my chest and twisted. “For how long?” My voice cracked, and I could hear Jaden groaning in frustration. “Enough with the drama,” he snapped, turning to Selene. “You have nothing to apologize for. I should have ended things with her sooner.” My eyes moved to him as I felt a wave of disgust rush through me. “I was planning to break up with you,” Jaden continued, his voice cold. “It’s not entirely my fault, Diane. You were so focused on your books, and you wouldn’t even let me touch you. How can you say you love me and not want to sleep with me?” I stared at him in disbelief, my hands clenched into fists. “All you wanted was to win your friend's stupid dare, Jaden. I heard everything. You never loved me.” His eyes flickered in shock, and I saw the glint of guilt before it disappeared behind his usual arrogance. He hissed and looked away. “And you, Selene. You were only helping him all along to use and dump me. And I called you my best friend!” Selene fidgeted, mumbling. “ I am so sorry. The feelings started on my birthday when he—” “Shut up!” I snapped, the sound of her voice was making me mad as my whole body shook with anger and pain. “Go to hell, bitch!” I couldn't stand there for another second, regretting the day I met them. With a loud hiss, I turned sharply and walked out, kicking the bouquet of flowers that was still lying outside the door. The only thing I heard next was the door getting slammed shut and locked, as if they couldn't wait for me to leave so they would continue. Stumbling out of the building, I waved down a taxi, and hopped in. “Where to?” The driver asked. “To the nearest bar,” I muttered, wiping my tears away. I have never been a fan of alcohol, nor had I gone to a club before but today I will ease my pain with all that. Also fuck virginity because I would have fun and give that up to any handsome man I get attracted to in there tonight. I don't care.Just when I thought everything was well planned out, it came crashing and turning all sour. Someone was behind the shadows ruining my mission just so I wouldn’t gain my freedom. My chest rumbled, and rage boiled inside me like a raging fire. I could feel my whole body burning, veins red and sprouting as I clenched my teeth to control myself. The last time I felt this way was when my father was killed, and now it was back. That monster that turned me into a villain, killing every trace of empathy inside me. My eyes moved to the gate where Diane had rushed in, and I felt like a knife was stabbed to my chest. All I wanted was to keep it a secret and finish this mission; then we would live that life I dreamed of. But someone from my organization decided to destroy it all. “Just pray I don’t get you!” I bellowed, entering the car and zooming off to the location Sofia had sent to me. As I got close, I found out it was her house. She called me as soon as the gate was opened for me
“No, I don’t.” I snapped, “Tell me what is going on! What did she read in those files that made her say what she said? Apart from you being a mafia member, what else is the reason she has to put you in jail?! What are you not telling me?!”“Diane, the mistake we made is allowing those files to get to her hand. Now I have to find a way to get it without any negotiation because I don’t think she will offer any reasonable one.”“Why do you think so? She is our friend!” I retorted, but he let out an empty chuckle.“She is not our friend. Even if she is, now she has gone through that document, it is all over.”“What did she read in it?” I asked. “Tell me!”He paused, looking me in the eyes, filled with different emotions I couldn’t understand. He tried saying something but clamped his lips shut, shaking his head. “I can’t tell you.” He breathed, and just then his phone beeped. He checked and quickly distanced himself from me.Leo’s POVI really wonder where I went wrong in my plan. Diane's POV It was like cold water was splashed all over my body, my blood running cold as I stared at him hoping he would tell me it was a prank or some sort of funny joke just to tease me.But none of that happened. I watched him collapse on the chair there, his eyes shimmering with anxiety and the veins in his arms and neck sprouting harshly.I moved closer and picked up the bag, turning it upside down, allowing everything in it to pour out. Just a few of my books, the pistol, and the cellphone, but that document wasn’t there. I was sure it was there when I left for Sofia's place. Why did I not check before leaving?I slept off, and once I woke, I ran out without telling her just so I wouldn’t have to give her the explanation she demanded. My mind didn’t think of rechecking my bag. But why would she sneak into the room and take this?“Who took it?” Leo asked as those fiery eyes landed on me.“I really don’t know, but… I can only suspect Sofia.”“Were you sleeping? How did you allo
I entered a taxi and went back home.“Go to a forest and hide all you took from this house that could implicate me. For now, I am a suspect, and the cops can barge in anytime!” I typed and sent it to my men. They weren’t among those I suspect because none of them knows of the safe lock inside my office, so they aren’t the ones who gave this information to the cops. I took a quick bath and dressed up in casual wear, covering my face with a cap before heading out through the back door.I had a feeling someone was keeping an eye on me, so I had to sneak out secretly to avoid being followed since I was heading to Diane’s house. I don’t want any of this to be linked with her. She is just too innocent to be involved in this even though I had made her do a lot for me today. She hadn’t called me yet or sent any text. I don’t expect any because she would be really angry at me. That’s if it hadn’t turned to hatred because she must have seen what those files contained.I was just lucky she didn’
Imagine the world knowing about my relationship with my teacher, who turned out to be a mafia gang. I would be an accomplice to whatever evil he had committed.“I have to make a call to my father then.” She sighed, giving me a suspicious look. “But you have to tell me everything! No lies and secrets between us!”I nodded hard as I looked ahead, and they were almost done with the car in front of us.She made the call, her voice low as she discussed it with her father. My heart was racing, and I was panting, praying silently for God to save me the last time.“Lower your head and lie low. They must not see you…” She mouthed to me, and I did as she said immediately. It worked. I heard someone telling the cops to allow us to pass after the window was rolled down and they saw her. Whoever her father was, he must be a powerful man to make them give an exception to her.We drove out and kept a distance away before I poked out my head, exhaling heavily.“Thank you so much….” I sniffed, hugging
Diane's POV I couldn’t believe my eyes as I watched the cops put the handcuff around his wrist, confusion written all over his face, but he didn’t struggle or try to contest. My eyes wandered around, and I could see the bewildered look on everyone’s face as they stared at him, unsure if they could possibly believe he was a killer.Leo’s eyes fell on me at that moment, and I could see sadness and disbelief in there. It was as if someone betrayed and sold him out.My heart squeezed tight, and every part of me froze as I sniffed the tears that welled up in my eyes. It was like slow motion as Leo was taken away, disappearing from my eyes just after he had promised he wouldn't be caught. How did they trace it to him? Didn’t he assure me that all evidence was cleared? And also, he told me he didn’t kill Jaden’s father, so why are they accusing him of that too?He was poisoned. How could he possibly kill someone? But then I remembered Helen was dead too, so there was no one to confess to hi
