Theodore

I take a deep breath, letting my hands slide over my face as I push it back out.

My heart is about to shatter and its shards to explode out of my chest at how hard it beats.

The display keeps flashing up, and the ringtone I had selected especially for my mother dances through the room.

I take a sip from my beer, shaking my head. “How idiotic to choose something so ridiculous,” I mutter to myself as my skin continues to crawl at the sound.

Keeping convincing myself that I have to keep the line free for Helades, I try to calm my racing heart and withstand my urge to pick up.

It has been two days since he last called me into his office and I started the training with Dimitiros.

Helga gave me a corrected card so that I could now ride the right elevators, and I even got to fill out all the forms with Gilda.

I thought I would be happy about being left in peace and being paid nonetheless, but that doesn’t describe at all what I am feeling right now.

This is just embarrassing

Nathanael He is everywhere. My mind is filled with him constantly. So much that it is getting alarming. And my brain really would need a break. How is he even surviving like that? I clear my throat as I approach his apartment door. As soon as I am in a certain proximity, his thoughts flood my mind, invading mine like a million-men-strong army. Groaning, I move my head from one side to another, trying to release a bit of tension off my shoulders. I have sometimes experienced this type of thing with a blood slave too, but it lasted not more than a few seconds, barely long enough to capture their ecstatic thoughts. Never, and I mean never ever, was it that bad. It must have something to do with our Goddess-given connection. What a scam. Even after weeks of drinking his blood, I still hear his thoughts like I had just gotten it a second ago. They are so clear and bouncy in my mind that sometimes it still scares me. Sighing, I close my eyes as I hear him think

Theodore “I beg your pardon?” I blink as the doctor checks my results again. “It looks like it is something you have had since birth. Often, people with the same health condition don't find that until they have to undergo an operation in their old age, so it’s not something substantially problematic, but if not treated, and abused like in your case, it can become a problem.” The doctor crosses his hands over my file as he looks at me with a serious expression, and I lean back. “Oh.” Honestly, that was not my first thought when I heard ‘congenital heart defect’. But well…As I feel my heart suddenly hurting in my chest, I pinch my shirt, rubbing my fingers against my skin. “So, what does this mean?” “It means that I will tell your boss that you are not fit enough to be doing this job, and that you are risking serious consequences if you go on like this,” he explains calmly. I nod repeatedly, just until his words reach my brain, and it takes him a bit too long to register them pro

TheodoreI tap my fingers against my legs nervously as I wait for the nurse to call my name.Glancing at the table next to me, I hold back from taking up and reading the magazine for the fourth time.Dude, I have a fucking appointment. What is this attitude?Maybe Helades did say something about me, and they are treating me like this on purpose.Which would actually be a really bad red flag, as I’m looking like the walking dead.As I wait for my name to be called in an absolutely empty waiting room, I close my eyes, pushing out a deep breath and leaning my head against the wall.

Theodore My heart skips a beat as I find him standing in front of the large set of windows. The blends are fully open for the first time, enabling me to see the city lights and the skyline. I stare in awe as I fight myself to tear my eyes from him, keeping my urge down to ogling him as he is standing directly by the glass, looking outside with his hands in his pockets. He looks like a king watching over his city, and I drive my hand through my hair as I try to hide my smile at that. “Are you having any connectivity issues?” I ask, throwing in one of the few words I know to get his attention on me.He sighs, turning around. “No. I just got a call from them. It looks like they are the ones having the problem.” “Sweet,” I answer automatically, cringing at it. “No, sorry, it’s…” I stutter, wanting to justify my stupid reaction. Just as my thoughts are crumbling to dust as my brain cells stumble over them in panic, I freeze as he chuckles. My eyes widen as I see him clearly smile, e

Theodore Gilda whistles as she steps into the cave, looking around in awe. Not that there was anything left to see at this hour. “Hey, baby girl,” I greet her with a smile, and my stomach growls instinctively as the mouthwatering smell of the small food box she is holding in her hands reaches my greedy nostrils. “So, this is where you are hiding from us?” she giggles as she approaches me with slow steps while continuing to inspect her surroundings. I crane my neck, my mouth drying out as I pray that she plans to share the food with me. “Yeah, at least I try to.” For a split second, I think about if I should talk about my shortened pay to her, as she maybe could give me some hints on how I could address it with Helades, but I reject the thought right away as I really don’t want her to get pulled into my problems. Also, I really like her and would hate for her to lose her job too soon because of me. As much as I could see, she is doing a great job and I am dreading the moment of

Theodore I stretch myself with a groan after I have been sitting at my desk for hours. First, I was annoyed and bored, but strangely, I didn’t even notice how the time passed as I was deep in thought. Soon enough, my eyes were glued to the screens showing the gamers doing their thing, and my thoughts kept spiralling into the nothingness of my brain. I couldn’t even say what I was thinking about as I get hypnotized by the flickering screens, amazed at how they play without making any noises at all. No screams of joy or growls of anger.Nobody who cusses out their teammates. Just gaming for the sake of it. Something to pass their time at work. Only a mechanical clicking of a few guys who seem to have become zombies. As the clock strikes five o’clock, everybody just stops doing what they are doing. They turn off their games and shut down their computer, and a low murmur dances through the room as they leave one by one. As usual, nobody takes notice of me, and I have stopped sh
