Chapter 2/Shortstack

Standing in front of the Turner Organization

building was like standing in front of a giant.

Being only five feet tall, Sabrina hated coming across tall objects/people, and she avoids them as much as she could cause they always remind her of how short she is.

“Why does this motherfucker have to be so tall." Sabrina mumbled to herself annoyed before entering the building.

The Insides of the Turner Organization was busy as usual, you have people going in and out on doors all the time and crowded hallways. Passing through the security of the company wasn't even hard, but passing through Shawn's secretary might be a challenge.

“Do you have a scheduled appointment with Mr. Turner ma'am?” The woman who Sabrina assumed to be Shawn's secretary asked her with a fake smile.

“No.” Sabrina responded quickly.

“Then, I'm sorry I cannot let you in.” The woman also responded swiftly.

“I don't have a scheduled appointment with Mr. Turner because I'm just here to represent my brother,” Sabrina lied. “He wasn't able to make an appointment yesterday because he too himself was busy, and I believe so as Mr. Turner, they've been business partners for years.” She added.

“What's the name of your brother?” The woman asked, looking at Sabrina up and down with judging eyes before looking down at her iPad.

“Brandon Clarke.” Sabrina answered, and the woman instantly clicked something on the screen.

"OK, found him, you may come in.” The woman looked up from her iPad and gestured Sabrina to enter the room with glass doors.

Shawn's office is exactly what Sabrina expected it to be, except for the fact that there was two fairly organized desks in his office.

Growing up with a family who runs businesses and has numerous companies, Sabrina find it odd seeing two desks in an office that was supposed to be for the CEO and the CEO himself only.

But she wasn't here for that.

As soon as Sabrina walked through the door, Shawn noticed her right away, he instantly stood up and walked to her straight up.

“I don't remember making an appointment with you, Ms. Clarke and you coming here without one is very unprofessional.” He said now standing in front of her. Shawn was a few years older than Sabrina, so he looked a little older, but Sabrina also isn't denying the fact that he was pretty hot for his age if she wasn't here for business she would have him take her in that desk.(Yeah, her mind already went there)

“Well, let's just say that it was urgent.” She said looking up at him. He was basically towering her considering their height difference.

“Oh well, let's take a seat and discuss why you're here, I have a very busy day ahead of me and I do not have time for nonsense Ms.

Clarke.” He said making eye contact with Sabrina.

“Oh please, If this was nonsense, I wouldn't be here.” She said, rolling her eyes while taking a seat in front of Shawn's desk.

“Why are you here and what do I owe this visit for?” He asked once he was seated.

“Arnold Dennis and Dean Roderick.” Sabrina said, which made him seem a little uneasy.

“What about them?” He asked, playing dumb.

“Don't act like you don't know, basically almost everyone in the city knew the issue about you and them since last year,” Sabrina said. “They filed a lawsuit against the Turner Organization last year about illegal document issues.” She added.

“Well, what does this have to do with you being here in my office right now?" Shawn asked, sounding as professional as possible.

This boy and his professionalism, Sabrina thought to herself.

“Let's just say that I had my license last week, and now I'm an official and authorized lawyer.” Sabrina spoke.

“Okay, I'm going to stop you right the-” He responded but was quickly cut off by

Sabrina tossing a flash drive in his desk.

Shawn was confused, very confused.

“What is this?” He asked, which formed a smirk on the manipulative blonde's face.

“Play it.”

*~*~*~*~*~*~

“Sabrina, I need that thing.” Shawn said very seriously after watching all the things that Sabrina had in the flash drive. Turns out that she had a lot of evidence that proves Arnold and Dean are actually just setting up the Turner organization, and all their accuses and claims are false and are all made up.

“Hire me.” Sabrina said.

“No.” Shawn refused for the millionth time.

“Then no.” She also refused.

“But-” He spoke again but was again quickly cut off by Sabrina.

“I made the research,” Sabrina said, sitting back up straight. “I got all the evidence on my own and yet, it only took me two weeks while you and your other, and I'm saying this in the most Non-judging way possible 'gray haired', lawyers have been going on trial for a year now and still, you haven't won the case.” Sabrina said, with the evidence of clear manipulation in her voice.

“Unbelievable.” He mumbled under his breath now, considering hiring Sabrina to represent him and his company's name on the legal system.

He knew that he was being manipulated, but it just seemed so right.

“Totally believable.” Sabrina said, startling him from his thoughts.

She got him and they both know it.

Shawn cleared his throat and spoke again

“Aside from winning my case, what else can you offer?” He asked Sabrina, which got the girl's expression change from smug to serious. Then she spoke.

“Resilience, I Know how professional you are and how you always stick with it,” Sabrina said bitting her bottom lip inching closer to Shawn. “Even though you always make an appointment first before meeting with someone in connect to business, consider me an exception, you can just hit me up whenever you need my help in connect to the case.” She added sincerely while slowly sitting back to her previous position.

He knew it when she lied, it's not that she's a bad liar, it's just like an instinct to him. He knew her schemes, and he's pretty sure that this one isn't one of them.

The damn authenticity was just too much.

And that's all that it took for him to hire her.

“Where do I sign?”
