Melano’s eyes went wide open, and her entire body locked up right there in the doorway. She stood frozen, completely confused.

She was here to prove herself as the sharp, reliable lawyer for a massive development project funded by foreign investors. Now, she was staring at one of the main founders, the exact same handsome guy whose luxury BMW she had badly smashed just this morning.

A wave of panic hit her. She felt small, dismantled, and suddenly very scared. Melano looked at Alistair like a child who had just broken something expensive and was waiting to get yelled at. Her heart raced as she prepared herself for a cold, angry, or reproaching reaction from the powerful businessman. But she received the exact opposite.

Alistair was staring back with the same wide-eyed, surprised face, but he didn't look angry at all. Instead, he looked incredibly happy. He was completely amazed, utterly bewitched by her glaring beauty all over again. He simply could not believe his eyes. Seeing her walk into his boardroom struck him like lightning for the second time today.

The heavy silence stretched between them for a few intense seconds. Breaking his own trance, Alistair managed to slowly push himself up from his chair. He couldn't form a single word, his voice completely trapped in his throat. Instead, he just looked directly into her eyes and gave her a polite, light bow, his face glowing with pure wonder.

“So, ladies and gentlemen, please meet Miss Melano, one of the most talented civil lawyers in Georgia, and not only. She is experienced in civil disputes, mediation, and even practices international legal issues. I have invited her to attend our board meeting and provide consultation about the development project that the government has created problems with.”  Spoke up another director, an old Dutch man Mr. Meyer.

Melano greeted everyone politely, forcing her voice to remain steady, and sat down at her designated place at the round table. Her hands were slightly shaking as she arranged her files, still feeling the weight of Alistair's gaze.

Alistair heard none of the director's words. The introduction, the project details, the government issues, it all turned into background static. He just kept staring at her, completely captivated by how seamlessly she transitioned from the chaotic street into this high-powered environment.

The meeting started, and the room filled with the sounds of opening folders and corporate presentations. Yet, the only reality for Alistair was the woman sitting across from him…This dark haired, dark eyed and extremely charming young lady, who was exchanging sharp glances with him, without even smiling at him, as if she was seeing him for the first time. But it was intriguing and exciting for Alistair. He managed to whisper to David, his friend and security chief who was in his car when the accident happened, and was now sitting next to him:

“This is her, right?”

Nodding his head happily with a big smile on his face, David reached out to his laptop, not to look like an only idiot smiling during official meeting.

By the way, David was Alistair's right hand in business affairs and not only, he also was familiar with his love affairs and relationships, followed and supported him everywhere. David knew his adventures and secrets, his taste in food, drink, entertainment and women...

Alistair had never experienced love as such, at least that's what he said to himself, he didn't believe in love and attraction, but only in passion and one-time, unanswered relationships. He had never been loyal to a woman for more than a year in his life, and that was exactly how he looked at Melano now. But at first unconsciously, his mind was following the voice of carnal passions.

"Somebody up there really likes me," he thought to himself and nothing has ever made him as happy as he was when Melano opened up her tasty lips and started talking.

She was talking very official business, mentioned legal issues, ways out of the company's problem with construction permission and so on.

Alistair was looking forward to completion of the meeting, so that he could talk to her again. Meanwhile he drank three cups of strong coffee.

Readers, I really don't know if anything like this has ever happened to you, but honestly, the feeling Alistair was experiencing at the moment was the peak of contentment. But his astonishment was groundless, his hope for making out with Melano was reckless, he was destined to experience bitter heartbreak very soon.

  • Sunlight, that I see   Decision made

My love has no limits. It stands above everything and everyone. It is the most important emotion for me, in this whole world. But what I feel for you… I still don’t know if it is love or something even greater, Melano.”The couple escaped the hot summer night and stayed at a hotel outside the city. They enjoyed being alone, simply looking at each other. They forgot about everyone else and needed nothing more. In fact, whenever they heard someone walking nearby, they would immediately become uncomfortable and look at each other as if to say, "What is this person doing here?"Despite their incredible happiness, Alistair had something important to discuss with Melano.“You know, we need to talk…” he said quietly. They were sitting outside in a comfortable chair in a small gazebo, while Melano was almost asleep with her head resting on his shoulder. He gently moved her hair away from her eyes.“Not now… please.” Melano had a good idea what he wanted to talk about.“We have to talk now. Pl

  • Sunlight, that I see   Mother's sorrow

Alistair was not dead. He had been taken to the hospital and undergone surgery, but thankfully, his wound was no longer life-threatening. Melano could not see him for several days because there were guards outside his room, and only close family members were allowed to enter.Noah was arrested, but he had a video of Melano in which she said that she had gone with him willingly. This made the case more complicated. Proving that Melano had recorded the video under pressure would take time, so Noah was released on bail while the investigation continued.A few days later, Melano finally managed to enter Alistair’s room. Amanda was standing over him in a white hospital gown and gently ran her hand across his forehead. When she saw Melano, she quietly gave her the chair.“How is he?” Melano asked carefully, not wanting to wake him.“He’s better now. He had a fever, but it’s gone. He’s strong. The bullet didn’t go too deep, but it damaged some tissue and tendons. We’ll have to see how well h

  • Sunlight, that I see   More than life

Friends could not convince Alistair to wait until morning, so there was no other choice. All four of them, David and three security officers, went with him. Nino begged them to take her along too, but they firmly refused. However, David asked her to stay on the line and said they would call her so she could guide them more precisely to the location and make sure they didn’t get lost. Nino had actually been to this ancient village in eastern Georgia before and was able to give them an approximate location, but it was impossible to drop an exact pin.It was almost dawn when Alistair’s car entered the narrow lane in the village that was marked on the map. As soon as they entered, David warned him, “Turn off the headlights and drive very slowly.”All five of them were armed, but going into an unfamiliar place against an unknown threat was risky and dangerous.Slowly, the narrow lane came to an end, and they reached a small gray gate, beyond which it was already difficult to make anything

  • Sunlight, that I see   Summer House

Melano’s apartment, the building yard, and security room were completely crowded with police officers. From the footage of the outside cameras, the investigators determined that a man dressed in black, whose appearance matched the man captured on the security cameras, Noah, had climbed from the roof of Melano’s house directly onto her balcony, broken the glass, and entered the apartment that way.Alistair had gone pale with anxiety and could barely breathe, but at the same time, he felt some relief because it had been confirmed that Melano had not abandoned him, as she had a year ago."I’ll find you. I’ll find you soon, my love," he thought, speaking to the woman he loved more than the universe, in his mind.Just then, a message arrived on his phone from Melano’s number.“How are you, dear Alistair? You’re wasting your time. Melano is with me, yes, and I took her with the intention of starting a family. Do you know what that means? According to Georgian tradition, she is already my wi

  • Sunlight, that I see   Disappeared

Alistair woke up early in the morning. When he opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was Melano's bare shoulders and incredibly beautiful back. She was wrapped in a thin sheet and sleeping peacefully. It was the first time Alistair had woken up in the morning beside the woman he loved. A sweet shiver ran through his body, and his heart filled with love. He gently kissed Melano on the shoulder and got out of bed.Light was coming through the window, so he quickly drew the curtains to keep it from waking her. Alistair wasn't in a hurry to leave, but he had something to deal with concerning Bonnie, so he had to go. He called David and asked him to come pick him up by car. He would leave his motorcycle outside Melano's building so it would look as though he had never gone anywhere. It was a clever plan, but Alistair had no idea that Noah had a direct source feeding him information.David poured himself a cup of coffee, and around the same time, Melano woke up too. She went straight to t

  • Sunlight, that I see   Temptation

Melano lay in a scented bath while soft, soothing music played in the background.Ever since Alistair's visit to her office, her mind had been in absolute turmoil. Grief tore at her heart, while her pragmatic half bitterly scolded her: "How could you ever fall in love with him?" But her heart told her something else. Deep down, she knew Alistair was the man meant for her, and she would never, ever be able to forget him.Alistair briefly explained to the building's security that he was heading to Melano's apartment, and they quickly understood there was no need to announce him. He approached her door with cautious steps, paused to listen for anything suspicious inside, and then pressed the doorbell in one long, continuous ring.Melano didn't hear it at first, which sent a wave of anxiety through Alistair, he knew she was home, and why she wasn't getting the door? He began ringing more frantically, pounding with aggressive urgency; a moment more, and he would have broken down the door.
