Angelica’s POV

Meeting Joffrey was like a breath of fresh air, as I felt like I had been saved from my own party by him. It was crazy to see that I wasn’t the only one with parents who wished to mate their child off, and that he wanted no part in it, like myself.

Turns out that Joffrey’s father was old school, and he believed one of the requirements to being an Alpha was to find a mate suited to be a Luna before taking the role, explaining why he was still an Alpha at his age. It was clear that Joffrey was in no hurry to find his mate, or someone to fulfill that position, just so he could take the reign as Alpha.

The more the two of us talked, the more I was finding solace in our conversation, and I was actually starting to enjoy my evening, even taking the dance floor a few more times between our conversations, for good measures of convincing our parents that it was more than it was. But it was clear that the agreement that we had made between us was turning more into an actual friendship than a verbal contract that would be dismissed by the end of the night.

Even though neither of us were interested in fulfilling our parents’ wishes with each other, something was forming between us far greater than either of us had anticipated, and that was a friendship built on our desperation to keep our free will.

As we danced on the dance floor to a slower song, Joffrey began to tell me about his ambitious desires to travel the world and see what was out there, before he took his oath to become the Alpha of his father’s pack. He explained to me that he felt like once he took that oath, he was giving up all his own desires in life, and he didn’t want to have any regrets left behind before he took on the responsibilities as Alpha.

His confession of his desires really hit home, as I too felt like I was burdened with my parents’ desires for me. Lately, I had a feeling deep inside of me that I couldn’t shake, that something was outside these walls calling to me. I had chalked it all up to my birthday approaching, but the feeling remained even after that day came, and I now find myself obsessed with finding out what it could be. But unfortunately, I couldn’t share this with Joffrey, as I had to keep my powers a secret, even to my own kind, as my parents still feared what could happen to me if they were revealed to those outside of our small circle of family and friends.

The song came to an end, and I moved to take a step back from Joffrey, giving him a slight bow to his amazing dancing skills, which were making me look like I knew what I was doing on the dance floor, when it had been him leading the whole time. As I raised my head back up to look at him, something caught my eye, and I quickly moved my attention behind him to a shadowy figure, as the unexplained feeling I had inside of me grew. My heart began to race in my chest, as the temperature inside of me rose, and I felt myself taking another step back from Joffrey, as I began to feel lightheaded.

My eyes remained on the shadow figure, as I tried to see its face, hidden behind the shadow of a cloak, while it stood there, unfazed by those around it, making me wonder if I was imagining things. “You are mine.” Now echoed in my head, as if the words were spoken as a claim for only me to hear, while the guests around me felt like they were beginning to disappear from my vision, one by one.

My heart now felt like it was beating out of my chest, as I stood there staring back at the cloaked figure, wondering what the heck was happening to me, while I tried to just do the simplest thing as to breathe. It was as if I could feel the life force inside of me being siphoned from deep within me, as I began to sway on my feet, trying to find the strength within me to remain standing.

“Angelica.” I faintly heard Joffrey say, as he reached for me, taking me in his arms, while I tried to remain standing with my own freewill, but my head now felt like it was going to explode, while I fought to keep my eyes open, still staring at the cloak figure behind him.

The once dim room now became bright, as the music came to a halt, making me wonder if I was making a spectacle of myself, in the middle of the dance floor. But as I tried to keep my eyes open, not wanting to look away from the cloak figure, the light became too bright, and I found myself closing my eyes, as I now heard Joffrey calling out for my father, “Alpha Jaxson!”

Before I knew what was happening, I could feel the exchange of my body into my father’s arms, as he lifted me off my feet and began to carry me from the room, but as I opened my eyes, the bright light remained surrounding us.

“Stay with me, baby girl.” I faintly heard my father say, as a whistling sound began to fill my ears, the further he walked with me in his arms.

My head honestly felt like it was going to explode, as I cried out in pain, not caring now who heard me. Something was clearly happening to me, and something told me that the figure in the cloak had something to do with it, making me wonder if he was a warlock.

The night’s crisp air now fell against my flesh, telling me that my father had removed me from the house. Taking a few more steps with me in his arms, the power of the moon now hit me like a brick, as my back arched and chest rose to the sky in my father’s arms, feeling the pull of its power, while my wolf came alive inside of me with a fury.

“I knew this was too soon.” My mother’s voice now said, telling me she was with me too, before my father stopped, and lowered my body to the cool earth beneath his feet, as my wolf now let out a howl, wanting to be freed to protect me from whatever this was happening to me.

A cool hand now touched my shoulder, and I knew exactly who it was, before I even heard Selena’s voice say, “Shut the party down. She isn’t doing this to herself.”

My father let out a growl, hearing that I was being attacked under his own roof, and I knew that I had to find my voice to warn him about the cloaked figure that I had seen. Pulling the power of the moon into me, giving me the strength I needed, I finally found my will to speak, as I open my eyes and say, “There’s a man in a black cloak.”

As the words came from my lips, the light around me instantly faded, and the feeling of being siphoned disappeared as quickly as it started.

Joffrey’s POV I could feel Angelica’s powers coursing through my veins like a ravage storm at sea, as I tried to control my thirst for more of her blood, but seeing her body so frail in her father’s arms right now, simmered the thirst within me. Alpha Bishop cautiously moved towards me, now knowing that my vampire side was showing itself, as he asks me, “Are you under control?” Shaking my head, I told him I was, as my eyes remained on Angelica, making sure that she was okay, because I would never forgive myself if she wasn’t. Just like myself, it was clear that she wasn’t worried about herself, as she tried to stand on her own, asking her father, “Is Joffrey, okay? I need to see him.” Alpha Jaxson’s eyes moved to look at me, before he says to her, “Joffrey is fine.” But that didn’t stop her from wanting to come to me, as she once again tried to break free from her father’s hold to get to me. Taking a deep

  • Sunstone - Tainted by Enemy's Blood   Chapter 93

Angelica’s POV My Uncle Bishop and my father began to move around the ballroom trying each of the doors for themselves, but none of them would open, making me wonder if it was my turn again in this game the heir was playing with us. How many trials of fear was the heir going to make us face, and was this game he was playing with us ever going to end? Fear began to sink into me, that this was our hell, and that we were going to be trapped in it for the rest of eternity, as I stood in the middle of the ballroom floor, deciding on which door to pick. Letting go of Joffrey’s hand, I moved to the back of the ballroom to the door that led outside, hoping that it was the door that would lead us out of this hell of a game. But as I took a deep breath, and placed my hand on the handle, I realized quickly that the handle wasn’t moving, making me wonder what game the heir was playing with us now. I wanted to scream out in frustration, but I held it

  • Sunstone - Tainted by Enemy's Blood   Chapter 92

Angelica’s POV I knew by the look on Joffrey’s face that he was scared to see what lay on the other side of the door, but we had no other choice, as the debris continued to fall through the hole, pushing us to face it. This time my father grabbed a hold of my arm, pulling me in front of him, as Joffrey finally opened the door and stepped inside. Stepping through the door to join Joffrey, I wondered what his worst fear could have been, but as my eyes focused on the room around me, I was stunned to see where I was standing. Joffrey stood in silence with his head down in the middle of the ballroom at my parents’ house, as if he was ashamed to look at anyone, making me wonder why or how the night of my ball could have been his biggest fear. It was definitely one of my own, because it was the night that the heir had first violated me by siphoning my powers, but I didn’t understand how it was his. “Well, isn’t this interesting.” My father says

  • Sunstone - Tainted by Enemy's Blood   Chapter 91

Angelica’s POV As my father opened the front door, a white light beamed into the cabin, before my father stepped into the light, without a second of hesitation, knowing with what I had just said, that the door would lead him to my mother. But as we stepped through the door, unfortunately my mother was nowhere in sight, and we stood in what looked like a basement, with a huge hole in the floor above our heads. A growl instantly radiated from my father, and my Uncle Bishop quickly moved to his side to comfort him, knowing that my father failed to take us to my mother, even though I know he tried. It was clear his darkest fear still lay there the night he thought he had lost my mother to Tyler, and that was where the heir had taken us with the little game he was playing. “There is still hope. We are now inside the house. Maybe the heir is somewhere inside the house with them.” My Uncle Bishop tells my father with hope, but I knew that was a

  • Sunstone - Tainted by Enemy's Blood   Chapter 90

Angelica’s POV “What the bloody hell?” Joffrey asks, as he quickly moves to my side, while my father says, “This is impossible.” As he races towards the window, peering outside. “I don’t understand. How are we in my cabin?” My Uncle Bishop asks, while he begins to look around, moving from room to room, as if he was looking for something. Moving away from the window, my father begins to shake his head, and I can see the dread in his eyes, thinking that we were hundreds of miles away from my mother, but in reality, I knew we weren’t, or at least I prayed we weren’t. A loud click came from behind us, making us all turn to see my Uncle Bishop coming out of his bedroom with a shotgun in his hand, while he says, “This mother fucker wants to play games, then games are what we will play.” Just as those words came from his lips, there was a knock on the front door, making us all turn to now look at it, as a voice e

  • Sunstone - Tainted by Enemy's Blood   Chapter 89

Angelica’s POV The brighter light that we had seen at the end of the tunnel we were in only proved itself to be a mouth that opened to three new tunnels and a choice that needed to be made. My father and my Uncle Bishop stood before the three tunnels arguing with each other on which tunnel they should take, knowing that time was precious, and my mother was somewhere here on the grounds, or even beneath the ground like we were. Stepping away from Joffrey, I moved in front of the first tunnel, closing my eyes, as I opened my senses, trying to sense the heir’s powers, as I focused down that particular tunnel, but felt nothing. Slowly, I moved to the next tunnel doing the same thing as they continued to contemplate which tunnel to take, but I still felt nothing, making me think that I was stupid to think that I could figure this out for them. I was about to give up, as my father was insisting on taking the first tunnel, when I felt a slight

  • Sunstone - Tainted by Enemy's Blood   Chapter 88

Angelica’s POV Stepping through the front door, it didn’t take me long to realize that we had just stepped through a portal, and we were no longer above the earth’s surface, but in what looked like a caving system, deep beneath the ground. “What the hell?” Joffrey said, as he held my hand tightly in his, pulling me back towards him, while the two of us took in our dimly lit new surroundings. Just up ahead of us, I faintly could make out the silhouettes of my father and my Uncle Bishop, as the two of them move towards a more predominant light at the end of the tunnel we were now standing in. Taking a deep breath, I began to slightly cough, as the air seemed stale to me, like it had no ventilation to the fresh air on the earth’s surface, making me wonder how deep beneath the surface we were. Knowing that we needed to keep up with my father and my uncle, I went to take a step forward but found myself reaching for the wall of

  • Sunstone - Tainted by Enemy's Blood   Chapter 87

Angelica’s POV “Let’s keep going.” My father said turning as he began to walk towards the front gates, with my Uncle Bishop by his side, as Joffrey stood there waiting for me along with Ambrogio. I knew I couldn’t keep this revelation to myself, as I was now sure that the telus the heir had still was working at full capacity. If I let all of them walk in there without this knowledge, I was possibly leading them all to their deaths, and I couldn’t do that. “Wait!” I called out, stopping my father and my uncle from taking another step, as they both turned and looked in my direction. Now that everyone was staring at me, I had to find a way to tell them that the telus was still working, without telling them everything that I now knew, which was going to be hard to do. “Something isn’t right.” I finally said, making Joffrey move closer to my side, as if he was trying to protect me from what I was about to say.

  • Sunstone - Tainted by Enemy's Blood   Chapter 86

Angelica’s POV Unfortunately, the bliss from our union only lasted its duration, as reality came rushing back this time like a freight train, while I realized we no longer had the upper hand on the heir. We were now heading to his territory, and on his terms, and he had hostages, making me pray that I had the strength to overcome what was needed from me. My mind was on overdrive trying to piece everything that had happened together, knowing that it all had to have a symbolic meaning to his plan, but what I couldn’t understand was the whole Talon and reversal of the spell of the telus. I mean the reversal spell had to have worked, I had felt my own powers returned to me that he had taken from me, but it didn’t make sense to me. Now that we knew that his plan was to resurrect his father, I would have thought that he needed as much power as he possibly could to perform whatever spell he was planning to use. By him giving up the power of the
