Chapter 13

Xena Sanders heard Alex Cohen's two-toned sentence and looked carefully at the string of numbers with a red face. She suddenly looked shocked.

"You actually have more than 5 million in your account?"

"That's 7 figures. It only took you a few minutes to get it, right? No wonder you’re a great leader! You have such great eyesight!"

Alex gave Xena a thumbs up and smoothly took back his phone.

"Mom, Lala and I truly love each other. Otherwise, we wouldn't have gotten our marriage certificates regardless of everything. I'm not going to divorce Lala even if you give me 5 million. Well...that's all I have to say."

At that critical moment, Alex held back from saying the words "unless you give me 50 million".

Back then, the penalty for breaking the contract with Isla was initially 5 million. To show that he would not go back on his word and so that he could get the money as quickly as possible, he casually said, "50 million is fine too.”

In the end, Isla took him at his word.

Before the appearance of Wayne Larson, no matter how much the penalty was set at, Alex did not care because he could not afford it anyhow!

Now that he had some financial means, if the penalty was 5 million, he could always slap the agreement in Isla’s face and told her that he would no longer continue their partnership. If it worked well, perhaps he would not even have to pay out of his own pocket and could get Xena Sanders to fork out that money.

Just because of his cheap mouth, the penalty became 50 million, and the chances of his plan succeeding were slim to none.

If he were to ask Wayne Larson for 50 million, it should not be a problem, but he was too embarrassed.

Besides, he did not want to pay that much money to Isla for nothing.

The best solution would be for Isla to initiate the termination of the partnership, which was almost impossible. The other way was to reverse the situation and put Isla in a passive position, which was still slightly hopeful. If Isla had a boy toy and if he found solid evidence, he could use it as leverage to negotiate with her...

Alex was done lamenting, so he left Starbucks and rushed straight into Isla’s office.

As soon as Isla saw him, her face darkened.

"Who allowed you to come here?"

He did not want to talk nonsense and asked urgently, "Who did you meet last night?"

"What's it to you?"

"I could care less about anything else, but the least you could do is explain this to me!"

"Son of a b*tch, who are you? Who gave you the right to question me? I'm warning you again. If you piss me off, you'll be in for a rude awakening! Don't think just because we live in the same house that you're on my level. Mind your identity! Don't come back to the office without my permission! Enough, you can f*ck off now!"

Isla went out with a report in her hands after she said that.

Alex's first reaction was to chase her and continue asking questions.

On second thought, women should be quite sensitive about having affairs, and even if she had one, she definitely would not admit it so easily.

It was far better to secretly investigate than to press her for an answer!

Alex slapped his head as he realized that he had been impulsive. If he had analyzed this earlier, he would not have had to make this trip for nothing and would not have alerted the enemy.

Unfortunately, there was no room for regrets in this world...

At 5:30 pm, Alex came back to Hudson Designs to meet with Felix Moore who had just finished work. They then rushed to the lobby of Quinn Shetford's office. He called to find out that Quinn had to work overtime, so they waited under the shade by the road.

Alex was bored and was browsing through car catalogs on his phone. Suddenly, he received a text message from Wayne Larson.
