Chapter 14

“Son, a young man named Big Ken will contact you. Just tell him your address when he does. I’ve asked him to send the gift I’ve prepared for you. It's something that you don't have now but will definitely be able to use. I hope you’ll like it!”

Wayne hinted but did not divulge what the gift was.

Alex also did not ask. He received a call from Big Ken shortly after and reported his location truthfully.

Half an hour later, Quinn Shetford got off work.

Alex and Felix met up with Quinn, and also bumped into an old classmate, Sukie Lane.

When Alex was a freshman in university, his first crush was Sukie Lane, and he had tried to pursue her for a while.

Later on, he learned that she was a vain person and he did not like that, so he gave up.

Unexpectedly, Felix Moore, during that time when Alex pursued Sukie, met Sukie’s hometown friend, Quinn Shetford. He then began to pursue Quinn and they eventually became a couple. They even broke the ultimate curse: "campus romance could not survive out of campus".

The old classmates met, but they were not at all friendly with each other. Instead, they disliked each other.

When Sukie was in school, she looked down on the poor students, especially Alex Cohen. She also looked down on Felix Moore, whose family was not much better. Even now that Felix and Quinn were both at the point of marriage, she would still act as a relationship expert from time to time and advised Quinn to reconsider.

At that moment, there was contempt in Sukie's eyes as she looked at Alex.

"I heard that you borrowed Quinn's money?"

Alex shrugged his shoulders.

"What do you have to say about it?"

"How dare you, a grown man, borrow money from a girl?"

Sukie glared at Alex and pointed her finger at Felix.

"You too! Are you brain-dead or did you have a bloody concussion? Don't you know that he's been out of work for months? Now you're lending him money. Isn't that like beating a dog with a slab of meat? Don’t tell me you expect him to pay off the debt with his PayPal referral rewards?"

Felix's temper was a bit more impulsive than Alex's, and the more he listened, the more infuriated he became. He said loudly, "Sukie Lane! First of all, Alex didn't borrow your money and no one has hired you to collect the debt on my behalf, so you have no say in this matter. Secondly, Alex has already paid me back."

"Borrowed for a day and paid it back? Felix Moore, it’s fine if you're just fooling yourself, but you still want to fool Quinn?"

"Then look carefully!"

Felix clicked on his PayPal account balance. No more, no less, just 50,000.

Now, Sukie felt embarrassed. Her face sank and she could not say anything.

At that moment, a white BMW X3 drove over and parked on the side of the road. A shirtless young man with a wing tattoo on his right arm got out of the car.

The cloud on Sukie's face instantly dissipated. She waved at the tattooed man and proudly said, "Let me introduce you to my boyfriend, Shane Locke. Felix Moore, weren’t you saving up to buy a house? You can hire him to check out the houses. You can also look for him if you want to buy a car. A buddy of his runs a car dealership."

Felix pressed his lips and said, "No need."

"Right, you've only saved tens of thousands. You can't even afford a toilet, let alone a car…”

Sukie completely forgot about the embarrassment just now and seized the opportunity to show off her superiority. She noticed that Alex was staring intently at Shane's car and rolled her eyes.

"What are you looking at? That's a BMW and it’s over 400,000. You couldn't afford it even if you stared your eyeballs out!"

Alex frowned, "Over 400,000?"

"I didn't think you'd still be so childish and have no self-awareness even a year after graduation! Back then, you had to pay for your classes in installments, but you still wanted to pursue me. It's the same as you wanting to buy a BMW now. You’re just a typical person who aspires for something you’re not even worthy of!"
