Chapter 7

Isla Sulivan was a very shrewd businesswoman and was always good at managing and controlling her emotions.

Even so, at that moment, she lost control and went mad pushing away Alex Cohen. She shouted harshly, "Son of a b*tch! Take a look in the mirror. You're a piece of trash who doesn't have ambition and who's willing to give up his dignity and face for money. Yet you still want me? Go live in your ridiculous dream!"

For Isla Sullivan, just thinking about having sex with Alex Cohen was disgusting, not to mention actually having sex with him!

Alex Cohen, who was poor for the 23 years of his life and humiliated for the past 3 months, had mastered the ability to control his emotions which were honed by his harsh reality. His control was much better than Isla’s. The main reason for that was because he had no money in his pocket, so he could not speak harshly. The grievances and anger he felt could only be suppressed in his heart.

To put it nicely, this was called a man's ability to bow and submit.

In essence, it was merely one word: wimp!

Now, Alex Cohen had the strength to fight back, but decided against it and pretended to be a wimp. He asked inquisitively, "Isla, even if it's a puppet, you should’ve found one that’s 10 times or 100 times better than me. Why don’t you...tear up the agreement and terminate our contract?"

"Tsk...I was wondering why you were so ballsy today! So you’re just deliberately provoking me? Alex Cohen, let me tell you. Although half a million is nothing to me, I won’t give it to you for free! You want to take the money and run? In your dreams!"

Isla was helpless. She obviously did not want to even look at Alex, but she had to maintain their relationship.

For one, she did not want Alex to get something without paying a price.

Secondly, it was already too late to find someone new.

As Isla thought of this, Xena Sanders called again, "Lala, is Alex home?"

Isla entered the bedroom, closed the door, adjusted herself, and as calm a tone as possible, she replied, "Yeah, he’s home."

"Then watch him and don't let him leave. Your father and I will be there soon. You two must finalize the divorce today. I’ve already contacted Jared Xavier this afternoon. He said that as long as you get divorced immediately, he's still willing to marry you and help our company get through this!"

"Mom, why do you have to force me?"

"I'm doing this for the family! Lala, don't be stubborn with me. You had two choices, either give us a grandbaby or let us earn more money. You chose to have a child, but you found a useless guy behind our backs. You're the one who blocked your own path, who else can you blame?"

Isla sat on her bed and anxiously pondered. As her eyes unintentionally swept over to the bedside table, she suddenly had a clever idea and quickly ran out to the living room. She called out to Alex.

"I promise you! As long as you cooperate with me to deal with Mom and Dad, I...will spend the night with you! What do you say?"

Alex frowned and replied, "I’m not asleep yet, but why am I in my dreamland?"

"I'm not joking! This is your one and only chance. The offer expires soon!"

"But you've missed the opportunity I gave you! If you still want my help, then you'll have to be in charge of all the chores from now on. In addition to spending one night with me!"

"Getting greedy now, aren’t you? Fine...I promise you!"

Isla's promise was pretty quick.

As excited as Alex was, he still felt that something was wrong...

Soon after, Xena Sanders and Isla's father, Victor Sullivan, arrived.

Xena Sanders was dressed in beautiful designer clothes. She had long, wavy blonde hair, and purposely used a thick foundation to smooth over the wrinkles on her face. She was nearly 50 years old and was no longer young, but she was already far down the road of “pretending to be young”. She particularly loved to buy luxury goods that had obvious branding. Her intention of showing off her wealth was apparent and she was just shy of branding her forehead with the words: I am rich!
