Family Healing
Jadie woke up in a cold sweat. She had managed to change into a pair of gym shorts and a t-shirt last night in the midst of her breakdown before she ended up asleep in the middle of her floor. The burn from the rejection was only becoming worse as the days progressed, and she didn’t know how much more of it she could take.
The grumbling of her stomach woke her up the rest of the way. She once again didn’t eat dinner, so her body was struggling to hold her weight.
‘You need to eat. We can’t live like this forever.’ Emerald interjected. Jadie rolled her eyes and peeled her sweaty hair off her face, tying it into a loose ponytail.
Her bath yesterday was meant to be relaxing and calm her down, but instead she became lost in thought about the situation she had found herself in. She concluded that she was just meant to be alone, dragging her way through life without anyone there to help her.

Jadie didn’t realize that when Lincoln said they were going on a hike, it meant they would be trudging over twenty miles deep into the woods, far away from any form of civilization. Lincoln helped Jadie slip her sweatshirt over her injured shoulder when they returned to the pack house. He was eerily silent the rest of the trip home, on guard from the slightest noises around them.“Lincoln?” Jadie tried to get his attention, but his mind was elsewhere. The night was long for the both of them. When Jadie thought her torture was finally over, it came back about an hour later with more intensity.
