How to instill fear

>>Hazel

I opened my eyes and felt how heavy my head was. It felt like there was a lot of pressure on it and because of that, it took me a few seconds to realize where I was.

I shook my head and tried to stabilize it even though it felt like my head was going to drop down on the floor due to how weighty it was.

I then tried to move but couldn’t.

What?

My hands were stuck somewhere so I shot my head above and noticed them shackled to the bedframe of the bed I was sitting on.

“You’re awake?” I heard someone say from the side and I turned my head towards him. It was a doctor, or well, he did seem like a doctor with his white doctor's coat, neatly styled black hair that matched his black eyes along with the syringe he was holding in his hand.

Syringe?

My gaze followed to the place where he was removing his hands from.

An IV drip?

It was attached to the back of my hand.

What!? Why?!!

“Of course she’s awake.” Another voice disrupted my thoughts and made me turn my head towards the owner of the voice, “How long did you plan on sleeping my ‘sweet’ little prisoner?” Valek sat on a chair against the wall directly in front of the bed wearing the same suit he was in when he caught me. With one leg over the other, he had his fingers intertwined over his thighs as he looked at me with cold icy eyes while a guard stood by his side in a black suit wearing a blank expression. The guard was tall with shoulder-length ash-brown hair tied neatly in a ponytail. His eyes were brown but didn’t show any emotion.

I stared at Valek for a moment in panic, a small bandage was done around his earlobe that was barely visible, “What did you give me?” I asked because nothing else was coming to mind. Then I looked up at my shackled wrists, “Why did you tie me up?” I knew that I was in trouble the moment I fell in that ditch but I ignored it at that time- No, I was able to ignore it since I hit my head and was able to slip into the world of unconsciousness but now that he was in front of me, I was getting nervous.

He smiled at me, a smile that was filled with anger and rage.

He stood up from his place and turned his head towards the doctor, “You can leave.” He told him.

“I haven’t opened the side clamp yet.” The middle-aged doctor told him.

“I’ll do it,” Valek turned his gaze to me, “I need to have a nice little chat with her before that.”

My eyes went wide as I heard that. The side clamp is blocked? Isn’t that something used to stop the fluid from flowing in?

I slowly turned my head and looked at the IV drip. The fluid wasn’t flowing down.

I gulped. But that’s what scares me more!

What is that? What does he plan on giving me? Is he really going to kill me like he originally said?

“Okay then.” The doctor answered and I looked at him, “I’ll leave it to you.” He then gave me one final glance while I looked at him with eyes full of worry and helplessness. I was practically begging him to stay with how I looked at him but he turned his head away without even trying to say anything.

He simply ignored me and walked out of the room.

My gaze followed him till the end. I was hoping he would look back but he betrayed my expectations. As soon he walked out of the room and closed the door behind him without even considering looking back, my heart dropped. It felt like it fell into the pits of my stomach.

“Well then,” Valek spoke and walked closer. I turned to look at him while he sat down on the bed near my feet, “You asked why I tied you up?” His gaze was fixed on me so I slowly started to move my feet away which were still untreated and were full of scratches and blood. The stick was still stuck there on the side corner of my foot. I had forgotten about it since I wasn’t feeling any pain, probably because I just woke up or something but now that I look at it again the tingling pain started creeping up, “Obviously because you ran away after an agreement.”

“Hah!” I gasped out loud when Valek suddenly grabbed my ankle. His gaze never left me but he still noticed my useless attempt of moving my feet away from him.

“Did you really think I wouldn’t notice?” He asked as he looked into my eyes with a fierce gaze but looking back at them made me scared. I couldn’t answer him and I didn’t want to either. All I could do was gulp and look down.

But, the moment I did, a sharp pain surged throughout my body starting from my injured foot.

“Ah!!!” I let out a pained cry and looked at Valek again. His hand was on the stick stuck in my foot and he had pushed it around on purpose.

“S-stop.” I spoke, “It hurts.” I told him in a pained voice.

“I know.” He replied nonchalantly, indicating that he was doing it on purpose to torture me.

“P-please Valek,” I tried moving my arms again but I couldn’t, they were stuck in place and tightly bound, “I beg of you,” I gasped in pain as I felt so helpless, “Stop. Please.”

“Not so brave now huh?” He replied, “You clearly didn’t think about the consequences when you bit my ear.” He smirked and I looked at him in horror.

I really didn’t think about my actions.

I rarely ever do. That’s why I’m stuck here in the first place.

“I’m sorry,” I whispered.

“Did you say something?” He asked and pushed the stick down against my skin.

“I’m sorry!” I yelled in pain.

He removed his hand immediately and looked at me while I breathed heavily trying to calm myself.

“So,” He started as tears started forming in the corner of my eyes, “Why did you run away like that?’

I didn’t answer him immediately but I knew if I didn’t say anything at all he was going to torture it out of me. So, I looked at him while I fought back my tears, “You practically forced me into something I didn’t want to do.” He listened quietly, “On top of that you want me to stay for years??”

“I don’t see what’s wrong with that?” He folded his arms over his chest, “You seem like you have nowhere to go anyway.”

“I do!!” I replied to him furiously, “I do.” I repeated the words as I glared at him, “So just let me go.”  He looked back at me with a look that seemed like a mixture between confusion and interest, “Please,” I added in, “Let me go.”

He sighed, “It seems you still don’t understand the situation you’re in.” He stood up and my gaze followed him, “You’re in no position to put in demands.” He walked over to the drip and opened the side clamp. The fluid started flowing in immediately, “You need to be taught a proper lesson.”

He looked down at me while I stared at him in confusion and fear. I wanted to ask him what was in that drip but I couldn’t muster up the courage.

I just kept my eyes on him while he walked back towards the chair, “Silva,” He addressed his bodyguard, “Get the men in here.”

His words made my heart drop.

Silva nodded his head and went out.

“Valek…” I called out his name in horror.

He looked at me, “Some people need to be tamed properly.” He looked at me with a blank expression and I shook my head in denial.

Just the next moment a few men entered the room, Silva was not among them.

“Do whatever you want to her,” Valek spoke to them and then walked out of the room.

“No…” My heart started beating like crazy as about six-seven big men turned their heads towards me and smiled nastily. My thoughts began to muddle up and anxiety and fear began to fill in my entire being.

Valek closed the door behind him while the men walked towards me.

“No!!” I yelled and rattled the chain I was tied with, “Please!! No!!”
