Ethan’s lips moved hungrily against hers, his body pressing her firmly against the wall. His warmth surrounded her, drawing her in deeper.

Then suddenly, Lena broke away, shoving him back with surprising force. Ethan stumbled, his eyes wide with confusion.

Lena clutched her head, a sharp cry escaping her lips. The pain was unbearable, like her insides were being torn apart.

“Lena?” Ethan’s voice was alarmed. “What’s wrong?”

She couldn’t answer. The searing agony left her breathless, her vision blurring.

Footsteps sounded outside. Heavy. Purposeful. Drawing closer.

“I’m sorry,” Ethan muttered. “I have to go.”

Without another word, he turned and bolted for the window. In one swift motion, he was gone, vanishing into the night just as the footsteps reached her door.

The door burst open, and Darius stormed in, his gaze locking onto Lena.

She was slumped against the wall, her face pale, one hand still clutching her head. Her breathing was shallow, her fingers trembling.

When the Alpha ordered Beta Cedric to escort the humans to the eastern lands for safety, he hadn’t given much thought to the slaves. But Lena had convinced her maid, Milicent, to join them. Now, with their task complete, it was time to return.Milicent stood near the carriage with the other maids, chatting in low tones. She was painfully aware of the Beta’s gaze burning into her back. Desperate to ignore it, she forced a laugh louder than intended and cringed at her own awkwardness. The Beta didn’t say a word. He just watched her, the way she glanced away shyly whenever their eyes met.He scoffed under his breath, leaning lazily against a pillar.“How’s the Luna treating you?” one of the girls asked.Milicent had expected that. Everyone seemed eager to pry, hungry for gossip about Kara Voss.“Well,” Milicent began with a smile, “I’d say she’s the kindest soul I’ve ever met.”The girls blinked, surprised.“Do you think the Luna isn’t who they say she is?” another maid whispered.Cedric

He carried her in a bridal hold, his gaze lingering on her face as he walked out.Once they were outside, beneath the shade of a tree, Milicent’s eyes fluttered open. "You were right, she's not Kara Voss," Alpha Darius said as he walked into his office, his beta trailing behind."I told you," Cedric replied.Darius sank into his chair, dragging a hand down his face. "But what I don't understand is why she's hiding the truth. What's stopping her? Trade goods or freedom?""Likely."He scoffed. "And she thought this was the best place to find freedom?"Cedric stepped further into the room, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "I don’t think so. Remember? She tried to escape when she first arrived. Doesn't seem like someone seeking freedom."Silence lingered between them. Then, flashes of Lena coughing up blood flickered through Darius’s mind. What Lena encountered as they stepped into the northern wing of the Shadow Fang Pack was far beyond what she had expected. She had underestimated him — greatly. The place was vibrant, almost bustling with life. It mirrored the lively markets of the human world, where merchants called out their wares, eager voices mingled in conversation, and stalls lined the streets, brimming with goods — from richly woven fabrics to fragrant herbs and rare trinkets. The scent of freshly baked bread wafted through the air, blending with the faint aroma of burning incense.Children darted between vendors, their laughter ringing out like a melody, while traders haggled with customers over prices. There was warmth here — a sense of community and normalcy that felt foreign compared to the cold tension that clung to the Shadow Fang Pack’s main grounds. This wasn’t the grim, oppressive environment she had braced herself for. It was thriving, welcoming — a corner of the pack’s territory that felt almost un

"In the ways of the old," the elder began, his voice firm yet distant, "a werewolf wedding was more than just a union of hearts. It was a binding of souls. The ceremony wasn’t merely about vows; it was a pact sealed by blood and magic."He paused, giving the room a moment to grasp the weight of his words."The couple would stand beneath the Blood Moon, surrounded by their pack. The Alpha or an elder would draw a ceremonial blade, cutting both bride and groom's palms. Their blood would mix as they clasped hands, creating a bond stronger than words alone."His gaze darkened."But with such power comes risk. If the bond is forced, if one heart wavers or doubts, the magic can turn unstable. A failed bond weakens the mind and spirit. Some say it drives the pair to madness."Murmurs rippled through the room, but Lena wasn’t done."And what about... the effects?" she pressed. The elder nodded gravely."A true bond, one forged in love and trust, strengthens both wolves. "A Lycan what?" she scoffed, brows drawn. "There are no such beings."“There are truths you have not yet been shown—truths long buried, swept beneath the dust of centuries,” he replied solemnly. “To answer your question: Lycans are real. Some call us beasts, others name us higher wolves, for we are akin to them in form, yet greater in strength and spirit. And you, my dear, are one of us. Do you remember what I told you that night?”She shook her head slowly. “You said a great deal.”“I told you never to reveal what you are to the wolves,” he said, voice low and steady. “They would not hesitate to slay you should they discover the truth. That is why your wolf has remained dormant since the hour of your birth. The mark you bear, which mirrors mine, was not given in vain—it was etched upon you to restrain your transformation. It was meant to shield you, not harm you.”The weight of his words pressed heavily upon her. She took a step back, her gaze shifting to the silver chains that boun

Nightfall in Lena’s ChambersA soft voice stirred her from sleep. Her eyelids flew open. It was powerful—compelling.Dressed in a simple nightdress, she rose, drawn to the voice that called to her very soul.It led her beyond the familiar paths of the pack, deeper into the territory than she had ever ventured. At last, she arrived at an ancient dwelling, its walls weathered by time. She stepped inside."Lena…"The voice whispered again, guiding her down a narrow passage, deeper still—until the air grew heavy, thick with an unfamiliar scent.A scent that struck her like a blow.It was faint yet intoxicating—smelt like frost-laced cedar and crushed wildflowers. She pressed forward, descending into a dungeon. There, amidst the dim torchlight, stood a figure. A golden mask concealed half of his face, but his eyes—piercing, molten gold—bore into her."Beloved." His voice cracked as he inhaled deeply, his entire form shuddering. "How long has she been thus?" You see, Milicent was not merely wronged in body—she was stripped of her dignity, her very spirit wounded. Such a loss cannot be mended with time alone.""Then what must be done to aid her?"Silence fell between them.At length, Dylia spoke again. "Has she kin? A beloved, perchance?""I know not," Lena admitted."In such a case, we must seek one who holds her dear. If she knows there is one who awaits her, one who has not abandoned her, it may give her reason to return to us. Yet, I cannot promise she shall ever be as she was."Lena exhaled softly, nodding. "So be it." Then, after a brief pause, she lowered her voice.
