Not my mate

AMBER

Well, it turns out there couldn't be any great news other than the one of my forged mate and me.

Which had gone off to other packs as they joined in the celebration as well.

My father, as the Alpha of a growing pack, believed it was very important to maintain a cordial relationship with the neighboring packs.

That way, we can get to keep them as allies and take good advantage of them, as my father would always say.

The next thing I knew I was handed over to my newly mated Alpha Reeca.

I suddenly wondered why he had our rooms separated.

I was given a room next to his.

And was somewhat glad about that anyway.

I knew I shouldn't be lurking around the hallway at an uneven hour.

But I was having what I would call a long night without a beauty sleep.

As I thought about taking a stroll to ease myself off the stress of what I was conformed to.

I got into the hallway and I walked majestically like a princess that I wasn't and have never been.

Although at that point, I felt like one.

“And so what?” I heard someone yell from one of the castle rooms.

Low voices waft from the room like they were having a meeting and I wasn't invited.

I crawled my way to the window to have a look as I wondered what was going on in there.

I had spotted some men sitting around a table and it seemed they were having a board meeting.

But at this late hour? I thought to myself.

I caught a glimpse of Reeca who had his hand on the table as he spoke while the others listened.

“Getting mated to his daughter was the only way I could get him to make me his successor, without having anyone to contest” I heard him say.

“Good” I heard the other man say as he had a smirk on.

“And in no time, you would have it all to yourself,” Reece said smiling.

I was suddenly curious about getting to know what it was they were so engrossed in, that couldn’t wait till Sunrise.

“The wolfbane pack has got nothing on us,” One of the men who sat beside the other alpha male said.

I suddenly wondered what it was they had against our pack.

Wasn’t Alpha Reeca meant to be the successor of the wolfbane pack?

I was somewhat confused about why it was he suddenly speaking ill of our pack.

What was it they had planned?

“White moon pack would be so glad to have you as their new successor” The man whom I suspected was the leader of whatever pack they had called said.

I was getting even more confused as they spoke about Successors.

As it suddenly felt as though they were speaking in a language that I couldn’t understand.

I needed to find out what it was they were talking about, so I wasn’t leaving the spot I was eavesdropping from until I had gotten the information I needed.

“And what about the father, Alpha Reagen?” The leader asked.

“That shouldn’t be a problem, I have it settled already,” he said.

From all I have been able to understand, they were planning to take over the wolfbane pack.

From that point, I realized my father had made the biggest mistake of his life handing me over to Alpha Reeca.

And even worse, making him his successor.

Wolfbane pack was In trouble.

But how was I to explain to my father about all I had heard tonight, knowing it was somewhat going to be hard getting him to believe me?

He had his trust built strongly on Alpha Reeca.

And now was on the verge of losing everything.

I had to warn him real quick.

I slowly tip-toed my way out of the hallway like I was never there.

On getting to my room, I had myself curled up in bed.

I knew for sure, my father was never going to believe me.

But still, I was going to give it a try.

I thought of ways to excuse myself from his chambers, without him having to know my reason for suddenly wanting to leave.

“Can I be excused for a day Mate?” I said making the word mate sound so mockingly obvious.

And I was hoping he wouldn’t notice.

Well good thing, he didn’t.

“It’s not like you are of any use here,” he said looking at me with disgusted eyes.

“So yes you may” he added.

I suddenly felt so happy he didn’t ask for a reason, as he never cared anyway.

He had ordered for his guard to have me taken home, making sure I had gotten home safe.

And that happened the only reasonable thing he had done since I got mated with him.

We were to move into the wolfbane pack chambers, days after they had him sworn in as my father’s only successor.

And until then, we were to be in his chambers for the meantime.

I got out of the car, heading to our magnificent building when I realized the elders were here as well.

Perfect timing… I thought to myself.

I got into the board hall hoping I wouldn’t get dismissed by my father.

I summoned up courage as I walked in.

I saw the look my father had on like he really wasn’t expecting to see me back in the pack house.

“What do you want?” He asked in a harsh tone.

I stood there as I fidgeted with the sleeves of my dress, wondering how it was I was to explain to him about his pack being planned to be taken.

I looked around the room to find all the elders staring at me, expecting I would let out what I had in mind to say.

“Wolfbane is being handed off to the wrong hands” I said, trying hard not to stutter.

“What!!!” My father yelled…
