The feeling of someone gently running their hand through my hair begins to stir me out of my deep sleep, my body not having this good of a sleep in so long seems to refuse to wake up and allows me to nuzzle deeper into the heat source I had found myself on slipping back into the slumber.

“You can remain asleep, simply turn your head so I can remove the other braid.” A deep male’s voice whispers in my ear seeming to break through my tired wall, but now another presence had made itself known, my brain insists it’s better if I wake up where my eyes slowly open.

At first, I was still in dreamland, the world around me not seeming to stand out at all as my mind woke up. But I soon find I was still laying on Baron’s chest as he unbraided my second braid, the room seeming to be much darker than what I remembered myself falling to sleep in.

As I went to lift my head up to look at Baron’s face who was also wide awake, I have to stop abruptly with the pain from my shoulder, the pain meds h

In all my years knowing Markus and allowing him to look after me, I had never once felt scared of him, even though his actions to others and the way he would speak around me should have scared me to the core. Deep down, I always knew no matter what he was going to look after me, be the protector I needed. But now as I watched him walk towards me, stood on the outside of the border in chains and individuals who he loathed more than anything on the earth and beyond, I couldn’t shake the fear. What if this goes wrong? What if he doesn’t believe me? Could I handle the one man who saved me all of those years ago switching gears and hating me? All of those questions seemed to swirl around in my head until he came to a stop right inside of the border, his eyes locking with mine as I forced tears not to prick them. “Isn’t this a surprise.” Was all he spoke his eyes locked on mine as though he was trying to read me, where I pleaded that he wouldn’t brush me off and listen. “Sorry the vis

  • Surviving The Big Bad Alpha King   Chapter Seventy-Nine: Markus

The next morning, I woke up more determined than ever, most days since arriving here, I haven’t got any idea of what I’m doing until it’s thrown upon me, but now I knew we were entering into very dangerous territory, one I had lived most of my life, I had to get back to the way I was. Before the palace and Baron, I never let anything or anyone hold me back, I had been through some of the worst pain and circumstances imaginable back before my brain even had the chance to develop. I had to grow up fast and realise nobody had my back, even Markus and eventually, Daniel would say they’d look after me, there was always something in the back of my mind saying I still need to keep my wits about me. My father was someone I trusted more than anyone and he was taken; I needed to prepare myself in case anything like that happens again. But when it came to Baron, it was as though everything I had built up around myself came crashing down without me even noticing. When I’m around him, my entir

My entire body seems to go into that same panicked state as before but this time, it wasn’t my mind that was making up scenarios or forcing memories to play in my mind like an old tape recorder, but a huge black wolf towering above me. I couldn’t stifle the terrified scream that left my lips as I slid across the shiny dark flooring, my hands shaking so violently I kept stumbling and nearly falling fully to lay on the floor as my eyes refused to leave the wolf’s face whose eyes also refused to leave mine. With each centimetre of space I’d manage to create between me and the wolf, the closer his huge legs with the sharpest of claws I had ever seen seemed to draw even closer to me. The quicker my breath became the heavier the air grew, I truly felt as though I began to suffocate causing my mind to go cloudy and the room to grow darker. My elbows seemed to give way as I landed on my back feeling my eyes close, my heart pounding so fast in my chest when the bloodthirsty wolf seemed t

After some time to calm down and Baron repeating to me that I was safe, I sat on his office’s floor with my back against the wall and my legs pulled up to my chest. My head hurt from the power of those flashbacks and how fast they kept pounding my head. My hands still shook a little as my body attempted to calm down after it believed we were walking into some kind of war, and it needed to protect itself. Baron, who hadn’t left my side for a second soon walks back from his desk with a fresh glass of water in his hands, taking a seat beside me pushing my legs down so I was no longer sat in the fetal position, he hands me over the glass where I was forced to squeeze it hard so the shaking of my hands didn’t spill water over my legs. “I’ve had flashbacks like those before but never to that extent, it was as though my mind had switched to being seven years old again.” I sighed placing my head to rest on the wall behind me as Baron’s hand is placed to rest on my leg, his touches seeming

The only sound I could hear was the pulsing of heart ringing in my ears, my breathing was fast and panicked as the man, who had taken everything from me all of those years ago parades into the room as though nothing was a miss and begins to speak with his Alpha. Memories of the terrifying night that changed my entire life began to flash through my mind as quickly and deadly as the lightening bolts from the storm the previous night. With each memory, I sunk deeper into my panicked state and faster my breath became as I gripped the table so hard I worried my fingers would snap. “Erin?” Baron’s worried but muffled voice asks turning my face to look away from the middle of the office than back him, but in my panicked state which only seemed to be getting worse, it was as though my mouth dried up and I couldn’t produce any words to respond. As though my brain wasn’t already having a field day replaying some of my most freighting memories as though it was the next big blockbuster, it

Stuart had left to get the last of the Alpha couple’s and was taking some time, with how long the day had been and the amount of people I had to make conversation with and smile at, I was absolutely, exhausted and couldn’t wait until I could climb into Baron’s ever so comfortable bed and fall asleep. Speaking of Baron, I still hadn’t moved from his lap as my head lay against his chest, even though I knew I couldn’t go to sleep and tried to fight it at every corner, the steady rhythm of his heartbeat and his hand running gently through my hair, I felt my body slipping away into dreamland. “I don’t know about you guys, but I’m exhausted and all I’ve done is sit here.” Lizzie yawned from the side of the room with Glasses, her voice snapping my eyes open slightly before they involuntarily closed once again. “We have one more Alpha couple before we can all get some well-deserved rest, well after we figure out how we can enter that village to get the box.” Glasses joined the conversat
