"Alaina get up before you be late to school" my mom said as she shook my shoulder I rolled my eyes and got up

"I don't know who you rolling your eyes at but you better check yourself lil girl" 

I turned around and looked at her 

"how come you didn't tell me about my dad" I say crossing my arms my mom looked at me like I had three heads 

"ion know who the fuck you think you talking to but you better check yo tone before I bust you in your mouth" 

I uncrossed my arms and turned around and started getting my clothes out for school ignoring her presence 

"I don't gotta explain shit to you" she said walking out and slamming the door I rolled my eyes and got dressed putting on ripped blue jeans that actually made me look like I had a lil butt, a white n black striped shirt and all white Nike air maxes; 

I brushed my hair down to my shoulders and put on some gloss I looked in the mirror and kind a liked what I saw not to be conceited but I look good I smiled and grabbed my bag and walked downstairs to see that my mom had already left. 

I grabbed a banana and a water bottle; and went outside locking the door behind me and sitting on the porch waiting for Cams slow ass. 

I checked the time on my phone 6:52 I let out a breath about to text him when I heard Earned it by Chief Keef blasting I looked up and shook my head and threw my banana peel away and got in and turned down his radio 

"what did I tell you fool" I say as I smack him on the back of his head "shut up brat" he says as he backs out of my driveway 

"whats up with you ma you cool" I nod my head I texted Cam last night and told him about my dad not being dead and my mom trifling behind I rolled my eyes 

"she feels she doesn't need to explain anything to me" Cam looked at me then back at the road 

"that's crazy as fuck yo" "tell me about it" I say as I picked at the lint on my jeans 

"but aye its cool I cant wait to meet yo pops" he said smiling, I raised an eyebrow "really" 

"yeah ma he can be like a step dad to me or some shit" he said looking straight ahead. 

Cams dad was just another dead beat drug dealer and wasn't in his life at all, that made me appreciate having a dad who actually wanted to be in my life but I did feel for the many kids like Cam who didn't have one. 

I smiled at Cam "yeah maybe he can teach you how to dress" I say hoping to lighten the mood Cam sucked his teeth 

"gurl I look good, you need some hair tips tho" he said pulling at my hair as we pulled up to the school 

"shut up that's why you lame" I say getting out "yeah yeah you a fan though, but you look kind a fresh today ma" I pop my imaginary collar 

"I know son,but thanks shawty" he nods his head laughing as he put his arm around my shoulder as we walk into the school. 

"Alaina" I turned around to see Samantha walking towards me smiling 

"wassup chica, hey cam" 

"waddup, but Lainy Imma go say wassup to my niggas Ill hit you up later ma" he said giving me a side hug and walking away I started walking to my locker

"gurrllll, what was that about" Sam said the Hispanic leaving her quick "what was what about" I say closing my locker and leaning my back against it, Sam looked at me and hit my arm 

"you know what he had his arm around you" I shrugged "so, he does that a lot" 

"but you guys were cute" she said squealing I looked at her and was about to say something when I looked out the big window behind her and seen Cam and this girl named Chynna laughing and flirting I nodded my head in their direction 

"well he doesn't think that" she turned around and rolled her eyes "she a hoe anyway" she said making me laugh; I wasn't hurt because Cam and Chynna deserved each other she was light skinned with long curly hair and light green eyes she was a cheerleader and he was a basketball player they were a match made in heaven. 

"Alaina, girl you good" Sam said as she snapped her fingers in my face looking at me with concern 

"yeah, what" I say 

"you kinda zoned out on me" "my bad girl I just got a lot on my mind" she pulled me into a hug outta no where 

"gurl is it about your dad cause I'm here if you want to talk" she said rubbing my shoulders 

"I'm fine gurl" I say not really wanting to talk about it 

"okay but you know you ca--" before she could finish her sentence the bell rung thank God I thought to myself as I started walking to my class waving bye to Sam. 

When I got to class Cam was outside of it talking to Chynna I couldn't help but to roll my eyes at both of them as I walked into the class. 

"Good Morning, miss Jones, glad to see you here on time" I smiled at her but mentally rolled my eyes 

"would you mind passing out these worksheets for me" yes so leave me the fuck alone 

"no ma'am" I say sweetly taking the papers from her hand as the bell rung 

"okay class, come in sit down and start on the worksheet Alaina is passing out". 

As I passed out the worksheets getting a thank you from a hand full of kids, when I got to Cam he had his hand out for the paper but I put it on his desk and finished passing them out then sat in my seat. 

Five minutes later I felt someone tap my shoulder I rolled my eyes and turned around "what do you want" I whispered harshly he put his hands up in surrender 

"I was gon ask for a pencil damn ma whats your problem" I glared at him 

"why don't you ask your girlfriend for a pencil" I say turning around till I felt him tap me again "you need to stop tapping me" amusement was on his face when I turned around making me frown

"what" I say rolling my eyes "nothing ma" he says so I turn around till I hear him mumble "jealous ass" 

I turned back around "what you say" 

he looked up at me grinning "nothing ma" "naw you said some repeat it" I say turning all the way around to hear him clearly 

"I'm just saying you sound a lil jealous ma" I opened my mouth then closed it was I jealous? 

"no one is jealous boy so hush" I say playing with my hair he started laughing making Mrs. Jackson tell him to hush before he got detention that made me smile and stick my tongue out he shook his head 

"you a liar" 

"I didn't lie about anything" 

"every time you lie you start playing with yo hair" I looked down at my hand that was twirling a strand of hair I put my hand down quick and turned around making him laugh again. 

When the bell rung I grabbed my stuff quickly and rushed out the class before Cam could make me look even more foolish, when I got to history I sat in the back already not feeling today my phone vibrated letting me know I had a message it was Cam.

Cammie: wassup witchu ma you rushed out of class like a bat outta hell

Me: I was tired of looking at yo ugly face I had to get outta there 😂

Cammie: you wack asf but I'm fr you cool ma

Me: yeah pa 

Cammie: 😏 I know I'm daddy 

Me:😕 gtfoh

Cammie: chill but if you gotta problem with me chilling wit ole girl just tell me and ill stop

I sighed might as well be truthful

Me: I don't want you to hang with her 

Cammie: alright ma its done but ill hit you up at lunch

I couldn't hide the big ass smile on my face "Mr. Howard may I go use the restroom" 

"yeah go ahead" he said then went back to teaching 

I got up and grabbed the bathroom pass walking out still smiling like I won a million bucks as I walked into the bathroom I could hear girls talking it was Chynna and two other girls they stopped talking looked at me then continued talking I rolled my eyes and used the bathroom; as I went to the sink to wash my hands Chynna got beside me and put on more lipstick 

"your Cams friend ain't it" she asked looking at me through the mirror as the two other girls stared 

I rolled my eyes at her dumb question, she knows me and Cam are best friends

"yeah" I mumble grabbing paper towels and drying my hands 

"I usually wouldn't allow a guy I'm talking to have female friends but since its just you its cool" she said giggling with her friends 

I was a nice person but not a pushover "whats that supposed to mean" I say crossing my arms 

"oh you know" she says looking me up and down "you're just not really his type" she says plainly making the girls laugh

"and what is his type" she let out a breath like I was aggravating her "not dark skins, I mean you're okay looking but we all know whose really running things" gesturing at her body and face "light skins can have any guy we want and Cam is mine and he definitely don't want you boo" 

I looked at her and the other two girls one was actually recording it. 

I shook my head "what ever girl" I say bumping her shoulder as I walk out the bathroom. 

I'm not gonna lie and say that what she said didn't hurt my feelings, cause it did but the me a year ago would have cried my eyes out and believed her; but I didn't so that means that I'm making progress and that alone put a smile back on my face and made me hold my head a little higher as I walked back to class.
