Chapter 3: Love is Blind

Chapter 3: Love is Blind

After that, Gemma was too embarrassed to see Jethro every time. Not only did she feel her self-esteem being crushed, but her heart was also hurt by her husband's heartless words.

Although this marriage was because she forced him, he didn't need to say words that hurt her so much. She was very upset in her heart, but Gemma refused to let go, she was sure that one day Jethro would fall in love and love her.

Such a shame Gemma did not dare to tell her father and also did not dare to tell anyone who could only hug alone.

Time passed like a breeze and waited for no one, in the three years she lived with the man she loved Jethro. Gemma does not receive love or, more simply, tenderness from this man. At first, she was always angry and smashed things just to get Jethro's attention but he was still quiet as if nothing had happened.

The most extreme culmination is that Gemma misunderstood a maid in the house, who because of carelessness fell into the display cabinet pouring glass and crystal that Gemma loved the most. With her passion for crystals, Gemma was furious, but what she was angry about was not the maid who spilled the display cabinet, but Jethro's attitude toward the maid.

Despite doing so many things to get Jethro's attention, Gemma did not receive a single glance from him. Yet while the other maid was tolerated and cared for by Jethro, at that moment Gemma felt that her presence in her own house was too faint to even be compared to a servant.

Seeing her husband being so gentle with another girl when he had never been so gentle with her, Gemma had thought that Jethro was having an affair, having an affair with the maid. Therefore, Gemma used her power and money to make the other girl work hard and suffer excessive torment from Gemma.

It only ended when Jethro found out and the way he solved it was to fire the maid with two crimes, one is to knock over the crystal display cabinet, and the other is to intentionally cause trouble with the other servants. Jethro himself did not expect that Gemma would be so angry because of the crystal cabinet.

And because of that, Jethro increasingly hates Gemma, he thinks she is a cruel and cruel woman who uses all means to achieve her goals, proving that she forced Jethro to marry her even though he refused.

Gemma, not seeing Jethro at home, asks Dina:

“Where is Jethro? “He's not coming home for dinner?”

Dina looked at Gemma and did not dare to go around and quickly replied:

“He left early and didn't say where he was going, so I don't know. “Why didn't you call him directly?”

Although it was just a random word, when Gemma heard it, she immediately assumed that Dina was making fun of her, because even calling her husband did not dare to do it. Since the misunderstanding caused that maid to be fired, all the servants in the house were terrified and wanted to avoid Gemma.

Gemma is sitting in the room looking at the phone with Jethro's contact number, she also gives Jethro a friendly name on the phone ‘ My beloved husband ’, sometimes Gemma also wants to know that Jethro will save his contact name but she does not dare to ask.

Whenever he saw Jethro's cold and indifferent expression, no matter how many words Gemma prepared to say, she could not say it.

Three years together, more than three years together, and they still don't have children and do not share a bedroom. Gemma from an arrogant and energetic girl is now silent and waiting for love from Jethro.

Her father saw that Gemma was not at all concerned about the children, so he was very worried and asked:

“Honey, what's wrong? It's been more than three years and you still haven’t had a baby, is it because you can't get pregnant or Jethro is infertile?"

Gemma had taken a long time to visit him because she did not want him to see her sad face, but when she faced him, she could not help but shed tears. Both of his father's speculations were not, she was not infertile and Jethro was not infertile.

Gemma was crying:

“I… he hasn't touched me in three years… so I can't get pregnant.”

Her father was surprised, married for three years but Jethro didn't touch his wife so maybe he was having an affair behind Gemma's back. Perhaps Gemma had noticed her father's thoughts too, and she shook her head and said:

“He didn't touch me, but he didn't have an affair, and I suspected he had another woman outside so he didn't want to touch me, so I hired a private detective and a paparazzi just to catch him. But for more than a year, he only knew about work and work, and there were no women.”

His father raised an eyebrow.

“If that's the case, Jethro… he's gay, so he doesn't like women that's why?” He said.

Gemma heard that and was startled. "No way. Gemma shouted, she couldn't accept this.

If Jethro was indeed gay, he would have used that as an excuse to reject her marriage proposal in the first place. Or he will have an affair with another man instead of a woman. But all of this is completely unlikely, Jethro is not even close to a single person.

Gemma felt that the marriage was at a dead end and that, precisely, neither she nor he had ever spoken properly nor dined at a certain restaurant in the three years they had been together. Finally, Gemma had to ask her father for help.

“Father… please help me. I don't want my marriage to get any worse.” Gemma pleaded, if she continued like this she would be desperate.

Her father consoled her, he didn't think her marriage would turn out so badly. He always thought that Jethro was a very talented man, so he would know how to treat his daughter well, but he did not expect that his talent would be only for work, and about the family was too bad.

And he couldn't let his precious daughter suffer without doing something.

“Okay, stop crying, I'll make him regret making you sad.” He said:

Gemma stopped him: “Don't do anything excessive, I don't want him to hate me anymore.”

After returning home Gemma felt very reassured by having her father comfort her.

But...

During dinner, Jethro, who was usually quiet, was now the one to take the initiative to talk to her, but his tone was still very cold and indifferent.

“Gemma, what did you say to your father?” Jethro looked at Gemma as if he wanted to kill her immediately.

Gemma felt something was wrong, but she did not allow herself to look worried in front of Jethro.

“I'm just saying something to my father, what's bothering you so much?” Gemma asked.

Jethro clenched his fist like he was holding back his rage.

“If you didn't say stupid things, why did your father want to buy my company? Gemma, you have to be clear this time.”

Gemma was bewildered. "What? I know absolutely nothing about this. I didn't ask my father to do that either. Are you sure, don't slander my father and me!”

Jethro laughed contemptuously at Gemma, who had never shown any respect for this wicked woman of heart, not only from being forced into marriage but from living together for some time, realizing that this woman was cruel and did everything for her own sake, a selfish person.

Jethro was tired of being threatened by Gemma's father with his company and using his power to suppress him in the marketplace. It is not easy to have a position in the market today, just because of some of Gemma's sayings that Jethro is in danger of losing his career. He won't let things go according to this cruel woman.

Jethro looked at Gemma with such disgust that Gemma didn't know what to say. She had only come to talk about the past years of her unhappy marriage because she was so helpless in the present situation that she asked her father to remind Jethro of a few words so that he could pay more attention to her. Gemma had no intention of threatening him.

Jethro felt disgusted talking and sharing a table with Gemma, he got up to leave. Before leaving, don't forget to leave a sentence.

“Don't think that your father can block the sky, whenever I can trample him to hell,” Jethro said violently.

Gemma pursed her lips to hold back the tears that were about to fall, she felt her heart as if it was being squeezed by him, extremely painful. Jethro saw that Gemma was not as rebellious as before and assumed that she had tacitly admitted what she had done.

In the days next, Gemma and Jethro were still apart, he was not at home and often used the excuse of work, work, and meeting partners to not stay at home. Gemma of course knew Jethro was doing this because he hated her so much that he didn't want to see her.

Thinking that the marriage would soon end because of Jethro's cold, poetic but that night, the night marked their new beginning and that same night Gemma realized the price to pay for forcing Jethro to marry and she completely regretted her impulsive decision.

Gemma looked at her watch, it was past eleven o'clock at night but Jethro still hasn't returned. Gemma hadn't seen him in three days, two days ago she hadn't been waiting for him to return, but today is a special day. Today is her birthday, and like every year, despite not liking it, Jethro is still at home and reluctantly congratulates her on her birthday.

Today, she wants to use her birthday to clear up all the misunderstandings that made Jethro unhappy before and they can have a happy married life like all other couples.

Dina saw Gemma still sitting in front of the cake, the candles on it were burned out but she was still waiting. Dina went on to remind me:

“Madam, let's go to bed, it's too late now.”

Gemma suppressed the sadness and pain in her heart and shook her head. She called her husband several times, but he did not pick up the phone once. At this point, Gemma felt as if she had been abandoned by Jethro.

“I want to wait for him to come back and eat cake with me,” Gemma said, her smile hiding the loss and pain in her heart.

12 o'clock, 1 a.m., and 2 a.m.…

Jethro hadn't come home yet, and Gemma was crying with red eyes.

While she was about to let go of everything, the sound of opening the door and the sound of footsteps came. Gemma hurriedly wiped her tears and ran out, her husband finally came back a little late but she waited.

Jethro walked unsteadily, looking at Gemma approaching him with indifferent eyes, leaning against the wall, and looking at Gemma without saying a word.

Gemma smelled strong alcohol from Jethro, Jethro had never been this drunk and he was not originally a drinker.

Gemma hurried him up to his room.

“What's the matter? Why do you drink so much?” Gemma asked concerned.

Jethro did not answer, his heavy breath shone in her ear. Jethro's body was strong and tall so that when he leaned against Gemma, her legs trembled with unsteadiness.

After helping Jethro into the bed, Gemma hurried to get a towel to help him wipe his body, but when she took off her first button, he grabbed her wrist, causing Gemma to frown with pain.

What are you doing? Jethro looked at Gemma uneasily, his vision blurred, and the room turned off its lights so that he could not see the enemy.

“Hey, it's me. You're too drunk, so I just want to help you clean up.” Gemma was in such close contact with her husband for the first time, so she was embarrassed to answer.

"Help, help me?" Jethro repeated Gemma's words and gave a contemptuous smile.

He gripped Gemma's wrist so tightly that she couldn't pull it out. Suddenly Jethro tugged Gemma onto the bed, causing her to panic.

"What are you-" Gemma spoke loudly.

Jethro changed positions, he lay on top of Gemma, causing Gemma to panic. The strong smell of alcohol from Jethro made Gemma feel something was wrong.

“You're drunk, so calm down first.” Gemma pushed him away, but like a kitten, her strength couldn't make him back off.

Jethro threw out Gemma's hand, and he laughed rudely.

“Don't you want to have children? That's fine, I'll make you pregnant today." Jethro said hysterically.

The words left Gemma in panic, it was true that she wanted to have a child with him, but not by force. She doesn't want to be like this… Gemma felt very scared now, she panicked and struggled to get away from this man.
