Chapter 3: Love blossomed

The sounds of birdsong, wolves howling, and running water combine to form a song to begin a new day. The sun gradually emerged from behind the trees.

When Anne noticed the boy across from her walking to the cave entrance, she quickly awoke and followed. He looked at Anne like a tail trailing behind him, didn't say anything, but turned his head to continue, the destination being the riverbank where they washed fish the day before. Anne noticed him taking off his shirt and began to sit on one side, passing the wound from the back in the night. She also went to a distant location, picking up some face wash.

 …

Anne's stomach growled early in the morning. She rubbed her stomach, and her face was pitiful as she looked at the boy in the distance who was still looking at the wound. "Can you get me out of this forest?" Anne approached. "I'd like to track down my parents."

The boy could hear her stomach rumbling from a distance. Anne's face was flushed, and she was embarrassed. Anne wouldn't dare to go near the animals in this forest without him. Anne is unsure why, but the wild beasts didn't bother them in the cave they were in yesterday. She appeared to be content.

When the boy heard that, he frowned, thought for a moment, then stood up and walked away. Anne stood speechless, unsure what to do. He took a few steps and still didn't hear the footsteps, then turned to look. Anne knew he was waiting for her, so she dashed after him.

"What are our plans?"

Answer Anne has his back. Anne happily chatted with the boy who might lead her out of this dangerous forest. The boy walked in front, but his ears were still tuned in to what the people next to him were saying, and when he said something funny, he still laughed. It was the first time he had seen a little girl lost in the jungle who was still smiling. The boy didn't notice that the corner of his mouth followed the laughter next to him, but his earnest face became much more harmonious as he relaxed.

After a few moments, the boy halted in front of a large tree. Anne came to a halt behind him, watching him with interest. At this point, the boy jumped up the tree like a monkey. Anne recognized the tree as a fruit tree. Anne stands below and directs the boy to pick the ripe red fruit hanging from the branch:

"Ah, the other side. There's a large fruit over there!"

The boy complied and climbed to Anne's side to pick the fruit. Many fresh fruits were on his coat when he climbed down. "You can climb trees and pick fruit, so good!" Anne exclaimed, flattered.

The boy smiled, picked the most delicious one, and handed it to Anne. She smiled and took it with wide eyes.

"How wonderful!" Anne was not sure what it was, but it was delicious. The boy also noticed this, picked one, and happily ate it. Anne has delicious food but has forgotten to locate her parents. She grabbed his hand again and ran to the nearby trees, wanting him to pick. The boy would assist Anne in determining which fruit could be eaten; if not, he would shake his head. Finally, the two people collected a large amount of delicious fruit, wrapped it in a cloak, and returned it to the cave.

Anne rearranged the fruit she had picked in a corner, and when she turned around, he was gone. After a long time, the man reappeared, holding a wild chicken in his hand.

Anne dashed over to take a look. He had plucked and cleaned the wild chicken in his hand. He handed it to Anna, but she waved it away, saying, "Anne doesn't know how to cook chicken."

The boy didn't seem to get it, still clutching the chicken he wanted to give Anne. So, grilling chicken is the same as grilling fish.

The two went into the cave. Anne told him to start a fire, and she tied the chicken to a tree branch to bake. This chicken is quite large, making it much more challenging to complete than the previous one. Anne struggled for a long time, unable to steady herself and to look at the boy with pleading eyes. He went to help Anne tie up the chicken after finishing the fire. Anne did the same thing yesterday: roasting the fish and turning the chicken over on the flames.

Anne was bored as she looked for a tree branch with writing on it on the ground. The girl drew a few lines, then removed the boy to sit next to her, pointed to the words she had just written, and said, "My name is Anne . It's great to meet you finally."

The boy approached her, his eyes wide with amusement. "Now write your name," Anne instructed as she handed the boy a twig.

The boy froze for a moment before shaking his head. "You don't want to tell me just a name?" exclaimed Anne.

"You don't have a name?" Anne thought. Nevertheless, he nodded once more.

Disgraceful! Anne paused for a moment, then exclaimed, "How about calling you, David?" I taught you how to write because your name is so good."

When the boy noticed Anne's small hands scribbling a few lines on the ground, a string of crooked letters appeared. "This is Anne, my name," Anne said, pointing out each word. "This is your name, D-a-v-i-d.."

The boy happily observed Anne and David standing beside each other, holding a branch and learning how Anne wrote letters. They happily wrote letters until they noticed the smell of burning in the air and remembered their lunch. The grilled chicken is on fire!

The boy continued to brick the ground, unconcerned about the burnt chicken. Anne only had to set aside the chicken, wait for it to cool, then tear it up and eat it for a while.

Every morning, David gets up early to go hunting for wild animals, which can take the form of a fish in a stream, a fantastic chicken, or fresh fruit to bring back to the cave. Anne was responsible for grilling the meat and teaching the boy how to write the words she knew. Sometimes Anne thought they were playing a family game, so when David returned from hunting, she would joke, "Ah, my husband is back!" David didn't know what the word "husband" meant at first, but after Anne explained it to him, his whole face lit up, and every time Anne called him that, David responded with a big smile. Time passes so quickly!
