CHAPTER 25

They say the greatest power is often simple patience. I wish I could empathize with that, because right now, I have none.

I want nothing more than to get out of this place, to these eyes that’s staring me down so much, I could feel myself being buried on the ground from their heavy gazes — a sentiment I currently share. If the floor opens up for me, I’ll gladly jump in.

“R-really?” Jane murmured, genuinely confused at my sudden proposal. She was the first to break the silence, and this was the first I’ll be thankful to her for. I flash a constricted smile which must have looked like something you’ll see from someone having troubles in the toilet.

“Yes, I . . .” I glance up at Andy and Logan as I figure out a reason plausible enough that they wouldn’t think I’m planning something sabotaging. The two were fortunately too shocked at me to even continue over with their fight.

Now, it’s only me who’s in deep shit, I guess.
