Chapter two

Catherine's POV

The way I was kicked out of the company was one thing I never expected. I couldn't set my eyes on Alpha…it would have been better if he was the one that kicked me out, at least I'll be sure that I'm not welcomed into his life—never again.

I left back home with the same cab that I boarded while coming. My kids who knew what was going on were just busy, running around the corner while we walked into the compound. As we almost reached the veranda, I noticed something going on in the building. I'm very sure Dr John is at work, but it looked like someone was wrecking around the compound.

All of a sudden, two giant men walked out of the sitting room. They stared at each other and then shook their heads.

“Who knows if they're after me? Did Alpha send them to get rid of me or capture me?'' I thought, my hands gripped my kids and I drew them to the garage. There we squatted, and they looked at me so surprised, I smiled at them and patted their backs while peeping at the two men who were now standing outside.

They noticed their lips move, and then they took different directions while still searching.

My heart was pounding, all I hoped for was that they wouldn't see me or the kids. My kids were murmuring to each other in a play, I had to signal them to stay mute and they obeyed me. I was still cautious, watching as the one with curly hair walked closer to the garage—my heart sank deep into my belly.

A scorching heat enveloped me. I bent my head, ready to hear a masculine voice order me up, or rather draw me by my hands…but after a few seconds, I felt or heard nothing. I lifted my face to see their car drive off from the compound, and then I relaxed my back on the car, restoring my breath.

“Mummy!” my little girl tapped me. I turned to her and smiled, then helped them up. We headed into the building and I rushed into the bedroom with them. Fear gripped me, the only thing in my head was to leave before Dr John returned from work or that would be the end, he wouldn't let me leave.

A few months after I packed in to stay with Dr John, I began noticing the movements of strange faces loitering around the compound…although it happens once in a while, I never for once told Dr John, nor did I make myself visible for them to see, because I found them suspicious.

Now I must leave, I've seen enough, not when the so-called Alpha secretary told me how Alpha will torture me mercilessly if he ever sets his eyes on me. “How do I even believe her? What if she's the one sending these people to get me?” I shook my head and gulped, then pulled into the little bag I already packed our clothes into. “Will it be Alpha? We are already divorced, so I don't think he will be after my life…" I thought and exhaled a hot breath.

Thanks to the moon goddess, I have already saved a lot that can rent an apartment for me, and then start up a little business for me. I have nothing to worry about now.

I held my kids and we left the room together. My cell phone began ringing all of a sudden and I wished that it wasn't Dr John. “I just hope they didn't visit him there because of me,'' I mumbled and picked up the call. That moment, the door was banged open and a young man stepped in—then the phone call ended.

“Finally, I fell for their trick…they caught me just at the point of escape.” I stepped back while still holding my kids. He walked forward as well, coming closer to me.

“Catherine…” he mentioned my name.

I was baffled. How come he knows my name when I've not seen him for the first time? The fact that I've been indoors since I married Alpha Michael, and no one knows me in this pack should be a reason I should feel haunted that a random stranger could mention my name like someone he has spent time with before.

“I will not harm you,” he said again, this time he stood immobile, his palms dipped into his pocket as he stared at me.

“Who are you? How do you know me?'' I managed to speak. One thing I won't believe is that he won't harm me, that statement is a difficult one to believe.

He pulled his tiny lips into a smile, his looks are familiar, but I don't want to think of who he is.

“My name is Peter Jackson,” he uttered and I swallowed hard. I wasn't mistaken, his looks were like that of Alpha Michael but I just wanted to be sure that it was his blood. “I'm his half brother, that's why I am here,” he added.

I glanced at my kids who in turn looked back at me, then I shook my head. “I never knew my ex–husband has a brother, and he never told me. So what do I owe you?”

“He won't tell you because you're useless to him—if you aren't, he wouldn't have divorced you and taken in another female,” he stated. I was in pain but I controlled my emotions. I can't just tell why I have that trust that Alpha Michael isn't a cheat, maybe because the housekeepers serving me then always comment that he hates women…that makes me hurt when anyone says that he bought in another woman.

I sighed deeply. “So, what do you want from me? He already divorced me and I moved on.”

“And the kids belong to him, but he won't let either you or the kids leave once he finds you…you see those bounty hunters that left here? He sent them to get rid of you—” he explained but I found it difficult to believe him. Alpha Michael can't be ruthless to that extent, if he wants me dead, he would have done that instead of divorcing me. “Be my woman and I'll take care of you and the kids…” he remarked, causing my hands to fall off from my kids.

Silence fell between us for a while, but I had to break it up. “I'm very sorry, I can't be yours. Alpha Michael will soon come back to his senses and welcome me back.” I said to him, but he burst into laughter, making me wonder what was funny about what I said.

“It's not a request. I'll make you and the kids mine whether you like it or not.” he declared, his face grimacing.
