Shock was visible on my mother and Mirna's face as Mirna helped mom get up from the floor. Yes, she was thrown to the floor with the force that I exerted when I pushed her away from Hazel. And to my surprise as well, I didn't feel even an ounce of guilt for what I did. I was more concerned about Hazel and our baby's well-being.

"Damn it, baby. Are you okay? How are you feeling?" I asked frantically as I helped her up.

My jaw clenched seeing her winch from pain as she tried to push herself up with my help. It made me want to hurt someone.

"I'm... good," she replied though it was obvious that she wasn't.

"Don't lie to me, Hazel," I said in a hard tone. "It's obvious that you are not. I'll bring you to the hospital."

"What? No, I'm fine—"

"I insist." I cut her off. "I'll bring you to the hospital, now."

Not waiting for her response, I lifted and carried her out without minding mom and Mirna who were still in utter shock with what just happened. My mind was
