CHAPTER 4- THE PROTOTYPE.

I hurriedly served the customers that were waiting and rush outside to settle this once and for all.

“ You look all skinny, how have you been?” She ask the moment I was outside

“ Am fine and by fine I mean am better, why are you here?”

“  To take you home off course”

“ I see…. You are not making much money right now, I guess there is no one to be your sex slave any longer, ohoo I almost forgot, Kayla is there, she should go make you some money” I knew that would make her angry but I was ready for her next action, she raised her hand to slap me, but I held it before it could land on my face.

“ I see you have grown wings!”

“ Sleeping on the street has made me tough, go back to your paradise let me live in my simple world”

“ I know you would refuse to come with me, that why I brought some Friends, let see how tough you can be right now” She glowered as two men walk towards us.

They walk towards me and grab both my arms in an abusive way, I grimaced in pain as I struggle to get away from their grip.

“ Throw her inside the truck of the car, that where she belongs” Mrs. Clara exclaim.

“ Let her go!” A voice spoke from a distance, the voice was familiar but I couldn’t place it to a face, the men both stopped, I was facing the gentle man right now, as he walked towards me, His spotless fresh face was glowing, those blue almond- shaped eyes were so piercing and mesmerizing. His pink lips pouted out even with the frown on his face, he was still very handsome. He wore a grey Italian suit revealing his broad shoulder and muscular figure.

“ Gentle man I advise you mind your business and walk away” Mrs. Clara spoke.

“ I am minding my business, Elena is my business so you see, I can’t  walk away”

“ Elena you know him?”

“ Off course! He is my boyfriend!” I could tell Austin was also surprise the moment I said those words.

“ Let her go, or we can make it messy, my men are over there just waiting for my order” Austin spoke pointing at the direction where his car was parked, there were two men standing beside the car, and that look that appeared on Mrs. Clara’s face was enough satisfaction for me.

“ Elena baby, just come home with us, we have missed you”

“ Stop the act you know I will never go back there”

“ It not over, whether you accept or not, you will come back home and trust me next time I will be fully prepared for your boyfriend” She was about walking away but despite how much I didn’t want to ask the question, I was curious.

“ How is my father doing?!” I popped the question, she was surprised as she faked a smile.

“ You are worried about a man who has never asked of you even for once, you are so pathetic!!” She exclaimed, walked into her car and drove away.

“ Thank you so much sir! This is the second time you have saved my life, am so grateful”

“ Off course, that why am your boyfriend” Hearing him say those words, I immediately gave a slight chuckle.

“ Sorry sir, but that was the only thought I had at that time”

“ It alright, I was on my way home when I saw you, you left the other day without informing me”

“ Am sorry sir but you asked me to leave so I taught I shouldn’t disturb you”

“ So you ran away from home?”

“ More like I ran away from my evil step mom” There was a quick smile on his face which immediately faded away.

“ What time does your shift ends?!”

“ Two hours from now, why do you ask?”

“ Never mind. I have a meeting to catch up, see you later!” 

As he walks away, I couldn’t help but kept staring at him, he looks so calm but authoritative.

AUSTIN’S POV…………

I was on my way to see the IT expert along side with Ray when I sited Elena and a woman speaking across the road, despite how have been trying to convince myself that I don’t need that girl, who came into my life and worked  magic, I was secretly searching for her. Seeing her standing right before my eyes, I wouldn’t let her go this time around.

Raymond and I arrived at the apartment of Mrs. Chloe, her apartment was on the third floor of a six storey  building. We stopped right before the wooden door painted  grey, Raymond knocked at the door twice, a light skin woman I her forties, blond hair with blue eyes, an average height and pretty with her age opens the door.

“ Mrs. Chloe we would like to speak to you” Ray spoke the moment she opened the door.

“ If you are from a technology company then No, am not speaking to you” trying to shut the door, I held it, pushed it open and walked in.

“ If you don’t leave this minute, I swear I will call the cops you are trespassing” Even as she spoke, I could see panic in her eyes, she was definitely scared of something.

“ What the hell happened at KODAC TECH that frightens you this much?”

“ It none of your business, please leave!!”

“ My company is at it third stage of creating a prototype capable of reading minds…….” She scoffed instantly interrupting me.

“ The CEO's of technology companies likes to see their self as God, always trying to create something that isn’t meant to be created, you know the funniest part, it always goes wrong and then you become desperate trying to find a solution where there isn’t and at the end, a monster is created through technology. Technology was specifically to make life easier and enjoyable for humans and not trying to be God!!”

“ Is that your thought?....”

“ Tell me Mr. What do you think will happen to these world if a particular people can read the minds of everyone, don’t you think this world will become tyranny. When you are not able to act without the ruling party knowing your next move, sometimes I wonder if you guys think things through before you start creating a destructive prototype”

“ So that the reason you left, Mr. Johnson is creating a complicated tech?”

“ Mr. You are getting no word from me, now leave before I call the cops” .

ELENA'S POV………..

I just finished my shift and was about leaving when a car parked right in front of me, he was dressed the same way he was these morning, nothing had changed except for the stress boldly written on his face. But I was also surprise to see him and I do consider it a good surprise.

“ Sir! What are you doing here?”  I ask the moment he stepped out of the car.

“ I came to pick you up off course. Get into the car, I still need to get back to the office”

“ Wait! I don’t understand, are you taking me to your house?”

“ Where else would I take you to, to a hotel or would you prefer to sleep on the street until your step mom comes back with her thugs”

“ No…..off course no……. I just didn’t expect you to help a stranger this much.”

“ Get into the car, like I said, I still got work at the office.”

“ Okay. Sure.” I walk slowly to the passenger seat not adverting my gaze from him trying to figure out if I could see even just a fling of reason he would helped me.

The moment I was sited inside the car, he hopped in and drove off.
