CHAPTER 1

The entire home was illuminated by bright lights, which gave the impression that it was grand from the outside. Observing Natalya Cadwell's home, Adrienne couldn't help but wonder why her boss wanted to trick the woman into believing he was not available for a relationship or even marriage.

“It’s fantastic!” She exclaimed and he just nodded his head in agreement.

“Her family is wealthy,” he explained.

Although the house was built in a modern style, wooden accents could be observed here and there throughout the inside. The tall, half-rounded windows in Natalya's house contributed to the overall design of the house. "She's extremely well-off," she revealed.

"Her family is wealthier than mine," he said, feeling empathy for the woman, who he assumed had not seen many gorgeous homes in her life.

Adrienne pouted her lips and responded, “I see.”

“Would you like to live in a house like this?”

“Of course, sir!” She responded without hesitation. Her apartment, which she shared with Eury, required renovations, and her earnings would not be sufficient to cover the entire bill. She didn't have enough money to cover the cost of the roofing alone, and she didn't have that kind of money yet. In fact, she envied the likes of Pedro Lassiter! If only her father didn’t abandon her, then maybe, there would be a chance for her to enjoy life.

Pedro admired the woman's candour for once in his life. Then he reminded her once more, "I hope you won't forget what you're supposed to do later."

"I already agreed to it, sir,” she answered but the way looked at her made her uncomfortable.  Her heartbeat was so loud, she had to shake her head to clear her mind. Adrienne wasn't taken aback when they were greeted by a butler. Wealthy folks could afford a great deal of assistance at a reasonable cost. “She must be pretty,” she murmured in a barely audible voice.

"She's beautiful, intelligent, and wealthy."

Adrienne was deafeningly silent over Pedro's description of Natalya Cadwell. "Does she have any ebbs and flows to her appearance or her character?"

"She's perfect," he responded.

"Then why in the world aren't you interested in getting involved with her?"

Pedro locked his gaze on the red-haired woman, and for the first time, he took his time to examine her features, and he was completely intrigued by her. "Let's just say that I'm not quite ready to commit at this time," he replied.

"How about a mistress?"

"Are you proposing that I should make you my mistress?"

Adrienne nodded her head.

Then he burst out laughing at the absurdity of the situation. "I've already mentioned that I don't want any second-hand items," he continued.

"Ah, Pedro Lassiter, the all-powerful Pedro Lassiter. However, as I previously stated, I am quite particular about who I choose to share my bed with. You know, I despise being disappointed, and I will be quite unhappy if I discover that he is not a good lover.”

Pedro coughed to get rid of the lumps that had formed in his throat. Every time she spoke about the bed, his mind immediately went to Adrienne underneath him, and he had to shake his head to get the image out of it. When he caught a whiff of Natalya's favourite perfume, he warned her, "She's coming, so please be respectful."

Her brows knitted together in bemusement but Pedro just shrugged off his shoulders as she looked at him in the eyes. It was only seconds later that a woman in a flowing black dress burst through the large panelled entrance and into the room. Adrienne was transfixed by the beauty in front of her.

When Natalya strutted her legs towards them, Adrienne couldn't help but wonder where the woman had gotten the strength to go braless. Her spaghetti-strapped dress had high slits on the sides, which meant that every time she made a step, a large piece of her flesh was revealed on the outside.

The fact that Pedro's lips were carelessly sucked and bitten in front of Adrienne surprised her. She had anticipated Natalya to merely kiss him on the cheek, and her eyes widen in surprise as Pedro's lips were casually sucked and bitten. After a while, it became too much for her to bear, and she turned away from the situation. Pedro, on the other hand, yelled her name, and she had no choice but to react to him in kind.

Adrienne was a little taken aback by the way Natalya gazed at her from head to toe, but she didn't let it get the better of her. When Pedro reached out to take her hand, she smiled at the other woman.

"Can you tell me who she is?" Natalya was the one who inquired.

"This is my girlfriend, Natalya. I'm delighted to introduce her to you; do you think she'll make a good wife?"

Adrienne observed Natalya taking a step backwards. Despite the fact that she was hurting on the inside, Pedro wouldn't stop torturing the other woman, who was clearly head over heels in love with him. What a hulking behemoth! She had an overwhelming need to soothe the other woman, but she was also dealing with a personal crisis of her own. At the very least, she could have cautioned Pedro to stop because it was both callous and unmanly!

"You must be wonderful for Pedro to consider marrying you in the future,” Natalya said.

"I don't think so," Adrienne responded hesitantly, remembering that Pedro had advised her not to express herself in front of Natalya Cadwell. She realized what was going on. The other woman most likely has the ability to read another's mind, or she would make every effort to learn about her innermost thoughts and secrets.

"Can you tell me your name again?"

“Adrienne Mcbride.”

"It's been a pleasure getting to know you, Adrienne. So, what makes you busy?"

It's the most horrible thing she could have imagined hearing, but Pedro had already given her advice on how to respond to the questions. "I work for Mr Lassiter,” she confessed and then the woman burst into laughter.

“You had an affair with your staff?” Natalya asked Pedro.
