Luca

The noise outside barely registered at first. It wasn’t loud enough to drag my attention and I thought it was just another fight between the men, or maybe training that had gotten too rough.

I pinched the bridge of my nose, exhaustion pressing against my skull. My mind was restless and my body was aching. The cold water I splashed on my face in the shower hadn’t cleared the storm inside me.

I had been cold to Lana. Fucking cruel, even.

And damn it..I regretted it.

I didn’t know how to face her after she mentioned my mother. That wound wasn’t one I could let anyone touch, not even her. So I pushed her away. As much as I wanted her close, I needed a little space.

And now all I could think about was the look on her face before she turned away.

I sat on the edge of my bed, hoping for thirty minutes of silence. Just thirty minutes to rest my head will do the trick to get this ache far away from me but someone knocked on my door.

I ground my teeth. “Thirty fucking minutes,”

Lana “As long as you’re willing, you’ll be fine,” Luca said in a rough tone as he tightened his grip on my hand. “Did you see what you did to Tina? That was without training. The crystal had a hand in it, sure, but that strength was still yours. You’re stronger than you realize and I know it.” The certainty in his eyes made my heart skip. Why did he look at me like I was something worth believing in? Worth fighting for? I didn’t feel like I could be anything but the way he spoke… it made me want to be useful and not for myself, but for him and for the pack. “Okay…” My voice trembled. “I’ll train.” His smile was small but it made me melt and my thoughts went to dangerous places. All I could picture was him pinning me to the wall and tearing me apart with his mouth on me. It was disturbing how much I wanted him, even after everything. His expression changed and it was almost like he could hear my thoughts and that made my cheeks flush. “You should rest,” he said finally, as he l

Luca “I’m going to check on Lana,” Arya offered, but I stopped her instantly. “Don’t take another step. I’ll handle her myself.” I left them downstairs and headed back up. The shower was still running, and I paced the room, waiting for her to come out. Ten minutes passed, then twenty, and my patience ran out. I knew women could take their time bathing, but not when they were shaken like she was. “Lana?” I called but I got no answer. When she didn’t respond, I felt uneasy. Privacy be damned, I pushed the bathroom door open and froze. She was sitting on the floor with her arms around her knees. Her eyes were closed as if she wasn’t even here anymore. “What the hell, Lana?” I muttered as I knelt beside her. I cupped her face, patting gently, hoping to get a response. “Wake up. Come back to me.” I patted her cheeks again and this time she woke up with a gasp. “Luca!” Her wide eyes locked on mine. “What… what are you doing here?” I arched a brow. “You blacked out. How long were

Lana “Why did you lie to me, Tina? And for what reason?” My voice broke as the question came out of my lips. Tina laughed at my question and when she finally stopped laughing, she tilted her head and looked at me mockingly. “You are so slow and stupid, Lana,” she sneered, circling me like a predator. “Did you really think I cared about how Luca saw you? That I wanted to help you? Please.” “Yes, I was stupid. I can’t believe I fell for your trick. What was I even thinking?” My voice rose, fueled by anger. This time I was no longer afraid of her. “Why did you lie to me?” “What do you think?” she spat, folding her arms with a smirk. “Luca has always been mine. And you… You actually thought you could take him away from me? Pathetic. I don’t like you, Lana. I never will.” “I don’t care if you like me or not,” I said with confidence because I really didn’t care anymore. “What I should’ve done was tell Luca the truth about you from the very start. I’m so damn stupid.” Her expression

Lana Morning came and since Luca basically sent me out of his room, it was hard for me to sleep. My night was filled with lots of tossing and turning so I figured, what better way to clear my head than running around the mansion. Of course, my luck never failed me. Tina decided to run too. “How did it go with Luca?” she asked with a smirk. “Judging from your boring face, I’d say he wasn’t too thrilled to hear your excuses.” “Leave me alone, Tina.” I snapped, running in another direction. Hoping that she'd get tired and stop. But she kept following me. “Don’t ignore me, you little shit.” She spat before catching up with me, pushing me so hard, I stumbled and hit the ground, gravel biting into my palms. She laughed before jogging away. Her ponytail, swinging behind her. I felt anger burned in my chest. I hated this. Hated how easily she treated me like garbage. Like I'm some stray cat wandering too close to her space. And she got away with it every single time. And that boiled

Lana Arya’s fork dropped on the table and so did the utensils of the others who were at the dining table. The silence that came after my wish made my heart pound harder. The chef who was setting down another tray paused and looked at me with worry. Was what I said really that bad or did they all just hear it wrong? Luca slowly lifted his cup of wine and took a drink while avoiding my eyes but I spoke regardless. “I know you don’t want to hold one for your mother because of what the pack thinks about her, but..” The sound of Luca’s glass that he slammed against the table cut me off and he looked at me with coldness. “What does the pack think about her?” He asked. “That she was never a good Luna to the pack….” I said but couldn’t bring myself to finish my statement due to the suffocating silence. Alaric looked at me as he rubbed the back of his head awkwardly and Arya shook her head slowly, telling me to stop without actually saying the words. “How could you say that about hi
