Lana

“I need a fucking distraction. This can’t be happening,” I muttered to myself as I pushed away from the vanity where I’d been overthinking. I hadn’t slept since yesterday’s boardroom drama about werewolves and getting bonded.

Tonight was Lisa’s gala… a gathering of elites I never wanted to be part of. But I needed the distraction, even if it meant pretending to be the well-behaved Vale heiress under the same roof as my father and his vulture of a wife.

I still hadn’t signed the papers yet, and the thought of it was rotting me from the inside. And somehow, Luca still found a way to crawl into my mind even after I tried so hard to push him out. I hated that, despite everything, my heart still stuttered when I heard his name.

I arrived late which was unlike me. The flashing paparazzi triggered my headache, but I smiled like I wasn’t slowly losing myself. Was this because of the bond? No, don’t let that get to you, Lana. I brushed the thought as I played the perfect Vale daughter. I tried hard to pretend but the ache wouldn’t go away.

“Are you alright?” A deep, masculine voice asked as I turned to see a tall, golden-haired man with a sharp jawline and dark eyes.

“I…I’m fine” I lied with a smile on my face.

“I’m Adrian Stones. Lisa’s older brother.” He handed me a glass of champagne as his fingers gently brushed mine. “I couldn’t help but notice you from across the room. I had to see if you were real.”

He kissed my hand softly and held my gaze. For a moment, I let myself smile. He was a perfect distraction and just maybe I could forget everything for just one night. But the pain in my head increased and pulled harder than before.

“Agh!” I gasped. The champagne glass slipped from my fingers and everything else became blurry. I could hear voices echoing around me.

“Is she okay?”

“Lana you good?”

My knees gave up before I could get myself and fortunately, someone caught me but I didn’t see who it was before blacking out.

My chest rose and fell fast as I woke up from what felt like a nightmare. What happened? And where was I? This was not the gala and definitely not my house. I sat up slowly as the sheets slid off my legs. A very familiar scent hit me and I groaned.

“Can’t believe I’m thinking about Luca even now.” I thought to myself. Why was his scent so strong? I turned slowly toward the door but someone was leaning against the wall. His wet dark hair clung to his face like he’d just stepped out of the shower. His icy blue eyes were locked on mine and his shirt was unbuttoned halfway, revealing a sculpted chest that shouldn’t have still had that effect on me. Luca was here…

“You pushed too far,” he said calmly, stepping forward. “Your body shut down.”

No, it couldn’t be. That voice was deeper now, but it was him.

“Luca?” I whispered, uncertain if this was a dream or reality.

He stepped into the light fully. “Have I ever told you how much I love the way you say my name?”

My throat tightened. He looked… different. More devastatingly handsome than I remembered. And those eyes…

“What the hell am I doing here?” I snapped, trying to find my voice.

“I felt your pain.” His voice was still calm. “And somehow… I found you.”

I scoffed. “So what, you care now?”

His lips twitched, amused. “Don’t get it twisted, Lana darling. My wolf cares but I don’t. Personally, I couldn’t care less if you drowned in your bathtub or got eaten alive.”

His words hit me harder than they should have.

“Your wolf,” I said with rising anger. “Right. I almost forgot that you’re a werewolf. And a part of you forgot to mention that before you shoved your wolf dick inside me.”

He didn’t flinch…. Asshole. “I didn’t think it was relevant,” he said, stepping closer. He lifted his hand and brushed the back of it across my forehead, like he was checking my temperature.

And even now… I felt a spark, like electricity under his touch. I closed my eyes without thinking as my breath hitched, shamefully so.

“You still react like that when I touch you?” he murmured, leaning in until I could taste his breath.

I opened my eyes to meet his hungry gaze but before I could say anything, the door creaked open. A woman walked in wearing lingerie, and her face was smudged with lipstick.

“You coming, babe?” she asked.

Babe? Of course. This was my cue to leave.

“You know what?” I said, ignoring the woman I just saw. “I need to go home. Call me a car, Luca. It’s the least you can do.”

But his arms folded, and the muscles in his chest shifted beneath the thin fabric of his shirt.

“You’re not going anywhere.”

I stared at him. “Excuse me?”

“The contract’s been signed.”

My heart dropped. “No, that’s not possible. What are you talking about? I haven’t signed anything.”

“But your father did,” Luca replied in a more serious tone. “And if he hasn’t told you…he revoked your CEO title and handed it to Courtney.”

No, he was lying. There was no way my father did that. I know my father hated me but he raised me to be the perfect heiress.

My knees almost buckled. “You’re lying.”

“Am I?” he said, his gaze never wavering. “You trusted your father way more than you should have.”

“No.” I shook my head, stumbling backward. “I worked for that title. I earned it. There’s no way”

“It’s already done Lana and now there’s no going back,” Luca growled but I shoved past him, stumbling toward the door. The pain returned and I couldn’t walk anymore. I collapsed but Luca caught me in his arms.

“There’s just…” I whispered weakly, vision dimming. “No way…”

Chapter 72 Lana The call between Luca and I ended and I held the phone tightly wishing he was here already. I know Arya told me not to come outside but I was getting really worried because they were having a really heated argument. I wasn’t expecting Adrian stones to ever come here let alone be the person I was expecting. The moment I got pulled into that forest, were those voices trying to tell me that Adrian was the one coming? That would only make sense because before he got here, I felt restless and out of mind but the moment he got here, I have been at peace and I haven’t been overthinking anything, but why Adrian? Staying here wasn’t going to do anything for me, I needed to go outside to understand things for myself. It was about time everyone stopped making me stay indoors all in the name of trying to keep me safe. If there was some sort of trouble, I’d rather we face it all together instead of keeping me away like some egg. I left my room, and walked throu

Chapter 71 Luca When I looked down on the table, her blood that was scattered across the sheet joined together to form one bead and then it moved to a certain point on the map and that was Italy. “Well isn’t that convenient, the fucker is here in Italy so we don’t have to go far to find him,” Klin stated in my head. “The blood just moved, he’s in the south,” Miranda said, studying the map. “So he’s in the same state as us ? I didn’t think he would be so close..” Alaric said but the blood moved again, and Miranda’s face squeezed up. I checked my phone to see if there was anything new from home since Miranda was done chanting and when I thought I would find Tina’s missed calls but I found over fifty missed calls all from Arya and Lana. My phone was put on “do not disturb” for hours and I was so mad at myself for not checking on my phone earlier, why would Lana and Arya call me so many times. Alaric saw the look on my face and he pulled out his phone too. “I received calls fro

Luca I may not be a witch, but I know damn well that using dark magic demands something in return which is witch’s blood, or some kind of exchange. It’s a little surprising that Miranda’s willing to go this far for us, but if Lana’s life is in danger, I don’t care what it takes. She’s all that matters to me right now. Alaric’s eyes scanned the ancient walls of the hallway as we walked. The place looked extremely old judging from mold crawling up the stones and the odd smell. Apparently, the coffee shop had a hidden door leading straight into Miranda’s shrine or whatever witches call their ritual space. I wasn’t even surprised. Most witches who ran public businesses had a secret space tucked away somewhere. They were always sneaky like that, which was one of the many reasons I never trusted them. “We’re here,” Miranda said. “Take off your shoes before you enter.” She opened a massive wooden door carved with serpents slithering along the surface and their eyes glowed red under t

Lana Nothing could have prepared me for how insane today’s training with Arya would be like. We weren’t inside the training hall anymore because Arya had dragged me out into the open field, and I was running barefoot across the grass, running for my life. She was literally trying to kill me. Arya, in her wolf form, was chasing me through the open field, growling behind me. According to her, this was “speed training.” But according to me, it was attempted murder. My bare feet pounded against the soft damp dirt as I ran as fast as I could. Somehow, I was faster than I’d ever been..faster than her even, which shouldn’t have been possible. It was like the fear of being caught by her had unlocked something deep inside me that I didn’t know existed. “I don’t think I can keep running!” I yelled without daring to look back. If I slowed down for even a second, she’d catch me. It was Arya, so technically I shouldn’t have been scared but the training side of Arya was a monster. She wasn

Luca “So, I take it that you do know who they are?” I asked, watching her clear her throat, visibly uneasy with the direction of our conversation. “Your future Luna should have learned to control the Crystal’s power by now. What do you need the sages for?” “My mate is struggling to control her powers,” I said, keeping my tone firm. “She keeps blacking out, and the Crystal feeds on her anger. She needs someone who can help her contain it, that’s why I need to find them.” “Is there a reason we can’t know their true identity?” Alaric asked the same damn thought that had been running through my mind. Nothing about what Miranda said made any sense. “I’d love to help, especially since you’re offering to pay me well,” she said slowly, “but I can’t… because I don’t know who they are either.” I studied her face carefully, searching for any hint of a lie but she wasn’t lying. “You’re one of the best witches out there, Miranda. It’s disappointing to hear you say you don’t have any infor

Luca She looked exhausted, judging from her dull eyes and heavy shoulders. I wanted nothing more than for her to take the day off, skip training, and have a good rest, but I couldn’t do anything because she had to grow stronger. Getting more powerful was the only way the rest of the pack would respect her, and the only way she’d gain more control over the crystal. She was far stronger than she realized, and as much as I wanted to shield her and stop anyone from brushing even a single strand of her hair, I couldn’t. Doing that would only make her weaker, and that would only put her in more danger. “Do you think she’s still angry?” I asked Klin, surprising even myself. I never asked for his opinion on things like this, but the truth was, I was worried. Maybe I messed with her real feelings. “I would be angry with you if I were her,” Klin said bluntly in my head. “So yes, she’s still angry. You disregarded her feelings, and we both know it’s not just because you suspect the mat
