HAZEL'S POV
Breakfast was amazing.I felt completely full.I took a napkin and wiped away any leftover food particles from my mouth.I glanced at the clock on the wall to my left and saw that it was a quarter to nine."Shit," I muttered under my breath. Gabz would be here any minute.Aunty made a loud gasp at my minor slip up.I braced myself and waited for round two of her scolding, but to my surprise, it never came. She just lifted her head to the heavens with a hand over her chest and pleaded, "Lord, please help this girl," she shook her head in defeat. However, uncle wasn't too quick to forgive. "Hazel, you will not use those kinds of foul language in my presence!" He declared, raising an eyebrow at me.I wanted to avoid any controversy at all costs, so I quickly apologised before I excused myself from the table. Thanks to my brief outburst I had less than fifteen minutes to get ready before Gabz showed up.I literally bolted upstairs to my bathroom. I took what I believed was the quickest shower in history.I was out after only three minutes.I reapplied some concealer under my eyes and then got dressed in the same white tank top and knee-length floral skirt from earlier.I checked the time, it was two minutes to nine. I took a deep breath, then laid on my bed and waited for my crazy friend to arrive. The bed was so comfortable, sleep called out to me.Stay awake, Haze, I coaxed myself. My eyelids were so heavy.I'm just going to close them for five minutes, I yawned.Who the hell was I kidding, closing my eyes felt wonderful, I felt my body becoming lighter as wonderful sleep consumed me.I woke up shivering in bed. I heard the rain dancing on the windowsill.I saw nothing on the weather updates about getting rain today, I pondered to myself. With my eyes still closed, I snuggled closer to my pillow and pulled the blanket over my body.Gabz must be running late. She hated going outside in the rain.I wanted to go and check my phone to see if she texted, but that thought quickly left my mind the more I sank into the comfort of the bed."Ooh, this blanket is so silky," I purred as the rain pitter-pattered louder against the windowsill.Something about it raining while I was snuggled in the warmth of my bed brought a simple yet extraordinary satisfaction to my entire body.A gush of wind hit the back of my neck, it caused goose pimples to formulate all over my body."Why did I leave the window open?" I whined.Oh yeah, that damn weather lady expressed it was going to be a sunny and cool day. What a bitch, I snickered to myself. That's one reason I did not trust weather reports anymore.I remembered last year the weather lady declared it was going to be a sunny and beautiful fourth of July weekend, so my aunt decided that we should go to White Sands beach, which was like an hour away.As soon as we arrived, it started to rain and it never stopped until the early hours of the next day.I slowly positioned myself to get up from the bed.I groaned when I felt the comfort of the plushness leaving my body.I got up and lazily stretched my arms above my head and let out a loud yawn.Only if aunt Jules could see me now. I could almost hear her reprimanding me for looking like a human fly trap when I yawn."A lady should yawn like she's telling a secret." She'd say. Whatever the fuck that means. My eyes gradually opened inch by inch. My teeth were rattling.I wrapped my arms around my curvy body to try to stay warm.Today was too cold for a summer day in Los Angeles.I Rubbed my arms in an up and down motion for some well-needed friction. My eyes slowly started adjusting to the room.Suddenly! A tsunami of panic washed over me.My head moved from left to right. My eyeballs bulged out of my skull like I was a character from the Looney Toons cartoon."WHERE THE FUCK AM I?" I glanced around the enormous room that I was in, if I wasn't in survival mode I would have stopped and gawked at the beauty of its Victorian decor.I could tell that the person who lives here is filthy rich, and that's saying something coming from a girl who grew up with a family that owns a yacht and a private jet.I heard footsteps scampering from outside a door I assume led to a hallway. Not wasting another second, I sought out a hiding place.Maybe I could find a weapon of some sort that I could use to protect myself. It was obvious to me that I was kidnapped, maybe by some sadistic, saggy balls, wealthy old dude. But why would a wealthy old dude want to kidnap me, when there were so many social media thots looking to get with a sugar daddy? The footsteps were now directly at the front door. I had officially run out of time to find a decent weapon, so I rushed to a slightly open door.I peeked inside and saw that it was a closet. Holy shit! This closet was four times bigger than the one at home.I slid inside and closed the door behind me. Beads of sweat glistened on my forehead as I tried to calm my heart, which was beating at a hundred miles per hour.I kept my ears open. I heard the click of the bedroom door. The sounds of two sets of footsteps made their way inside.Trying to keep my heart rate even wasn't easy.My nervousness made my palms sweaty and my legs wobbly. I had to rest both my hands on the wall for support.I could hear talking, but I couldn't quite make out what they were saying. I placed my ear against the door to give myself a better chance of listening in on their conversation.I discovered two different male voices and a few phrases that made no sense at all to me. It's like they were speaking in some sort of code, using terms like; she-wolf, alpha, rogues, and mate. What the hell were they talking about? My curiosity got the best of me, so I decided I needed to get closer in order to hear exactly what they were saying.Maybe I could find out the reasons behind my kidnapping - but wait a damn minute, shouldn't they be alerting someone that I was no longer in the room? Shouldn't they be tearing this place apart trying to find me?Something was way off!I stooped down on my knees and cracked the door just enough for me to hear them better.I positioned myself on all fours and peeked through the crack of the door.I could make out the guy that was facing towards the closet. He did not look like a sugar daddy at all! He had blue eyes and pink lips. He had one hand at his side as he ran the other over his dark blonde hair. Ooh, how I wish that was my hand running through his ha - I stopped myself from finishing that thought. What the fuck girl, get a grip - you should not be fantasising about your potential kidnappers.I was definitely having an internal battle with myself. My eyes moved to the next guy, he was facing the guy with the blonde hair. He had dark raven coloured hair. I could detect the sheen from all the way across the room. I wondered what shampoo he uses. He probably uses leave-in-conditioner.His back was to me, he had tight khaki shorts on, that outlined his sexy butt perfectly. He didn't have a shirt on and I could perceive his beautiful muscles flexing as he talked. He had both hands in his pockets and I didn't need to see this guy's face to know that he was a heartbreaker.Something about him screamed dominance and sex. I just wanted to run my tongue over those tendons of his and maybe steal a few squeezes from his butt cheeks. I mentally smack the back of my head - focus Hazel! Focus!Alfonso led the group through the secret underground passageway beneath the castle. The air suddenly gained a musty, damp smell, the smell of death and decay. Nobody spoke until they reached a grey door hidden in the wall. “This is it, the entrance to the library.” Alfonso whispered.“And you're certain no one will be in there?” Alpha Zander double-checked. He replayed the plan over and over in his head, but something didn't feel right in the pit of his stomach. “Yes I'm sure. Prince Magnus or his guards never come here. They stay in the North and West wing of the castle.” Alfonso exhaled as he pressed the indention in the wall and the door quietly slid open. “Let's go, but be quiet.”Declan was the first person who tried to enter through the door. Zander yanked him back by his collar. “Where the fuck do you think you're going?”“I cannot stay behind Alpha. Maddox and I will go mad if we don't go to her.”“Declan, you can't go,” Lucinda warned. “But she's my mate,” he yelped.“I kn
ANONYMOUS POV"Blink! Blink!" Alpha Zander tried to coax himself. He still seemed to believe his ears had deceived him. Did the queen just say Hazel was with child? He asked himself and his wolf, Gidian answered. "That is undoubtedly what she said. Not that it's impossible, but how come we can't smell our pup inside her?"Zander's fingers stroked the side of his Luna's face, who wasn't moving an inch. "I don't know, but I think Lucinda knows why," Zander replied telepathically to his wolf. The way how Lucinda was staring told him she had some idea of what was going on. Currently, he didn't know what to make of the situation. The other werewolves were thinking the same. Confusion, excitement, and concern were only a few emotions that were swirling around in the air. And also staining the air with an enormous punch was fear. Fear of what this may mean for Luna Hazel. James remembered the first time he smelt his son growing inside Sue-Ling, the she-wolf he was set to marry. A wave of
HAZEL'S POVShe looks like me; I thought, or maybe I look like her. My hair was still dripping wet as I trudged back to the hideout. Maddox dashed off so quickly before I could even get two sentences in. I knew he didn't mean to peep on me, and it was my fault, anyhow. I knew better than to be taking baths in lakes in places that were strange to me. But I was just so irritated and my blood seemed hot, so I had to cool down. I promised myself I'd talk with Declan when I saw him. My footsteps were silent as I hiked up to the others. Lucinda's head fell backward as she laughed, just the way I always do. Her nose was a clone of mine, and her hair, though it was styled in many braids, was the same length as mine, just a bit more kinky. I glared at the woman who left me at birth, my eyes welled with tears. There were so many times I wished I had her around when I was growing up. I quickly blinked back my tears and proceeded toward them. My stomach churned the way Isis was treating her; l
DECLAN'S POVThis was torment, real torture. My wolf and I couldn't help but stare. Like glue, our views were stuck on our Luna bathing in the river. Her waist-length hair was dripping wet and delicately settled over her shoulder. Her rear was to us, and her bodacious backside was making my appendage jerk in need. I would rather not be there anymore. I wanted to go, but Maddox's paws kept creeping forward closer to her. “What are you doing?" I urged my wolf. “Let's go back."“I can't. There's something in the air telling me she is my mate," he explained. I wanted to agree with him since I felt it too. But out of respect and love for my alpha, I had to do the right thing. “But she isn't. She belongs to our Alpha and this is wrong," I told him. This caused him to stop, but not before stepping on a twig. The sound startled Hazel and made her to turn hastily in our direction. She was ringing out the excessive water from her hair. Maddox went into a panic when his eyes engaged with hers
Poor James stood completely frozen in front of his mate. His companions were just as mesmerized by the woman they saw. Her hair was woven into long micro-braids that touched the small of her back. Her Nubian nose was a little different, it had a tiny jewel that glinted on the left side. But the ebony-black skin, the wispy eyelashes, the plump coral lips, and the eyebrows that were always turned up at the inward tips, furrowed, as if judging everything you're doing, were exactly as James remembered. His eyes raked her figure. She seemed more mature, and he liked that. It had been 19 years since he'd seen her, so of course she'd look different. But one thing was for sure: she was even more beautiful than ever. “Lucinda,” James whispered. “Is it really you?” He held his breath and closed his eyes. Lucinda stretched out her fist and ran her palm over his cheek. James gasped for air, leaning into her touch. His frame erupted with sparks at every juncture of his body. “Yes, my love. It i
Hazel grew up watching fairytales on Disney Channel. She puckered her lips and kissed the Frog Prince with Tiana. Just like Belle, she fell in love with the Beast. She and Gabrielle danced with Pocahontas in the wind, and she can't forget when she fought a war with Mulan. Fairytales had always been her thing. So her imagination conjured up what she thought the Fae World would look like; gold, silver, and shimmer everywhere. She even pictured pink talking clouds that tasted like cotton candy. But to her dismay, she wasn't prepared for the truth. The portal vanished with a tremendous cracking sound, like glass being broken, leaving our nine supernatural friends stupefied. There was no wind in the Fae World. Pieces of the sky were falling like dried paint from a wall. “Is this it, Mommy? Is this where you're from?" Tia looked up to a teary-eyed Cedella. Her ghostly tears were the only shimmering detail Hazel saw. Cedella couldn't answer her daughter. The only thing she could do was moa
