“Take them straight to the Moonlight Pack, they should be locked up in the dungeon!” The King's Beta ordered, his voice hot as he paced back and forth. It was a good thing that the rogues that attacked them were captured, he couldn't wait for the King to make the quick recovery doctor Jackson had promised so he'd deal with them severely.
They were ambushed and attacked by anonymous rogues on their way to the Moonlight Pack, the reason for the attack was unknown at that moment and Ryder wasn't having it, his concern was for the King who suffered a severe blow to the head while trying to protect the royal Healer and Gamma. “He's out of danger!” Doctor Jackson announced and Ryder's face lit up. “Surprisingly, he didn't lose so much blood, like I promised you will be out of here tomorrow.” “Can I see him?” The Beta couldn't control himself. “No, he is sleeping, but he will wake up soon.” The doctor said with a smile that was reassuring. “Alright then,” Ryder nodded. “Thank you,” “It's a pleasure attending to the Alpha's wounds,” Jackson said before leaving. His face suddenly fell upon seeing Hailey. “You slow little girl!” He said through closed teeth. Hailey was right, the doctor would not spare her, but he knew better than to berate her at a moment like this, he needed Hailey to be in her senses so she could attend to the Alpha, if he had any other option he wouldn't choose Hailey for this task. “B-but sir-” she stuttered, trying to express her feelings. But who would understand her? Wouldn't they call her stupid if she voiced her fears? No one has ever believed she was being mistreated by her own family, so how would they understand that she cannot go against her mother's wishes? She felt it would be a great sin to attend to the Alpha, it would be a great sin.” “Stop stuttering nonsense!” He barked, startling her. “Goodness,” he sighed, it made his blood boil that he couldn't shout at her at this moment. “Hailey dear,” his voice was soft. “Don't make me repeat myself, here's the Alpha's file, go and take care of him, I have other patients to tend to.” “B-but…” her fingers trembled as she collected the file. “Now, don't make a mess of this!” He ordered before leaving. She was stunned, her mother wasn't here but she still feared to disobey her. But this was her job, the same person they were trying to make her stay away from had come to her as her patient. Hailey sighed. Nobody is going to know, with that thought she walked into the Alpha's room. The Alpha's eyes twitched, he was in deep sleep but his heart skipped a beat. His fingers began moving. “Alpha Killian,” She bowed, her eyes downcasted, she didn't want to look at him, and she wouldn't let him see her face as well, she had to pay heed to her mother, unknown to her, the Alpha wanted to see her face so badly at that moment; even while unconscious he felt the spark. Hailey had sat beside him, waiting for the Alpha to wake up so she'd immediately examine him and administer medication to him, as she sat lost in thoughts she couldn't figure out how she'd do that without letting him see her face or her looking at him. Meanwhile, her scent disturbed the Alpha, making him restless. “Hailey,” Dr. Jackson called, his voice was low so he wouldn't wake the Alpha yet it startled her. “Y-yes sir,” she answered darting to him. “We need extra hands at the emergency unit, here,” he handed her a file. “Alright sir,” she hastened to collect the file, it was a relief for her, she had been saved from disobeying her mother. “Alright girl, get to work.” He ordered and she rushed out. Few hours later, the Beta came to see the Alpha but he was still sleeping. He looked fine. The doctor had informed Ryder that once he woke up and had his rest they would be discharged since they were in a hurry. “Sweet one,” The Alpha whispered in his sleep. “My lord!” Ryder exclaimed happily. “Sweet one,” the Alpha kept saying, as he struggled to open his eyes. This confused Ryder, who was Killian dreaming about? “Where's she?” He asked the moment he opened his eyes. “Who are you talking about, my King?” Ryder was confused. “The girl that was here? I need to see her!” He demanded. “My Alpha, you must've had a dream, there was no girl in here.” The Beta said, unknown to him the Alpha was referring to his doctor. “Hm,” he growled softly. “I'm sure there was a girl here, I heard her mumblings and footsteps.” He said, remembering everything as if he was awake. “And her scent,” the king muttered. “What?” Ryder asked, he didn't catch the last words. “Summon all the women that were in here,” he ordered, he would recognize her scent, he was desperate to see her. “Why? My king, there was no woman here, just the nurses and doctors that tended to you.” “Summon all of the female health workers then,” he said through closed teeth, he was getting tired of the Beta's questions. “Right away my King,” Ryder bowed before darting out. **** “That girl has done something then, she must've offended the king!” Jackson complained, he couldn't understand why the King had asked to see all the female workers. “Where is she anyway?!” He asked hotly. “Has she left already?” “Yes sir,’’ one of the staff replied. “Oh no!” He sighed. “If there's anything Hailey brings, it's trouble.” He hesitated for a moment. “Nina, you take her place.” “Me?” She widened her eyes. Why would she take the blame for someone else's faults? “But I wasn't with her.” “I know, I will compensate you.” He said, glaring at her. “Don't worry, the Alpha won't show his cold side to a girl.” He sighed. “Let's go now.” They walked to the Alpha's room, worry written on their faces. Whatever Hailey had done, they were left to be punished for it, especially Nina, she had already begun crying. However, to their biggest surprise the Alpha sat with a calm expression, he leapt from the bed, eager to see this girl. The women's faces were downcasted. “Hm,” he growled softly, his face fallen. She wasn't there. None of these women were the girl he was looking for. His mate was not there. “Is everything alright my Lord?” Ryder asked, concerned. “She's not here,” he said, disappointed. “My lord, this is the only girl that was with you, she's your doctor,” Jackson said, pointing to Nina. “She's very clumsy sometimes, we apologise for the inconveniences caused.” “She's not the one,” Killain said, staring at her. “She's not my mate.” “Your mate?” Ryder widened his eyes, stunned.Killain and his men had been waiting for Doris to bring Hailey so they could get on with their journey and here she was, sitting next to Hailey, smiling.“Apologies my king,” Doris said, bowing. “I was making sure she was more than ready for the journey.”“Is that right, my mate?” Killian asked, stepping closer to Hailey. Her heart raced wildly as he neared her. Hailey nodded shyly. “Let's go,” he said, extending his arm for Hailey and she shyly took it. Without a word, Killian walked out of the room, leaving Doris staring after them in admiration. ****“Finally,” Beta Ryder breathed. It had been days but they finally arrived at the hill top. The sorceress possessed great magical powers, she was one of a kind and capable of breaking unbreakable spells. It was rumoured that she was over a thousand years old and the last of her kind. She also had remarkable healing abilities, Peach Mistress assured the king that she was the only one who could help Hailey. The hut was small, the only
Hailey sat peacefully, staring at her reflection in the mirror. Doris had personally done her makeover, ensuring she looked her best and like the queen she was for their journey. But it wasn't this beautiful dress, the expensive jewelry or the praises she received from her three maids and Doris that made her happy, it was Killian's sweet smile when he came to visit her and his assuring words that made her happy.“I'm finally going to be fine,” she whispered to herself. “I hope all goes well.”Peach Mistress had told Hailey her mental health condition and weak wolf was as a result of the spells and medicines her stepfamily had been feeding her. It finally made sense to her why she was weak, forgetful, naive and lost almost all the time. She wasn't born that way. Her stepfamily who hated her more than anything had turned her into everything she was. Their wickedness had crippled her. And for Killain. For her late father who they claimed she killed; she would become better, she would do
Hailey was surprised and at the same time excited that the Alpha had actually plucked the rose and despite his annoyance and the distress she caused him, he still carried it with him. She suddenly realized how important she was to him and that she was really special.“Thank you,” her lips curled into a sweet smile, she was too shy to show her face as she smiled. “Thank you, mate, for coming back to me.” Killian whispered, then suddenly, his expression twisted into anger and vexation, he turned his gaze to the guard who was still on the ground, baffled and in pain.“You dared to touch my mate! You look at her with small eyes?!” Killain growled hotly. “I will punish you greatly! It will serve as a warning to anyone who dares to come close to her!” Hailey's expression changed as well, she became frightened seeing how angry the king was. The guard was on his knees, sobbing and begging the king not to punish him. He tried to explain that he mistook Hailey for one of the girls who had a h
Meanwhile, Killian paced anxiously in the garden, still holding the rose he had plucked for Hailey. He felt her presence, like she was in the palace, however, the fact that the guards had checked every corner but still couldn't find her made it difficult to follow his feelings. The king found himself lost without his mate, he was afraid that she may never come back to him. “Hailey, please … come back!” He whispered.“Let me go!” Hailey cried, trying to free herself from his hold. “I will teach you a lesson today! You think you can just come here, demanding to be the king's mate when we are all stressed out, looking everywhere for her?” He yelled sharply. “I will lock you up without food or anything for days before handing you to the Alpha who I assure you, girl, will deal greatly with you!” Lorry wanted to stop James but he couldn't, they were in the same position and since Hailey had said something offensive, he had no right to stop James from locking her up. If the king himself h
Hailey was happy to be back to the palace. As she stared at the palace gates, she imagined how she would run into the king's arms and apologize to him for leaving without a word. But her excitement was cut off when one of the guards, spotting her standing beside a tree, her eyes glued to the palace, walked over to her and sternly asked her to leave.“I'm here to see the king,” Hailey said, her heart pounding in fear. The guard's stern look was beginning to frighten her.“Why is that? For what reason do you want to see him?” Hailey was shy, she didn't know how to explain she was the king's Hailey.“I asked you a question! Answer!” The guard yelled, startling Hailey and her fingers began to tremble in fear. Why was this man speaking to her so harshly like she was some trouble? Had she suddenly offended him?“I … I'm … I'm sorry,” she cried, her lips trembling. “Please, don't be … offended. I didn't …. I didn't mean to offend you. I just—”“Will you shut up?!” He roared. “Why are you st
Hailey didn't want to speak to this stranger even though she looked safe and was genuinely kind. But the weight of her problems pressed her, her heart felt heavy, at that moment, she wanted to express everything to someone, she felt the need to let it all out however, the words choked in her throat, she wanted to break down crying again.“Is it about your mate?” Hearing these words, Hailey instantly broke into tears and the kind lady understood that Hailey was heartbroken. She quickly pulled Hailey into her arms and the poor girl gave into the lady's embrace, wailing bitterly. The lady managed to take Hailey to a nearby restaurant, where in the privacy of the restroom, Hailey cried. At first, it seemed as though the crying wasn't going to stop, the lady got worried and was about to knock on the door when Hailey opened the door. Her eyes were red and puffy from crying. She was so lost and heartbroken that all she could do was cry her eyes out.“Feeling better?” The kind lady asked wit
