Lanka Monroe POV

"Keep your hands off me, you rogue executioners!"

I snarl, my claws scraping uselessly against the leather seats as the black enforcers pin my shoulders down. The heavy vehicle swerves violently around the dark, winding roads of the territory.

"Shut your mouth and sit down, Omega, unless you want your scent glands shredded before we reach the medical wing."

The larger enforcer grunts, ripping my leather satchel from my grip and tossing it under the seat.

"Did Andrew order this ambush, or is this Maren's twisted pack politics?"

My heart hammers against my ribs while the silver-plated restraints click around my wrists, burning my skin.

"Just stay quiet, Alpha Wolfe’s little mate, and your pup won't have to suffer the silver needles early."

The driver barks, pushing the accelerator down as the heavy armored vehicle tears through the borders toward the Silverline Medical Center.

"Get him inside the extraction cell right now!"

Maren Cole commands the pack shamans the second they drag me through the iron doors of the medical wing.

"What kind of dark magic are you performing on my body, Maren?"

I yell, baring my fangs as a heavy-set nurse grabs my arm to drag me toward the cold stone slab.

"Stop throwing an immature tantrum, Lanka. It is merely a bloodline verification ritual to test the pup’s alpha resonance."

Maren sneers, her eyes flashing an aggressive amber that demands complete submission.

"A simple ritual does not require silver chains and rogue executioners! Let me go!"

I scream, twisting my hips to break the hold of the pack guards, my teeth bared in pure defiance.

"We are extracting amniotic fluid and pack essence from your womb, so lie still before the silver needle pierces your core."

Maren says, signaling three raw Alphas to pin my limbs down onto the freezing stone table.

"I refuse to let you touch my child! The pack laws state an Omega's body belongs to his true mate, not the council elders! Andrew would tear your throat out if he knew you were forcing silver instruments near his blood!"

I screech, my skin burning as they strip my shirt away to expose my flat stomach.

"You think Andrew is coming to save you, little omega boy? He wants to know if that bastard pup carries his true wolf genes just as badly as I do."

Maren whispers, leaning over me until her sour, aging pheromones choke my breathing.

"Doctors, insert the extraction lance now."

"Alpha, we have an emergency at the medical sanctuary!"

Daniel Cho breaks into the inner pack den without bared teeth, gasping for air.

"State your business, Daniel, or I will crush your windpipe for disrupting a territorial pact."

Andrew Wolfe growls, his massive frame rising from the carved wooden table where the Hawthorne family patriarch sits waiting with the blood-sealed treaties.

"Your mother just took Lanka by force to the Silverline cells to puncture his stomach for a lineage test."

Daniel says, dropping his head in submission.

"Forgive the interruption, Elder Damon, but my mate’s compliance requires my direct presence."

Andrew says, turning his icy glare toward the Hawthorne patriarch while his knuckles turn pure white against the stone desk.

"Go handle your domestic omega matters, Alpha Wolfe. The Hawthorne alliance can wait an hour."

Damon Hawthorne says with a dark, knowing chuckle.

"Andrew would never let you desecrate our mate bond like this."

I whisper, the taste of blood thick on my tongue as the silver needle hovers inches above my flesh.

"He does not care about a broken omega from a ruined pack. Now hold his legs down!"

Maren yells.

"Don't do it, please. I will submit, just don't use the silver."

I sob, losing all my strength as the freezing metal touches my skin, sending a piercing, agonizing shock right through my lower belly.

"Lanka! What are you doing to him? Stop this illegal extraction immediately!"

Julian Park roars, crashing through the heavy oak doors of the sanctuary cell just as the needle retracts.

"Julian?"

I gasp, my vision blurring as he pulls my trembling, half-naked body against his warm chest.

"I am here, Lanka. I have got you now."

Julian whispers, wiping the sweat from my forehead.

Andrew grabbed my hand with brutal force, yanking my arm forward and forcing my trembling fingertips to brush against his bloody lips. His lower lip was split open from where my teeth had ripped into his skin, and he dragged my knuckles across the gash, staining my pale skin with a smearing crimson line of high Alpha blood. The stone corridor near the lower healing ward was quiet in the dead of night.Only two guards stood rigid in the shadowy corners, discreetly averting their eyes from our chaotic altercation.I was pinned back against the cold stone wall, my chest heaving in short, furious gasps as a burning flush of humiliation and rage rushed up my throat, my eyes stinging with angry, hot tears."You lunatic!" I hissed, shoving my hands hard against his broad, iron-like chest. "Get off me!"I pushed with every ounce of strength in my body, my dark eyes completely clear of the devotion I used to have for him.Andrew stared straight down into my eyes, his jaw clenching so hard a mu

"Tomorrow at dawn, the enforcers will be here to drag her to the dark wards." Andrew stepped forward, his massive frame closing the distance as he took my hand into his broad grip. My palm was freezing from the corridor draft, but his heavy, feverish heat enveloped my fingers, his rough thumb gently rubbing warmth back into my skin.My mind was still stuck on Serena's twisted schemes as I stared up at him. "The enforcers?"Although Serena's lies were sickening, attempting a fake miscarriage wasn't an offense that warranted dark cell imprisonment under pack law.Why had Andrew summoned the High Council's executioners?A lethal flare lit up Andrew's golden eyes. "The dark spell that poisoned Daniel Cho's wolf core had Serena's magic signature all over it."He had dispatched his shadow units to track the curse back to the border, but the rogue mages had fled into the mountains. It had been like searching for a dropped blade in a roaring river. With Serena's treachery blown wide open toni

I frowned, my fists clenching tight at my sides as I averted my gaze, only to catch Serena’s arrogant, mocking stare. It was as if Serena was silently sneering right into my face: Look at you, Lanka. Andrew will never take your word over mine. He’ll always find a way to let me off the hook.My claws dug into my palms. Serena’s confidence swelled as she stepped forward, pointing her finger accusingly at my chest."Lanka, you've already stolen my place in this pack, so why do you insist on judging me with such pure malice?!"Her voice trembled with fake grievance as she spun around toward Margaret and Damon, blood-red tears leaking down her pale cheeks."Mother Margaret, Lord Damon, you heard what Lord Andrew said! How could I ever lie to the elders? Quentin is dead, I’m carrying his blood while being publicly humiliated, and my own Hawthorne lineage is crumbling under political pressure! Even my own family blames me! I am just a fragile male omega in desperate need of protection and wa

Andrew lifted his broad hand, and Daniel Cho immediately handed over the glowing communication slate. With a swift tap of his long, calloused fingers, Andrew played the hidden memory rune.A secretly recorded projection flared to life in the dim light of the room, capturing the exact second of the chaotic altercation at Grand Meridian Hall. The footage clearly showed Serena Wolfe suddenly dashing out from behind a pillar, screaming alongside Maren Cole as they feigned a stumble toward the stone stairs, only to be heroically shoved out of harm's way by Carllo Monroe. The evidence was irrefutable. Damon Hawthorne’s face darkened to a terrible, bruised purple, his jaw clenching as he found himself completely unable to defend his accusations.Elaine Brooks stood up from the edge of Margaret's bed, his soft voice smooth and soothing as he stepped into the space between the Alphas. "Lord Damon, it was indeed Master Carllo who saved my sister-in-law from a bone-crushing fall. The Hawthorne f

I clutched my fists until my short nails bit into my palms, but I turned around slowly, arching my dark brows in pure sarcasm."Let me guess, Lord Wolfe," I drawled, my wolf stirring with toxic disdain inside my chest. "Is it Serena Wolfe? Ha, as if taking her to the council will change a single thing. Are you actually willing to snap her neck for what she did to Carllo, or are you just putting on another pathetic performance?"With that forged lineage scroll from the healers and the tampered diary incident at Grand Meridian Hall, Serena had been openly running her deadly schemes right under his nose.Just because she carried an ancient exoneration decree from the old Alpha wars, was Andrew going to turn a blind eye to her blood crimes yet again?"Whether I am willing to break her or not, you will have to see with your own eyes," Andrew said sternly, his broad chest rising as his heavy Alpha voice vibrated off the stone walls.I didn't bother struggling against his grip anymore. Carll

I felt right then that even if the sacred Luna bonding ritual had gone off without a single flaw, I would still never truly belong in his exalted Alpha world.I held the worn, leather-bound journal in my hands for a long, silent second before I finally pulled the clasp open.Andrew stood by the war-carriage, his golden eyes watching me intently, assuming I was going to read through the authenticated pages to verify the dark magic used on them. But in the very next breath, my claws extended.I shoved the heavy leather window frame down, letting the freezing, snow-filled mountain wind howl straight into the cabin. With a series of sharp, violent rips, I tore my childhood diary to shredded scraps and threw the pieces straight out into the roaring blizzard.SCREECH!Andrew slammed his heavy boots onto the carriage brakes, the wheels locking with a deafening groan. His handsome, cut-face turned a terrifying shade of livid, and he lunged across the leather seat, his massive hands grabbing m
