The journey began before sunrise.

Aria rode at the front of the group, the Crown Blade secured at her side.

Kael rode beside her.

Cassian followed several steps behind.

The mountains ahead were covered in thick mist.

Somewhere beyond them stood the Sanctuary of Dawn—the only place where the ancient seal could possibly be restored.

But none of them knew what waited along the road.

For three days, they traveled without stopping.

The farther they went, the colder the air became.

The forests disappeared.

The trees became twisted and lifeless.

Even the animals seemed to have abandoned the land.

On the fourth morning, Aria noticed something strange.

No birds were singing.

No insects moved.

Even the wind had stopped.

She pulled on the reins.

"Something is wrong."

Kael immediately stopped.

Cassian looked around.

"We're close."

"Close to what?" Ronan asked.

Cassian pointed toward the mountains.

"The Ashen Wastes."

Ronan stared ahead.

"I've heard stories about this place."

"Everyone has."

"Most of them are probably exaggerated."

Cassian shook his head.

"They aren't."

They continued forward.

Soon, the ground beneath their horses changed from grass to gray ash.

Aria looked down.

"Why is the earth like this?"

Cassian's voice was quiet.

"Eight hundred years ago, this entire region was destroyed during the first war."

"Nothing has grown here since."

Kael looked toward the distant mountains.

"And the Sanctuary of Dawn?"

"Beyond the wastes."

They traveled until sunset.

When darkness came, they made camp beneath a large stone cliff.

Aria sat beside the fire.

Kael handed her a cup of water.

"You've barely spoken today."

"I'm thinking about the letter."

"The one from Queen Elyria?"

Aria nodded.

"She said I shouldn't let anyone make me choose between love and destiny."

Kael looked at her.

"Do you think someone will?"

Aria met his eyes.

"I don't know."

He reached for her hand.

"Then whatever happens..."

"You won't face it alone."

Before Aria could respond, a low growl came from the darkness.

Everyone reached for their weapons.

Ronan stood.

"Did you hear that?"

Cassian slowly rose.

"Stay behind me."

The darkness between the rocks began to move.

Two glowing eyes appeared.

Then another pair.

And another.

Dozens of creatures emerged from the shadows.

They were wolves.

But they were not normal wolves.

Their bodies were thin.

Their fur was completely white.

Their eyes were silver.

Cassian's expression changed.

"The Dawn Wolves."

Aria lowered her sword slightly.

"They don't look hostile."

Cassian shook his head.

"They're guardians."

"Guardians of the sanctuary."

One of the wolves stepped forward.

It stared directly at Aria.

Then it bowed its head.

The others followed.

Every wolf lowered itself before her.

Kael looked surprised.

"Why are they bowing?"

Cassian answered quietly.

"Because they recognize her blood."

The lead wolf turned and began walking toward the mountains.

Aria understood.

"It wants us to follow."

They packed their supplies and followed the wolves.

For hours, the animals guided them through narrow passages between the mountains.

At last, they reached a massive stone gate.

There were no guards.

No weapons.

Only an ancient symbol carved into the center.

A silver moon surrounded by seven stars.

Aria stepped forward.

The Crown Blade began to glow.

The symbol responded.

A deep rumbling sound filled the valley.

The stone gates slowly opened.

Beyond them stood a magnificent ancient city.

But it was completely empty.

Huge towers reached toward the sky.

Silver bridges connected buildings.

Water flowed through crystal channels.

At the center stood a massive temple.

The Sanctuary of Dawn.

Aria stared in awe.

"It's beautiful."

Cassian looked around.

"It hasn't changed."

Kael frowned.

"You've been here before?"

Cassian shook his head.

"No."

"Then how do you know?"

Cassian looked at the temple.

"My memories tell me."

Aria turned toward him.

"What does that mean?"

Cassian touched his temple.

"Since the Shadow Sovereign awakened..."

"Things I forgot are returning."

"Memories I buried centuries ago."

He looked toward Aria.

"And one of those memories is about this place."

Suddenly—

A bell rang from inside the sanctuary.

Once.

Twice.

Three times.

The wolves disappeared into the mist.

Aria tightened her grip on the Crown Blade.

"Someone is inside."

Kael drew his sword.

"Then we'll find out who."

They entered the temple.

The doors closed behind them.

Inside was a vast hall filled with ancient statues.

At the far end stood a throne.

And sitting upon it...

Was a man.

He looked no older than thirty.

His long black hair fell across his shoulders.

His eyes were silver.

A strange symbol covered the left side of his face.

Aria stopped.

The stranger opened his eyes.

"You finally came."

Kael stepped in front of Aria.

"Who are you?"

The man smiled.

"I am the last Guardian of Dawn."

Cassian stared at him.

"No..."

The Guardian slowly stood.

"My name is Orion."

Aria felt the Crown Blade suddenly become hot.

Orion's eyes moved to the sword.

Then to Aria.

"The final Moonblood."

He bowed.

"Welcome home."

But before either could say more...

A silver bird descended from the sky.

It landed on Aria's shoulder.

A small scroll was tied to its leg.

Aria untied it.

Her smile disappeared.

Kael noticed immediately.

"What is it?"

She slowly opened the message.

Only one sentence was written inside.

"Everdawn awaits its Queen."

Aria looked toward the eastern horizon.

The Crystal Compass began glowing.

The hidden kingdom was calling.

And their next journey...

It was about to begin.

The words on the scroll continued to glow.

Everdawn awaits its Queen.

Aria stared at them.

She had expected another warning.

Another enemy.

Another ancient secret.

Instead...

The message felt strangely peaceful.

Yet the Crystal Compass in her hand told a different story.

Its needle spun rapidly before pointing toward the eastern mountains.

Kael watched it carefully.

"How far?"

Lyssara stepped closer.

"If the old maps are correct..."

"Several weeks."

Ronan groaned.

"Several weeks?"

Magnus gave him a tired look.

"You survived a thousand-year-old war."

"I think you can survive a journey."

Ronan sighed.

"I was hoping for breakfast."

For the first time in days...

Everyone laughed.

The mood around Blackwood slowly changed.

Warriors began repairing the damaged gates.

Healers moved among the wounded.

Families returned to their homes.

The Shadow Court had vanished, but the scars of the battle remained.

Aria stood on the highest balcony of the castle, looking over the valley.

Kael joined her.

"You've been quiet."

"I'm thinking."

"About Everdawn?"

She nodded.

"And about everything that happened."

Kael leaned against the stone railing.

"You don't have to figure it all out today."

Aria looked at him.

"Do you ever get afraid?"

He smiled.

"Constantly."

She laughed.

"You don't look afraid."

"That's because I'm the Alpha."

"Apparently, Alphas are supposed to look like they know what they're doing."

Aria smiled.

"I don't think I know what I'm doing either."

Kael looked at her seriously.

"Then we'll learn together."

A gentle breeze moved through the balcony.

For a moment...

The world felt normal.

Then Aria felt a warm pulse against her chest.

The Heart of the First Queen.

She touched it.

A faint image appeared above her palm.

A white castle.

Floating above a sea of clouds.

At its center...

A giant silver tree.

Aria stared.

"Everdawn."

Kael nodded.

"The hidden kingdom."

Behind them, the First Guardian approached.

"There is something you should know before you leave."

Aria turned.

"What?"

"The journey to Everdawn isn't simply a journey."

He handed her a small silver pendant.

It carried the symbol of ten stars surrounding a crescent moon.

"The people of Everdawn have been waiting for the next Queen."

"What happens when I arrive?"

The Guardian's expression became serious.

"They will test you."

"How?"

"With the three trials."

Aria sighed.

"Of course there are trials."

The Guardian smiled.

"Strength."

"Wisdom."

"And sacrifice."

Aria's expression changed.

"Sacrifice?"

He nodded.

"The final trial has never been passed without a Queen giving up something she loves."

Kael immediately stepped forward.

"Then she doesn't have to take it."

The Guardian looked at him.

"Every Queen must."

Aria quietly shook her head.

"Maybe the old rules don't apply anymore."

The Guardian smiled.

"That..."

"...is exactly what Everdawn wants to discover."

That evening...

The royal hall was filled with people.

Blackwood's warriors stood along the walls.

The Ashen Covenant stood beside them.

The Guardians gathered near the throne.

Aria stood beside Kael.

She looked at the people before her.

"We've spent too long fighting because of secrets left by those who came before us."

"I don't want another war."

"I don't want kingdoms fighting over bloodlines."

"I want the truth."

"And if Everdawn holds the answers..."

"Then I'll go there."

The hall erupted in cheers.

Kael took her hand.

"We leave at sunrise."

But far away...

Beyond the eastern mountains...

A hidden city slowly awakened.

White towers rose above the clouds.

Silver banners fluttered in the wind.

Thousands of people gathered in the streets.

At the center of the city stood an ancient throne.

Empty.

Waiting.

An elderly man wearing a white crown looked toward the horizon.

The Crystal Compass had been seen.

He smiled.

"The Queen is coming."

Beside him, a young woman lowered her head.

"What should we do when she arrives?"

The old king's smile disappeared.

"Test her."

"And if she fails?"

He looked toward the empty throne.

"Then Everdawn will choose another."

The young woman hesitated.

"And if she passes?"

The old king slowly stood.

"Then we finally tell her..."

"...who her parents truly were."

The bells of Everdawn began to ring.

Ten times.

Across the hidden kingdom...

Every citizen looked toward the eastern gate.

The lost Queen was coming home.
