Evelyn's Pov

David must have noticed the expression on my face when I finally recognized him, because he smirked and held out a napkin for me.

“Your makeup is smudged,” he said politely.

“Thanks.” I blushed as I reached for the makeup then, used it to wipe whatever was left of my makeup.

“Rough night?” David said the second I was done wiping my face.

“I guess you could say that,” I replied.

“You know,” he said, his golden eyes studying my face, “you look better without makeup.”

His words made me blush even more. What are the odds that the hockey captain would be hitting on me on the night of my birthday, right after my boyfriend had cheated on me?

“Do you treat every girl like this?” I said suddenly, surprised and embarrassed at my own question. It must have been the alcohol. David simply smirked again and finished the last of his drink.

He reached forward and brushed a stray hair out of my face. “If you’re so intrigued by how I treat girls, why don’t you come see it for yourself? I live in Clover Hall, first floor. Room A06.” His voice was low and sultry, and as we leaned closer together, I felt my breathing become slower and more aroused.

I frowned then and pulled away. I needed comfort tonight, but not that sort of comfort.

“No way,” I said, crossing my arms. “I know your reputation. You’re a player.”

“So what if I am?” David murmured. “It’s your decision, but my room is open to you all night. You can walk anytime you want but my offer is open only tonight. After today, it won't be.”

With that, David sat back up and placed some money down on the counter.

“Take whatever the lady's having out of my tab.” he said to the bartender and sauntered out of the bar.

I kept sipping my water while I thought about the unexpected proposition of sex.

David was well-known as an adonis, a handsome player. Ever since David and Marsei, the cheerleader who stole my boyfriend, broke up last semester, David’s dorm had a constant stream of gorgeous girls going in at night and walking out the next morning, their lipstick smeared and their hair a mess. No girls ever went back; David only participated in one night stands.

I had never been interested in one night stands. Back then in high school, my classmates called me a nerd because of the way I looked — thick glasses and long skirt. I never had a chance with any of the boys, not even the nerds. The one time I thought I had a chance was when the football quarterback asked me to prom. It turned out to be a prank. The entire school had laughed at me as I showed up in my white dress, excited to dance with the quarterback, only for him to trip me and make me fall on the dance floor.

“Why would I want you?” he had said, pointing and laughing. “An uggo like you will never have a boyfriend!”

After that, I swore that I would focus on my studies without any distractions. Miraculously, I grew out of my “ugly duckling phase” the moment I started college. A lot of boys tried to get me to hook up with them, but I just wasn’t interested. If I was going to let a boy interrupt my studies, he would have to be someone I was truly in love with, someone who was perfect both intellectually and face-wise.

I had thought that Tommy would be the one. He seemed so sweet and kind, but I guessed wrong. He was the same as that quarterback in high school. After tonight, I’m never falling in love again.

“Sorry to say this, young lady, but the bar’s closing soon,” the bartender said, breaking me out of my deep thought. I nodded, finished off the last of my water and left the bar. The thought of going home right now made me sick. I couldn't face anyone just yet. But where would I go?

David's offer echoed in my head and I stilled. Should I really go there? He was a player and I couldn't trust him. But the last person I trusted betrayed me. At least, David didn't hide his intentions like Tommy did.

I threw my hair over my shoulder and went anyway.

I showed up at David’s dorm a little while later. Before I entered, I hesitated for a second. Was keeping my dignity really worth avoiding home? But I was all dressed up tonight with expensive lingerie, and besides… With Tommy and Marsei’s betrayal, what would be a better way to get back at them both?

Taking a deep breath, I turned the knob and entered David’s room.

He was sitting on the couch when I entered, as though he had been waiting for me.

“Change your mind, eh?” he said, standing and crossing the room toward me. He was much taller than me, and muscular to boot. This close, I could smell his cologne. It made my panties wet, almost like a pheromone.

“So,” he said, “what changed your mind? I thought my reputation scared you.”

“I just… Could use a little comfort,” I said.

Without saying anything, he leaned down and cupped my chin with his hand. He kissed me deeply, his tongue exploring my mouth in a way that Tommy’s never had.

After we kissed, he wrapped his arms around my waist and picked me up. I wrapped my legs around him as he carried me to the bedroom. Our lips smacked together the whole way there. I bit his lower lip, which caused him to groan, and when we entered his dimly lit bedroom he slammed the door behind us and laid me down on the bed.

I was trembling, but there was something surprisingly gentle about David’s touch. I had expected a careless brute who only cared about getting himself off, but as he leaned over me and slid his fingers down my panties, I realized that my assumptions were wrong.

Before he could slide inside me, I grabbed his wrist and stopped him.

“Wait, I … I’m a virgin,” I whispered.

David was silent for a few moments. I was worried he wouldn’t want to continue after learning this about me, but then he merely smirked.

“I figured,” he replied, leaning down to nibble my ear. “I’ll be gentle with you.”

I let out a loud moan, arching my back as he slid into me, going faster and faster, until I was soaking wet and moaning loudly. I kissed and bit his neck as he fingered me, and moaned into his skin.

When it was over, David and I laid in bed for a minute before he got up and put on his underwear. I sat up, feeling both heavenly and ashamed of myself, and pulled my panties on.

There was something different about David now that we had had sex; his body language seemed more wild and dominant, and when he looked at me, his pupils were dilated. His eyes almost seemed like a different colour.

He smiled at me then and his teeth were sharp and glistening. My heart started to race as I felt like he was a wolf and I was his prey.

Swallowing, I stood and put the rest of my clothes on.

“See you around.” Before David could reply, I rushed out of the bedroom and left the dorm.

What was that look he gave me? Why did he look so… feral?

  • THE ALPHA'S FORBIDDEN OBSESSION    CHAPTER 12

Evelyn's POVI paused at the entrance of the hockey arena, not even sure why I'd come. I would rather be anywhere else but here. One of the players had called, he said his name was Ronan. I knew him. He was one of the notorious playboys on campus, basically David's right-hand man.I took a deep breath and opened the door. I was here already, there is no point going back now. My hand hovered over the handle longer than it should have, like some part of me was still looking for an excuse to run away from it all. I hadn't told Daya and Sera I was coming, I knew they'd put ideas in my head, especially Sera, and I didn't have the energy to have conflicting ideas in my head.I finally pushed the door opened and entered, I walked slowly and I could bet it was easy to know I didn't even know what I was to do. "Excuse me, miss. Can I help you?" A man, probably in his late forties, looked at me, quietly assessing me or maybe he was judging me, a frown settled on his face and he looked at me l

  • THE ALPHA'S FORBIDDEN OBSESSION    CHAPTER 11

David's POV"You think if she doesn't come out and make an official statement, you're keeping her safe?" Coach asked. It was like nothing I said was getting through to him. We rarely argued, but whenever we did, it was always difficult. Coach Dylan had to be the most stubborn human I have ever met."I don't care how you do it," I snapped, feeling my head getting hotter "I want that story gone.""She has to say something to clear up the misunderstanding.""Dylan!""Calm down, Alpha."Ronan stepped between us, blocking my line of sight before I did something I would most likely regret. I knew I was losing my thoughts. I could feel Nathan feeding off my anger. I needed to calm down, but my emotions were getting the better of me."Fuck this!"I stormed out, slamming the door hard enough for the walls to come down with it.I heard Ronan following me, but I couldn't care less. I headed straight for the Wolves' Den and into the bathroom. I remember Evelyn's face when I first brought her h

David's pov My head was throbbing like crazy,I didn't know what to do about Evelyn yet and now I am listening to whatever the hell coach was rambling about. "Are you even listening to me?" He snapped, and it took everything in me not to go over and slam him to the wall. Coach Dylan has been close to the pack for as long as I can remember, he is human but he pretty much knew all our secrets. But my emotions were not in the right place and I was giving him a death glare which he was very aware of. "I am" I answered looking away, I didn't want to hear another topic about my werewolf shit. "You don't understand how big all this is do you?" "Who the fuck believes those things, nobody reads them" I snapped and I could feel Nathan threatening to surface. "Your career is on the line David, you put the whole team in chaos." Why does everyone keep saying that, hell It wasn't that deep. "I slept with a girl and that is suddenly news?" I retorted, matching his gaze. I just didn't

  • THE ALPHA'S FORBIDDEN OBSESSION    CHAPTER 9

Evelyn's POVI shut my laptop with a groan. This was stupid, not just stupid, it was ridiculous. Why should I feel bothered about anything David told me? The guy was weird. I doubted anyone would still be fangirling over him if they knew he was this much of a psycho. Then again... Sera probably wouldn't mind. That girl is wild. I should be studying. I had an exam tomorrow, yet I'd spent the last hour doom-scrolling and reading about werewolves like I'd completely lost my mind. I might have really lost my mind actually. My phone screen lit up and I frowned. I barely gave out my number, so seeing a message from an unknown number immediately put me on edge. I didn't even want to deal with any of it. I ignored it and opened my laptop again to continue studying. Maybe I really should just sleep. I'd already lied to Sera and Daya, telling them I wasn't going to study for the night but here I was doing exactly what I said I wouldn't do. The phone buzzed again. I was about to block the

Evelyn's POV "Bro I can't believe this, no wonder he approached you at the games" Daya practically screamed. I was really uncomfortable having this conversation with her, but I know I couldn't avoid it. "You are being dramatic" I rolled my eyes at her and walked into the kitchen for some water. "This is some premium stuff, your ex cheated on you and the same night you slept with the sexiest man on earth, You are one lucky bitch" My friends are crazy, especially daya. "It was a mistake and I won't be making it again" I regret everything, secretly dating tommy, sleeping with David, I wasn't that kind of girl. I shook my head at Daya and downed the glass of water. She gave me that look that seems to make me feel open, like she could see everything, like she knew everything I was thinking about. Daya was like that, always acting like the mother bird everyone never knew they needed. "I just–" I sighed running my finger through my hair. I was confused, I didn't know what to think

  • THE ALPHA'S FORBIDDEN OBSESSION    CHAPTER 7

Evelyn's POV My heart almost jumped out of my throat when David showed up while Tommy was busy playing the blame game and now I was being dragged across campus by the hockey god of Hawthorne university. He pulled me through several buildings before finally stopping in front of the hockey arena. "No way. I am not going in there," I snapped, yanking my hand from his grasp. His smirk widened. "Relax. I'm not taking you to the locker room." I narrowed my eyes at him and gave him a dirty look. For the first time, I really looked at him up close. And Seraphina was right. He is a hella fine man, His t-shirt didn’t hide his broad shoulders, well defined upper body or abs. Why did I even care about that? I was definitely going crazy. David Hawthorne was attractive. Why was I even noticing any of this? I was definitely losing my mind. "What do you want?" I asked. Instead of answering, he started walking again still dragging me along. For some reason I didn't protest and let

  • THE ALPHA'S FORBIDDEN OBSESSION    CHAPTER 3

Evelyn’s Pov It was almost six o’clock in the morning by the time I finally returned to my dorm.
