OPRAH’S POV
“Where is that slut?!” The deep, cold voice made me freeze mid-step. The smile that had just been on my face vanished instantly, leaving only a rush of fear crawling up my spine. “Inside, Alpha,” someone answered from outside the door. My heart skipped. Alpha? Derrick? He was already here! Why was he shouting like that? I quickly hid the pregnancy test under the pillow and stood up, confusion and panic clawing at my chest. I wasn’t used to hearing that cold tone from him. Before I could even touch the doorknob, the door burst open. Alpha Derrick stormed in, his hazel eyes blazing with fury that chilled my blood. “Derrick, you are...” I didn’t finish. His hand shot to my neck, slamming me hard against the wall. My breath hitched, my feet barely touching the ground as his fingers tightened. “W-what’s going on?” I gasped, clawing at his wrist. “You have the guts to cheat on me with my guard?” he growled, voice thick with venom. His grip tightened until black dots danced in my vision. Cheat? My wolf whimpered inside me, terrified and trembling. “I-I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I managed to choke out, tears burning the corners of my eyes. “Shut up, prostitute!” he spat. The word hit harder than his hand. “Like mother, like daughter.” The words sliced through me like silver chains, cutting deeper than any blow. People in Moon Shining Pack, had always whispered behind my back, 'a daughter of an omega prostitute'. My mother had worked in a strip club, doing whatever she had to so she could feed me and my sister. But never once had Derrick called me that. Anyone could, but not him. Hearing it from his mouth shattered something inside me. “I wonder what I saw in you,” he hissed. “Was it the pretty face? The body you love to flaunt? Because clearly, that’s all you had to offer.” He shoved me away. I hit the floor hard, coughing, clutching my neck as my eyes blurred. He was rushing toward me again when a voice came from the door. “Alpha, please stop!” Beta Lucas' voice trembled slightly. “You’ll hurt her!” Derrick ignored him. He grabbed a small envelope from the table, one I hadn’t even noticed before and hurled it at me. Photographs scattered across the floor like dying butterflies. My breath caught. There I was, or rather, it looked like me, lying in bed beside one of Derrick’s guards. Liam. Our upper bodies were bare, his arm curled around me. In some, it even looked like we were kissing. The sheets tangled around us in a hotel room I didn’t recognize. I stared, my hands shaking as I picked up one. The room tilted around me. Liam. The guard who always smiled politely, who respected me when others didn’t. The only one who treated me as Luna. But this… this wasn’t real. It couldn’t be. My heart cracked in my chest, the pain almost physical. “How could you stoop so low?” Derrick’s voice thundered. “Is this how a Luna should behave?!” He looked both furious and disgusted, his chest heaving, jaw clenched so tight I could hear his teeth grind. “And don’t think I don’t know you’re pregnant with him.” I froze, staring up at him, tears spilling freely now. He knew. The surprise I had prepared for him, the life growing inside me had turned bitter in an instant. “I–It’s your pup…” I whispered. “You’re still lying?” He cut me off, slapping me so hard my ears rang. The sting burned across my cheek. “Don’t you dare deny it,” he snarled. “Whatever’s in your belly isn’t mine. You can’t manipulate me anymore, Oprah. I already know the truth.” He stopped then moved closer to where I was, making me cower away. "If its mine, I would smell it and you still have the guts to lie?" I swallowed hard. How? That was true. Alpha Derrick was aa very strong and powerful Alpha, he would have scent my growing pup even before giving him the pregnancy test results. “No…” I shook my head desperately, crawling toward him. I didn’t even know I was desperate to let him the pup was his or if I was scared that he couldn't smell his pup. “Those are lies! Someone set me up! Derrick, please...” I blurted out, my heart thudding hard in my ribcage that a cold sweat started to roll down my forehead. He slapped me again. Then again. My body jerked each time, my towel slipping as tears mixed with the blood on my lip. “Enough!” he roared. “You disgust me.” I staggered to my feet, trembling, still clutching the towel around me. My heart was racing, the air too thick to breathe. “I didn’t do it!” I screamed, my voice cracking. “I swear to the Moon Goddess, Derrick, it’s not what it looks like! You know me, I could never do that to you!” For a brief moment, he was silent. I thought maybe I’d reached him. Maybe he’d see the truth in my eyes. But then his voice came low and broken: “How else can't I smell my own flesh and blood if at all you didn't cheat on me?" The world around me stopped. He was right. How? "I thought I knew you.” The words came out with a lot of pain as he said them, making my beating heart break into pieces. This wasn’t happening. It shouldn't be happening. "D-Derrick..." But he just turned away, and the pain in his tone was worse than any slap. “I regret making you my mate, Oprah. I should have listened to my family and my pack members when they told me not to trust a prostitute’s daughter.” The words hit me like arrows, one after another. Betrayal twisted his face, and my world shattered. But I didn’t know how to defend myself. The evidence were scattered all over the room. What else could I say? For years, I had tried to erase that label, to prove I was more than my mother’s mistakes. I had worked hard, changed myself, built a life that was clean and proud. But all he saw now… was her shadow in me. “Take her to the dungeon,” he ordered coldly. My head snapped up, eyes wide in disbelief. “Derrick…” My voice broke. “Please, no…” He didn’t even glance at me. “Lock her in silver chains. And make sure she loses that… thing she carries.” The words sliced into me. I couldn’t breathe. My knees gave way. “No! Please, Derrick!” I cried, crawling toward him again. “It’s your child! Please, don’t do this!” Two guards stepped forward and seized my arms. I kicked and struggled, but their grip was iron. “Beta Lucas, please!” I begged, looking at the one man who could speak for me. “Make him understand!” Lucas’s head lowered. He didn’t look at me. “The photos say it all, Luna,” he murmured. The little strength left in me crumbled. The hope I had clung to vanished completely. From trying to surprise my husband… to being dragged through the halls half-naked like a criminal. How could fate be so cruel? My tears fell freely now. I didn’t even have the will to fight. Then, standing in the corridor ahead of us, was her. Lilith. Derrick’s ex-fiancée, the woman who had walked out on him long ago ar the altar, when he needed her the most, haz returned two months ago to poison our lives. She smiled, her red lips curving like a blade. “I told you I would ake him back,” she whispered, glancing around to make sure no one was watching. “He never belonged to you. He never did.” My throat tightened as she leaned closer. “You didn’t believe me, did you? Look at you now.” “It’s not over, Lilith,” I rasped. “Oh, spare your little strength for the silver chains,” she sneered softly. “You’ll need it. Because I won’t let you carry his pup if it’s not me.” Her words sank into me like knives. My heart splintered again. So it was her. She had done all of this. The photos. The lies. The setup. But before I could speak, the guards yanked me forward, dragging me down the corridor. My feet scraped against the cold marble. My towel slipped, and my dignity bled away with every step. As they pulled me into the darkness of the dungeon, the last thing I heard was Lilith’s cruel laughter echoing behind me, the sound of a woman who thought she had already won.DERRICK’S POVI stared at Lucas across the table. My hands rested on the wood. My fingers pressed into the grain. The decision weighed on me like a mountain."Are you ready?" My voice came out low.Lucas met my eyes. His expression remained steady. "Yes, Alpha."I nodded once. We stood together. The room felt smaller than usual. The air carried the scent of old wood and tension. I walked toward the door. My steps echoed in the quiet space. Lucas followed close behind. We stepped outside. The packhouse grounds stretched before us. The morning light cast long shadows across the grass. My wolf stirred inside my head. Kaden’s presence felt restless. He sensed the importance of this journey.Lucas fell into step beside me as we headed toward the cars. "Are you sure you want to do this?" His voice carried caution.I nodded. My jaw tightened. "I am sure."The drive felt endless. The road stretched ahead. Trees blurred past the windows. My hands gripped the steering wheel. My knuckles turned
OPRAH’S POVThe morning sun filtered through the trees as Sebastian drove us toward the address. My hands rested in my lap. My fingers twisted together. The mysterious man’s words from the gala still echoed in my head. I had barely slept. Every time I remembered how he stared at me, how he talked to me.I glanced at Sebastian. His hands gripped the steering wheel. His jaw remained set. He had insisted on coming with me. I appreciated his protectiveness, but I could not let him follow me all the way.The car slowed as we reached the park. Tall trees lined the entrance. Families walked along the paths. Children laughed in the distance. The normalcy of the scene felt strange after everything that had happened."Stop here." My voice came out firmer than I felt.Sebastian turned to me. His eyes showed clear disagreement. "I am not leaving you alone.""It is a public park." I met his gaze. "He would not try anything bad in front of so many people. Besides," I pointed at his phone that was r
OPRAH’S POVThe morning light filtered softly through the curtains as I helped Zarek get ready for school. I adjusted his little tie with careful fingers. My hands moved steadily, but inside my chest my heart raced with fear. The thought of him being away from me, even for a few hours, sent cold dread through my veins. I knew Alexander had hired shadow guards to watch over him. I knew they were the best. But still, the fear would not leave me. What if something slipped through? What if Lilith or the mysterious man found a way? I forced a gentle smile onto my face. Zarek did not need to see the terror I carried. He needed his mother to be strong."You look so handsome today," I said softly. I brushed a stray lock of his dark hair back from his forehead. My fingers lingered for a second longer than necessary. I wanted to memorize every detail of him. His big hazel eyes. His single dimple. The way he carried himself with a confidence far beyond his four years.Zarek stared up at me. His
LILITH’S POVThe door to my house slammed shut behind me. I kicked off my heels with such force that one flew across the room and cracked against the far wall. The sound echoed through the empty space. My chest heaved. My hands shook as I tore the expensive earrings from my ears and threw them onto the marble floor. They skittered away like worthless pebbles.Everything had gone wrong.I grabbed a crystal vase from the side table and hurled it against the wall. It shattered into a thousand pieces. The sound brought a maid rushing into the room. Her eyes widened at the mess."Clean it up." My voice came out sharp. "And you are fired. Get out."The girl stammered something, but I did not listen. I waved her away and walked deeper into the living room. My bare feet stepped on shards of glass. Pain pricked my skin, but I welcomed it. It matched the fury burning inside me.I stopped in front of the large mirror. My reflection stared back at me. My makeup had started to run. My hair, once p
DERRICK’S POVI stared at the man chained to the chair in the dim basement. Mixed emotions churned inside me. I did not know whether to thank the Goddess for finally getting my hands on him or fear who he truly was."Who sent you to stalk her?" I bellowed. My fists clenched tightly at my sides that I was sure they would turn pale any time.I did not want to get my hands dirty this late at night after the gala, but this man was forcing my hand."Speak!" I growled. I lunged forward, grabbed him by the neck, and squeezed. My teeth ground together. To my shock, the man broke into a suffocating laugh. He kept laughing even as his face turned red. His hands and legs remained tied, but they were shakin,, yet he showed no real fear in his eyes."I cannot believe someone is still acting like the knight in shining armor."I loosened my grip and pulled my hand away. His laugh did something to me. It made me feel embarrassed and something else I didn't want to admit to myself, but I refused to le
OPRAH’S POVThe penthouse door clicked shut behind us. The quiet inside felt almost too heavy after the noise of the gala. I kicked off my heels the moment I stepped inside. The cool marble floor soothed my aching feet, but it did nothing to calm the storm in my chest. Alexander walked beside me. His hand brushed my lower back for a brief second, steady and warm. I appreciated the silent support.Zarek was already asleep upstairs. Regina had sent a message earlier confirming he had gone to bed without any trouble. The thought of my son resting peacefully brought a small measure of comfort. At least one part of my world remained safe tonight. I took a slow breath and tried to hold onto that feeling. The investigator was already waiting in the living room. He sat on the edge of the couch with a thick file on his lap, several photographs spread across the coffee table, and a laptop open beside him. His face looked serious. Sweat glistened on his forehead despite the cool air conditioning
OPRAH’S POVI jerked awake, gasping for air that burned my lungs. My heart slammed against my ribs like a wild animal trying to break free. For several terrifying seconds, the cold, damp walls of the dungeon still pressed in around me. The metallic taste of blood lingered on my tongue. My back thro
OPRAH’S POVFOUR YEARS LATER“Oprah, the new collection contracts are ready for your signature,” Vivian, my personal assistant, said as she placed the documents on my desk.“Leave them,” I replied, my eyes still fixed on the screen.“The Voss line is already gaining attention.”“It should,” I said
DERRICK’S POV“She has escaped, Alpha.”“Who?”I didn’t need to turn. I already knew.“Luna Oprah.”For a second, just a second, everything went still. Then…The glass in my hand flew across the room, shattering against the wall.“How?” My voice came out low. Dangerous. “How did she escape?” Lucas
OPRAH’S POVI hated the fact that I still had a tiny hope that was still buried inside of me. I had tried to kill it, but it just couldn't go away. It still made me believe that I could do something to save my pup and I.With that thought, I ran my weak hand on my stomach, praying to the Moon Godde
