MasukIt's been a week since everything has been normal for a while. After I stopped reading those novels I got bored, my reading addiction got the best of me and here I am at the Coven Book Club.
Yeah, habit. I was very very antisocial so I didn't know most of the girls here and they all attended my school for the past three years.
Yep, I know, they can be a bit weird if we weren't discussing the novel we read that week. They would talk about magic, zodiacs and other stuff.
And well I guess today they were in the mood because they found something super creepy. Yeah, not my lucky day as creepy was the last thing I needed right now.
The head of the book club Brea Woodlands brought out a very old big worn out leather book, she blew dust from its thick back and said "Behold my family heirloom, the woodlands treasure." she said and we all hid a giggle trying to take her seriously.
"Focus girls!" she snapped and we got into character. "This is a spell book that has been passed down for generations in my family. My family has many relatives, witches, charm casters, heretics, sorcerers, enchantresses, mages and so on."
Now all of us were truly interested in her story, she was an excellent story teller this was why we chose her as the leader. "The brief history of the woodlands is based on prophecy. One thousand years ago, the lycans, the vampires and the witches were at war against one another, but upon the oath of one human the lycans and witches were made one against the vampires driving them to extinction..."
"But there came the betrayal of a set of witches a romance of witch and vampire that led to another five hundred year war...finally with the blood of a mortal the war was put to an end but her lover the alpha was bound to a curse, this curse is said to repeat itself one thousand years later. The War of Alpha's." She read so intensely that all of us were captivated, wanting more.
"And?" I asked the tension too much for me to handle.
"That's it, nothing else." Brea said and her twin Roxie rolled her eyes.
"Another bullshit fiction our ancestors wrote she must have been a shitty writer that's why all her books are stored up in the library decaying, what else is in the book?" she asked, typing on her phone, flipping her hair she'd dyed purple over her shoulder.
Brea arched a brow "A different language, I'm guessing their spells or something."
This made me a bit uncomfortable. "I don't think we should read that."
Everyone looked at me and I tensed up "Um, hello has no one watched that one horror movie, where the dumb cast reads a book they shouldn't and all die?" I said with my jaw slacked open.
Serena Goth and Roxie's girlfriend with pitch short hair grinned "F*cling read it." she said in excitement and I groaned in frustration gathering my bags.
"Yeah that's my cue to leave." I said but Anita, a shy , smallish , always quiet girl grabbed my arm. "Please stay, it's too creepy for me to be alone.
I bite my lip in annoyance "Stop being a p*ssy Leah besides I think we need at least five people for the ritual." Roxie said, gathering candles laughing as she arranged them.
All of them were excited except me. I was freaking panicking.
Let's make it cooler. Brea giggled, throwing each of us a dark purple blanket. "Wrap it on like a cape from those magical series." She said, wrapping hers around her.
We sat down surrounding the now lit candles, she picked up a marker "Let us begin." she announced drawing a circle according to the book she began pronouncing words that gave me goosebumps. "Blood of the dead, breath of the sea, life of the beast, spell of the wind...Et Ei...Ea...Eee!"
I closed my eyes so tight in fear and Anita grabbed my hand, we waited and waited.
Then I opened my eyes to see Roxie's smirk "See? Bullshit." she laughed blowing the candles and I breathed a sigh of relief.
"I think I've had enough of the book club for today..." I said standing up and Anita did the same.
"Yeah see ya next week." Brea said with an enchanting smile.
Was her smile always so...hypnotic?
I thought to myself as I drove my truck home.
It was dark, where was I ?
I opened my eyes, I was driving my truck a moment ago but somehow I'm back at the book club.
Only it was different, the circle earlier was still there and somehow all of us were still present in capes.
But this time it was different, like the soul in our bodies wasn't ours.
Our bodies moved in sync like a dance, I'd never learned.
Brea was unrecognizable, she held fish, lifted a knife and cut it.
It blood trailed over her hand unto the circle, she stood, bare feet and began to dance in the blood.
Her hair flew with the usual wind in the room, and our spirits moved to the sound only to be heard by spirits.
We stood up and moved, we unlocked something.
Something not of this world, spirits thousands and thousands of dead evil spirits filled the room.
They began to say the same prophecy "The blood of the human shall unleash great power!"
"Power that the alpha's shall seek, Power that the Vampires shall seek, Power that the witches shall seek, power that the dead shall seek, Power that entity and monsters not of this world shall seek. Many will die...The world will be filled with blood only the sacrifice of an alpha and the human shall stop chaos from unleashing in this world!" Their voices were one and it echoed in the earth as all the beasts came forth.
I jumped into my flesh, sitting up in my bed. My body trembled, sweat soaked my bralette even small drops of rain could be heard.
I haven't gone to the book club for weeks now, and yet nightmares plague me. I have been intentionally avoiding their call, ignoring their texts.
I'm not interested in what they have to say. I turned on the light while putting on my speaker. I played soft tunes to help me sleep.
Rolling my dark hair up my nape, I stared at my reflection. The dark circles around my eyes were telling.
As I pinned my hair tightly to my nape, I turned to retire to bed and saw something from the corner of my eye.
Fear engulfed me as I saw it, it knocked softly on my mirror and my body was paralyzed in horror.
It looked like me, wore the same clothes like me and yet it was not me. "Who are you?" I asked, I didn't dare look back.
"Oh finally you can see me, she's coming." it told me, I thought I would pass out and yet somehow I was still standing in the same spot.
"Who is she?" I asked, as I reached for a pen I could see nearby. I don't know how it would hurt a reflection but it was better safe than sorry.
She grinned at me from the window in front of me. "You." she said desperation edging its way into her voice "Won't you let me in? I can protect you?"
My eyes landed on my blanket "Don't!" she sneered and I ran grabbed it "You dumb b*tch!" she screamed as I threw it at the mirror.
It landed perfectly and my legs gave out as my bedroom door suddenly opened. My heart leaped into my throat. "Was it her?"
I spotted my sister standing sleepily at the door "Turn down the music, there's school tomorrow plus I need enough energy for halloween."
She rubbed her eyes and blinked at me "Why are you on the floor?" she sniffed "Go to bed weirdo." she said and shut the door behind her.
I released a sigh running my fingers through my hair. It loosened the bun but I didn't care, I quickly took out a tape and wrapped the mirror with the blanket on.
Deciding to close the curtains in spite of the heat, I rushed to shut them when my eyes caught something.
In the midst of the nights, within dark trees winter eyes held mine in a steady gaze.
What was he doing outside so late at night? I thought but quickly shut the windows, I grabbed a thicker blanket and put on SpongeBob on my iPad as I blanked out watching it covered up.
My head ached so bad I didn't have the energy to stand up, I was having a really bad fever.
"It's Halloween!" My sister's voice filled the hallway.
"Shut up, our I'll smack you!" Josh, our youngest, yelled the sound of his video games almost as loud as her scream.
"Turn it down you two you're gonna be late for school." My mom barked at the top of her voice.
I groaned innately, Welcome to another episode of how much I hate my life.
I did a quick hygiene since I wasn't feeling in the mood and as for a costume, well I don't have one since my life has turned into one hell of a wild ride, lately I might as well be the costume.
Great, I couldn't even look in the mirror. "Leah?" I heard someone call and froze. Praying it was not the mirror but the sound came from the window instead.
I looked out to see brown hair and sparkling brown eyes, Tucker. He raised a cute drawing that had words written on it "Will you go on a date with me today, pretty Leah ?" I read aloud.
All my neighbors, although not many since it was a small town, could see him. I smiled and nodded, then gasped as he climbed up to my window and gave me a bouquet of lilies. "I'm glad, good morning beautiful." he said.
I grinned, then unease settled in the pit of my stomach like winter in autumn, only for a brief moment then he was gone. "Something wrong?"
I shook my head, swallowing nervously, then hastily, "Nothing, everything is fine."
So why did death lurk around like piercing winter eyes?
Leah's povI pushed him off me and I fell to the ground then realized I could not stand on my own. "That was the stupidest thing anyone has ever done in history." Reuben snarled as he lifted me in his arms, this caught me off guard. He was swift, I could barely see anything as he moved out of the forest with incredible precision he stopped back at our school building. I didn't even have time to stop him. I was holding on for my life. What was this breathtaking speed? Hiding behind the building, he slammed me against the wall and it knocked the wind out of me as I threw up all over his jacket. "Let go of me!" I tried to push him off, he stepped back and I fell to the ground.Sensation flowed back into my limbs as Reuben saw red taking off his jacket. Then he took off his shirt and it knocked the wind out of me again.Sculpted by the gods himself, the novels would do no justice to how defined this man's anatomy shook me to the core. His eyes like midnight, his face and body was a wor
Leah's PovI sat in the classroom with my note book in front of me, the silence was unnerving.Almost everyone was already outside the school premises trick-a-treating. I could hear voices in the walls of the classroom whispering in my ears.Mr Alberta was watching me like a hawk, how on earth was I supposed to tell him that I could hear voices without him thinking I'm making excuses to leave the classroom. The pages of my book flipped on it's own and I held the edge of my seat for support. On the opposite side of the class the best student, Lisa Dallas sat willingly not in detention simply just buried in a book as always. She almost never says a word to anyone, my tongue was stuck in my throat and visible burn marks appeared in my chemistry text book.I held on to the table till my knuckles turned white as the word bathroom appeared on the text book in burn marks. "Excuse me sir, I have to pee."' I said nervously standing up, he gave me a look then nodded. As I navigated through
Leah's povI sat at the breakfast table lacking an appetite. "Leah are you okay, don't you like the food?" My mom asked with a concerned look. My mom who was the town sheriff, Detective Riley Smith had an eye as sharp as an eagle she'd spot discomfort almost immediately."No I..." I thought for a moment, could I ask her? Should I tell her what's going on?Would she understand? "Just school...it's exhausting." I lied through my teeth. As she wanted to probe the news caught our attention "A young man was found dead in his truck early in the morning today...this would be the first murder case in almost fifty years of Banewood Town, it comes as a shock-" "Ugh, damn it I said no reporters on the scene." My mom stood up and left the table in anger. I didn't know if it was because she was annoyed at the scene or because my dad popped up on the screen. Doctor Elden Smith, divorced my mother five years ago...I will never forgive him. I sighed my lack of appetite over taking my will to ea
Alpha Reuben's POV When I decided to return back to banewood I didn't expect my brand new car to get scratched literally on my arrival.I nearly snapped the neck of the mortal that dared to cross me, but for some reason after stepping out of my car her physical resemblance to the woman from the prophecy of blood irked me, not just that but...she looked exactly like my mate who died in our realm. Her smell was nauseating, even as I sat in the classroom. As soon as she walked in my blood stirred worse, she spoke to another man. For some reason that didn't sit right with me, since I arrived in Banewood she has been a constant plague in my thoughts. Now, I stood outside her house, lurking in the woods like an obsessive stalker. The last time I was this addicted to someone was when I united with my mate, my heart ached in my chest for her. I've thought and dreamed about killing her at least four hundred times and the other hundred times are things I do not wish to talk about. She was

Daily life of a boring human named Leah Smith. In this life there are no vampires, no werewolves, no witches, no trolls.Well except my chemistry teacher Albert tried to bore me to death with his antics, I was not looking forward to that this year. I was finally eighteen now, I guess it was time to stop indulging myself in those fantasy novels so I won't end up old with fifteen cats. I have never had a boyfriend, well mostly cause I was always busy indulging myself in the latest werewolf novel, I've read everything from teen wolf, to Wattpad, to webnovel, you name it. By everything, I mean everything and yesterday was the height of it. Getting banged by an alpha in my dream was just unreal. I sighed then suddenly stepped on the brakes of my truck. I looked up to see a sleek sports car and a very, very ethereal looking owner that did not seem happy with me."Sorry, my bad." I apologized whining down the glass of my truck. "Oh you will be very sorry." His deep voice caused my stoma
