LOGINAlpha Reuben's POV
When I decided to return back to banewood I didn't expect my brand new car to get scratched literally on my arrival. I nearly snapped the neck of the mortal that dared to cross me, but for some reason after stepping out of my car her physical resemblance to the woman from the prophecy of blood irked me, not just that but...she looked exactly like my mate who died in our realm. Her smell was nauseating, even as I sat in the classroom. As soon as she walked in my blood stirred worse, she spoke to another man. For some reason that didn't sit right with me, since I arrived in Banewood she has been a constant plague in my thoughts. Now, I stood outside her house, lurking in the woods like an obsessive stalker. The last time I was this addicted to someone was when I united with my mate, my heart ached in my chest for her. I've thought and dreamed about killing her at least four hundred times and the other hundred times are things I do not wish to talk about. She was useful to be able to gain the power to walk before the moon, I was sure that was all I wanted from her. There's no way a human would be my mate. Although it was absolute torture to ignore my need for her. I've been observing her for days now, her mother was a witch, I'm not sure Leah herself was aware but the woman was a very powerful old witch. The rituals she performed around their house were powerful enough to kill any beast that would dare barge in which is why I have been lurking and hovering around her. Leah was heavily protected, to make it worse I wasn't the only one after her. That's why I kept lurking in her forest waiting for an opportunity, a loop hole. He stood beside me, I tried not to grit my teeth and failed. "You look like you are about to rip her head off her shoulders, you must really hate her Reuben." "Leave Banewood, Cain, before I change my mind." I threatened him with a smirk. Cain's eyes widened "Oh my goodness I'm so freaking terrified Reuben, I'm gonna run now." he laughed picking up a stone and throwing it at Leah's window. Before I could control my reflexes I caught the stone and crushed it, I held back a groan of frustration "I have been wondering, why I can see obvious hatred in your eyes for the little human but you have not harmed her." Cain pinned me with his cunning gaze. My face was blank as a board, unreadable "You need her... don't you? is she your mate?" "That's why you are keeping such strict tabs on her, is she connected to the moon curse?" he said in a singsong voice like he was cracking some secret code. A smirk formed on my lips "Think all you want Cain, think with that huge brain of yours." "Well I mean, if I can't figure it out I'll simply kill her." Cain taunted me and I clenched my teeth. "You won't dare, this is my territory and you're trespassing." I sneered with authority. Now he smirked "I don't think you know Alpha Derek wants you dead...you did leave his sister at the altar." As I rushed him he caught me by the neck and squeezed, I struggled against his bone crushing grip "You are weak." Cain laughed. "You think I don't know that's why you ran away, because you know your brother wants you dead." Cain threw me at a tree, I collided with it and my ribs cracked. Cain shrugged leaning against a tree "Get up alpha Reuben, you look pathetic." I cursed trying to get up, but my ribs ached in pain "What do you want? Why are you here?" His smirk pissed me off even more. "If you are here to play your little game Alpha Cain, I am not interested." "Oh so you've heard of me?" Cain asked, surprised. My lips pressed in a thin line "Who doesn't? the rebellious alpha who enjoys causing havoc because he is bored." He clapped with amusement "I could say the same about you, Alpha Reuben the weak alpha who is destined to murder all the other alpha's and become alpha supreme one of those lame prophecies. That's why everyone hates you, over a simple joke." "That joke is the reason I am on the run." My frown darkened even further. "Because your brother was plotting to kill you at your own wedding, your life is so sad and I enjoy watching every moment of it." Cain said with every hint of fascination in his emotionless eyes. He took a step towards me and I took a step back "So...are you going to tell me, what secret you are hiding or do you need me to torture it out of you?" "I know who your daughter is." I suddenly blurted out and his eyes turned red in anger. His gait straightened to a threatening stance "How do you know that information?" Cain hissed in a dash and grabbed me again, raising me against a tree. "The same way the first time you'll get to meet her, would be a corpse if you do not drop me." I struggled in his grasp as he released me. "Who is she?" he asked with a grin creeping up his face as his stance relaxed. Breathing was still difficult as he nearly broke my windpipe, I cleared my throat "I don't know yet." His grin dropped "Do you think I will not harm your little human just to make you miserable?" We shared eye contact for a moment before he suddenly ran towards the house, he collided with the boundary flying back. Unfortunately, he landed on his feet and tried not to laugh. "You knew that would happen didn't you?" he asked in annoyance, twisting his neck. I shrugged, taking a step back "Not necessarily." Leah stepped out of the house with her siblings and her mother, she got into her truck as I quickly blended into the forest to hide from her mother's sight. The woman's old sharp eyes moved meticulously around the forest, she raised her hands and moved them over the land as her daughter drove off in her truck. The leaves lifted from the ground, she was strengthening the barrier and I quickly ran through the forest. Cain was nowhere in sight so he must have been smarter than me, quicker. Cause I began to cough up blood. There was silver in the air. Every poison that could hurt a beast covered the atmosphere, until I couldn't breathe. My vision blurred as I stumbled against a tree, spots covered my vision. My lungs constricted, I was losing consciousness. I heard a loud horn and a hard metal collide against my body. Everything went black.Leah's pov:The shock had me frozen, I couldn't believe it, denial tormented me like a repeat verse in my head. It's not possible, I was on birth control there's no way it was possible right?I sat in the hospital waiting area, it was busy but I was absentminded. Since morning I haven't said a word since the test read positive...what could I say.In school I was the ghost of myself, finals were coming and I was quietly freaking out. No one knew, no one could tell yet.If anyone noticed my life was over that's all I could think about, it was a constipated weight in the pit of my stomach unable to come out of my ass.Torn between being pregnant and struggling to meet up academically, I still didn't want to believe it. I was so careful. How did I go wrong? After school that's when I came to the hospital to run another pregnancy test. That's how I got here, the white walls were judging me. The silence of the car judged me. The murmur of students at school judge me.A young adult single
Reuben's Pov: I crouched beside the car as she fired bullets on the other side. What could have pissed her off so much so early in the morning apart from the fact that I didn't bring her daughter back home last night of course. I groaned from the pain of the silver bullet in my arm.Her first shot had been deadly, she would have killed me if I hadn't heard her pull the trigger immediately and ducked. The bullet was a different kind, it was tearing through my flesh like a drill, burning the walls of the insides of my biceps. "Stop it mom!" I heard Leah yell again as I put my fingers inside the bleeding hole, caught the bullet and pulled it out.Even as I held it it was still spinning, tearing my fingers. If this was the latest advanced technology of witches, the Werewolves are in for a lot of hell he thought. My healing was slowed down and my breathing harsh. It was likely that the bullet also had toxins in it. These witches are a menace, I groaned as I heard Riley yelling at Leah
Leah's pov:I gasped awake in a cold sweat, shaking someone's warmth pulled me into a hug. "Bad dream?" his voice was sleepy as he kissed me."How did we....where are we?" I asked, my chest was tight and breathing stressed, nausea and headache were a bad combination. "You slept off in the car." His voice was very soothing, you were so terrified in your dream. My body relaxed a bit, I nodded as he caressed my hair "What did you dream about?" I reached for my pendant "It's a weird thing isn't it? it switches its shape sometimes to humans it's a pendant, to supernaturals it's an amulet. Cool."he murmured and my harsh breathing calmed down."You have a fever, I think." He said and I nodded."Perhaps it was a fever dream." he sat up pulling me close until I was leaning on his chest."Maybe....but in that dream Abigail killed me." I said as the dream replayed in my head.Reuben's brows drew together, his facial expression hard and full of thought "That can't be good, perhaps it's time I k
Leah's pov: "Please forgive me, I misspoke." She said trembling "I really need this job please."I picked up my cutlery ignoring her, I intentionally wanted her to keep kneeling there like she deserved. And to taunt her even more, I gave a very dramatic reaction "Ahhhhhh yes, I'll be your girlfriend Alpha Reuben."The entourage of people with flowers and gifts threw petals at us, rejoicing. It was so dramatic I actually had to hold my laugh, even though I was pissed. Reuben smiled knowing my reaction was very enthusiastic just to spite her. "She has acknowledged her wrong doings Manager Quan, so perhaps a two months suspension will suffice. Since she is still yet to apologize." Her breath hitched, realizing that I hadn't even noticed she didn't even apologize "I'm sorry, I'm very sorry..." She bowed towards Alpha Reuben. He clenched his jaw looking very impatient and irritated. "Apologize to my mate and girlfriend not to me, you know what you are doing and we are not stupid either.
Leah's pov:I couldn't help but blush. He was very gorgeous and he brought flowers. "Is that ?" I pointed at it.He got shy and I couldn't help but grin at how cute he was. "Yes it's for you." he scratched his neck and I beamed."Oh thank you." My smile was too obvious, it was a bit embarrassing. "It's nothing, I hope you like it...ah your buckle isn't done." he said and went one knee, my breath actually got stuck in my lungs as he took the buckle of my high heels and clipped it.The winter evening was feeling several degrees hotter. "Okay so where are we going?" He smirked, taking my hand in his "It's a surprise." As he led me to the car my dad suddenly showed up out of nowhere with the guy I met earlier in school. Still couldn't place where I knew him from."Leah." he said, tightly eyeing Reuben up and down."Dad." I croaked as my palm actually got sweaty."And you are?" he eyed Reuben, his eyes falling on our intertwined hands."Reuben, I'm taking her on a date." He said, squeez
Leah's pov:It's been awhile since I indulged in sports, not that I was playing now either.Football wasn't just my thing, but today was a pretty interesting day. I was freezing from my bad decisions in outfits, they were in the court. Reuben and Cain were on the same team, while Tucker and the new interesting guy Christiano, were on the opposing team.Brea and Roxie were cheering among the. cheerleaders. It was crazy how they moved on like they hadn't been trying to kill me some days ago. It was super creepy. They were being friendly again at a distance, they waved at me and I waved back with an awkward shiver. Also the fact that the witches hadn't caught up with them Cain must be hard at work. It's surprising he even has time for school activities. The game kicked off and obviously Reuben and Cain were dominating the sports as expected, but Chris was keeping up with them.It got me thinking he was also a werewolf, I scribbled down in my journal as I watched passively, I also felt
