LOGINAlpha Reuben's POV
When I decided to return back to banewood I didn't expect my brand new car to get scratched literally on my arrival. I nearly snapped the neck of the mortal that dared to cross me, but for some reason after stepping out of my car her physical resemblance to the woman from the prophecy of blood irked me, not just that but...she looked exactly like my mate who died in our realm. Her smell was nauseating, even as I sat in the classroom. As soon as she walked in my blood stirred worse, she spoke to another man. For some reason that didn't sit right with me, since I arrived in Banewood she has been a constant plague in my thoughts. Now, I stood outside her house, lurking in the woods like an obsessive stalker. The last time I was this addicted to someone was when I united with my mate, my heart ached in my chest for her. I've thought and dreamed about killing her at least four hundred times and the other hundred times are things I do not wish to talk about. She was useful to be able to gain the power to walk before the moon, I was sure that was all I wanted from her. There's no way a human would be my mate. Although it was absolute torture to ignore my need for her. I've been observing her for days now, her mother was a witch, I'm not sure Leah herself was aware but the woman was a very powerful old witch. The rituals she performed around their house were powerful enough to kill any beast that would dare barge in which is why I have been lurking and hovering around her. Leah was heavily protected, to make it worse I wasn't the only one after her. That's why I kept lurking in her forest waiting for an opportunity, a loop hole. He stood beside me, I tried not to grit my teeth and failed. "You look like you are about to rip her head off her shoulders, you must really hate her Reuben." "Leave Banewood, Cain, before I change my mind." I threatened him with a smirk. Cain's eyes widened "Oh my goodness I'm so freaking terrified Reuben, I'm gonna run now." he laughed picking up a stone and throwing it at Leah's window. Before I could control my reflexes I caught the stone and crushed it, I held back a groan of frustration "I have been wondering, why I can see obvious hatred in your eyes for the little human but you have not harmed her." Cain pinned me with his cunning gaze. My face was blank as a board, unreadable "You need her... don't you? is she your mate?" "That's why you are keeping such strict tabs on her, is she connected to the moon curse?" he said in a singsong voice like he was cracking some secret code. A smirk formed on my lips "Think all you want Cain, think with that huge brain of yours." "Well I mean, if I can't figure it out I'll simply kill her." Cain taunted me and I clenched my teeth. "You won't dare, this is my territory and you're trespassing." I sneered with authority. Now he smirked "I don't think you know Alpha Derek wants you dead...you did leave his sister at the altar." As I rushed him he caught me by the neck and squeezed, I struggled against his bone crushing grip "You are weak." Cain laughed. "You think I don't know that's why you ran away, because you know your brother wants you dead." Cain threw me at a tree, I collided with it and my ribs cracked. Cain shrugged leaning against a tree "Get up alpha Reuben, you look pathetic." I cursed trying to get up, but my ribs ached in pain "What do you want? Why are you here?" His smirk pissed me off even more. "If you are here to play your little game Alpha Cain, I am not interested." "Oh so you've heard of me?" Cain asked, surprised. My lips pressed in a thin line "Who doesn't? the rebellious alpha who enjoys causing havoc because he is bored." He clapped with amusement "I could say the same about you, Alpha Reuben the weak alpha who is destined to murder all the other alpha's and become alpha supreme one of those lame prophecies. That's why everyone hates you, over a simple joke." "That joke is the reason I am on the run." My frown darkened even further. "Because your brother was plotting to kill you at your own wedding, your life is so sad and I enjoy watching every moment of it." Cain said with every hint of fascination in his emotionless eyes. He took a step towards me and I took a step back "So...are you going to tell me, what secret you are hiding or do you need me to torture it out of you?" "I know who your daughter is." I suddenly blurted out and his eyes turned red in anger. His gait straightened to a threatening stance "How do you know that information?" Cain hissed in a dash and grabbed me again, raising me against a tree. "The same way the first time you'll get to meet her, would be a corpse if you do not drop me." I struggled in his grasp as he released me. "Who is she?" he asked with a grin creeping up his face as his stance relaxed. Breathing was still difficult as he nearly broke my windpipe, I cleared my throat "I don't know yet." His grin dropped "Do you think I will not harm your little human just to make you miserable?" We shared eye contact for a moment before he suddenly ran towards the house, he collided with the boundary flying back. Unfortunately, he landed on his feet and tried not to laugh. "You knew that would happen didn't you?" he asked in annoyance, twisting his neck. I shrugged, taking a step back "Not necessarily." Leah stepped out of the house with her siblings and her mother, she got into her truck as I quickly blended into the forest to hide from her mother's sight. The woman's old sharp eyes moved meticulously around the forest, she raised her hands and moved them over the land as her daughter drove off in her truck. The leaves lifted from the ground, she was strengthening the barrier and I quickly ran through the forest. Cain was nowhere in sight so he must have been smarter than me, quicker. Cause I began to cough up blood. There was silver in the air. Every poison that could hurt a beast covered the atmosphere, until I couldn't breathe. My vision blurred as I stumbled against a tree, spots covered my vision. My lungs constricted, I was losing consciousness. I heard a loud horn and a hard metal collide against my body. Everything went black.Chapter 2Stephanie's POVIt happened again.I have no memory of what happened last night. I was lost in thought as my dad parked in front of the new school.Wolf High School... What an odd name, I thought to myself as I sluggishly got out of the car."Hey, kiddo?" I turned to look at my dad."Have fun, make new friends, be normal?..."I gritted my teeth. Yeah, that's what you tell your kids on the first day at a new school they never wanted to go to in the first place.I just glared at him."Please, Steph, I don't need to be called in, okay? Just try not to get into any fights."I flashed him a lazy grin. "Since you said please, I'll try."He chuckled. "That's the spirit."Stepping into this school was different. Everyone here seemed to be minding their business, like they couldn't give two shits about a new transfer student, thankfully. That helped me feel normal, better, as I made my way to my locker. My phone buzzed, along with the students suddenly whispering frantically.I read t
CStephanie's POV"You don't have to change my life just because it suits you. What are you running away from? What are you so scared of?" I yelled at him in anger at the news that he changed my school without asking me."Does my opinion not matter?" The painful lump in my throat hurt. "Just because I live in your house, do you not consider me human with emotions and a life, not an object you can decide what to do with?"I turned, running up the stairs."Stephanie! It's for your own good.""I can't wait to leave your house!" I barked and slammed the door behind me hard. Our life changed ever since we moved, ever since my mother went missing... Not just that, it's like she never existed. But if my mother never existed, how can I?And yet, there's no record of her. The police, the authorities—no one remembered my mother except us.Ever since I started suffering memory loss, so much that I could not remember them so clearly anymore—my mother, my sister. I was sure I had a sister too. My f
Leah's POV:I sat at the feast table, surrounded by, well, I don't know... enemies, fake allies, or once-friends.They all ate and drank, celebrating the pups I bled for.The pups they tried to kill. The pups they didn't want.It was ridiculous. I was still bleeding. My father, the doctor, said before he left that I was supposed to be dead.My blood saved me.It hurt like a bitch. But I sat at the table anyways."Let's make a toast to our beloved Luna. It is a great thing to celebrate the birth of the alpha's heir."I didn't drink as they all gulped theirs.A feast in the presence of my enemies. How convenient."I have an announcement."The hall went silent, as this was the first time I had spoken."I want to thank you all for your hospitality. It is a great honor to be crowned your Luna... but I have to go."Reuben's smile dropped. He shook his head as if to warn me.The silence was louder now."I must save my family.""You cannot leave the pack. Anyone who leaves is considered a trai
Leah's pov:I gasped awake like a fish out of water, coughing out blood. Beside me my father stood looking at me in shock forceps in his hand. Reuben had tears in his eyes and Cain's face and eyes were so red swollen like he had cried for so long."You are alive." Micheal and the nurse all said in awe. "It's her blood." Cain looked perplexed."Where are my children?" I asked, feeling something was wrong and did not hear them crying. Reuben looked at me like he had committed a grave crime "Leah!...""Where are my children!" "Reuben ordered them thrown out to sea." the nurse said and before she finished I was on my feet. "Leah..."I slapped him "Damn you! where are they?" I didn't wait for him to answer, I ran out of the room and my body didn't feel any pain. They must have given me anesthesia. How I was even using my legs or my senses were intact I could not explain. All I needed right now were the children I had fought so hard to save. What I imagined as them eating me up and
Leah's pov: "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah!" I cried out in pain, the contractions were becoming stronger. Reuben brought a bowl of ice and ointment. While a nurse gave me a shot of tetanus injection.Immediately, after the ceremony I began to feel intense pain not only in my legs but in my stomach."I told you not to touch me !" I screamed at him and my nails scratched his face."Stay still Leah." he growled at me catching my hand and pinning it against the headboard, placing a pack of ice under my swollen feet as the nurses used forceps to remove the chunks of glass, nails and coal that had pierced my feet, I hissed shutting my eyes in pain."I hate you, goddamn it I hate you." tears bit into my eyes."I know" he held my hand. "It was the only quick way to get them to accept you and crown you. If not, our children would be...""Illegitimate..." venom laced my voice "I never asked to be accepted by your people, I never knew this was what you wanted." He shook his head "Look at me, I know you hat
Leah's pov:They pulled Mark in chains battered and covered in blood.I had heard his screams all night.Although in this realm it was always night, what differentiated night and day was the color of the moon. There was a pale moon in a dim lit sky instead of the sun. And I wondered, if I lived here would I never see the sun again.A maid brushed my hair even though I had blatantly refused to be waited on."I don't need a maid.""Yes you do, you are no longer a commoner from a lowly human realm high school, you are to be crowned Luna of the pack." Lowly human realm?Reuben made it clear that I was no longer normal, or to be more precise I no longer have rights to privacy or to refuse what I don't want in their realm in exchange for a fancy crown. In exchange for power, I've always wanted to be stronger, to not be the weak girl who couldn't save her family.I should consider this an opportunity and stop sulking, but I felt really homesick. So I used my two fingers and pulled my lips
Leah's PovI sat in the classroom with my note book in front of me, the silence was unnerving.Almost everyone was already outside the school premises trick-a-treating. I could hear voices in the walls of the classroom whispering in my ears.Mr Alberta was watching me like a hawk, how on earth was
Leah's povI sat at the breakfast table lacking an appetite. "Leah are you okay, don't you like the food?" My mom asked with a concerned look. My mom who was the town sheriff, Detective Riley Smith had an eye as sharp as an eagle she'd spot discomfort almost immediately."No I..." I thought for a
