Alpha Reuben's POV

When I decided to return back to banewood I didn't expect my brand new car to get scratched literally on my arrival.

I nearly snapped the neck of the mortal that dared to cross me, but for some reason after stepping out of my car her physical resemblance to the woman from the prophecy of blood irked me, not just that but...she looked exactly like my mate who died in our realm.

Her smell was nauseating, even as I sat in the classroom. As soon as she walked in my blood stirred worse, she spoke to another man.

For some reason that didn't sit right with me, since I arrived in Banewood she has been a constant plague in my thoughts.

Now, I stood outside her house, lurking in the woods like an obsessive stalker.

The last time I was this addicted to someone was when I united with my mate, my heart ached in my chest for her.

I've thought and dreamed about killing her at least four hundred times and the other hundred times are things I do not wish to talk about.

She was useful to be able to gain the power to walk before the moon, I was sure that was all I wanted from her. There's no way a human would be my mate.

Although it was absolute torture to ignore my need for her.

I've been observing her for days now, her mother was a witch, I'm not sure Leah herself was aware but the woman was a very powerful old witch.

The rituals she performed around their house were powerful enough to kill any beast that would dare barge in which is why I have been lurking and hovering around her.

Leah was heavily protected, to make it worse I wasn't the only one after her.

That's why I kept lurking in her forest waiting for an opportunity, a loop hole.

He stood beside me, I tried not to grit my teeth and failed. "You look like you are about to rip her head off her shoulders, you must really hate her Reuben."

"Leave Banewood, Cain, before I change my mind." I threatened him with a smirk.

Cain's eyes widened "Oh my goodness I'm so freaking terrified Reuben, I'm gonna run now." he laughed picking up a stone and throwing it at Leah's window.

Before I could control my reflexes I caught the stone and crushed it, I held back a groan of frustration "I have been wondering, why I can see obvious hatred in your eyes for the little human but you have not harmed her." Cain pinned me with his cunning gaze.

My face was blank as a board, unreadable "You need her... don't you? is she your mate?"

"That's why you are keeping such strict tabs on her, is she connected to the moon curse?" he said in a singsong voice like he was cracking some secret code.

A smirk formed on my lips "Think all you want Cain, think with that huge brain of yours."

"Well I mean, if I can't figure it out I'll simply kill her." Cain taunted me and I clenched my teeth.

"You won't dare, this is my territory and you're trespassing." I sneered with authority.

Now he smirked "I don't think you know Alpha Derek wants you dead...you did leave his sister at the altar."

As I rushed him he caught me by the neck and squeezed, I struggled against his bone crushing grip "You are weak." Cain laughed.

"You think I don't know that's why you ran away, because you know your brother wants you dead." Cain threw me at a tree, I collided with it and my ribs cracked.

Cain shrugged leaning against a tree "Get up alpha Reuben, you look pathetic."

I cursed trying to get up, but my ribs ached in pain "What do you want? Why are you here?"

His smirk pissed me off even more. "If you are here to play your little game Alpha Cain, I am not interested."

"Oh so you've heard of me?" Cain asked, surprised.

My lips pressed in a thin line "Who doesn't? the rebellious alpha who enjoys causing havoc because he is bored."

He clapped with amusement "I could say the same about you, Alpha Reuben the weak alpha who is destined to murder all the other alpha's and become alpha supreme one of those lame prophecies. That's why everyone hates you, over a simple joke."

"That joke is the reason I am on the run." My frown darkened even further.

"Because your brother was plotting to kill you at your own wedding, your life is so sad and I enjoy watching every moment of it." Cain said with every hint of fascination in his emotionless eyes.

He took a step towards me and I took a step back "So...are you going to tell me, what secret you are hiding or do you need me to torture it out of you?"

"I know who your daughter is." I suddenly blurted out and his eyes turned red in anger.

His gait straightened to a threatening stance "How do you know that information?" Cain hissed in a dash and grabbed me again, raising me against a tree.

"The same way the first time you'll get to meet her, would be a corpse if you do not drop me." I struggled in his grasp as he released me.

"Who is she?" he asked with a grin creeping up his face as his stance relaxed.

Breathing was still difficult as he nearly broke my windpipe, I cleared my throat "I don't know yet."

His grin dropped "Do you think I will not harm your little human just to make you miserable?"

We shared eye contact for a moment before he suddenly ran towards the house, he collided with the boundary flying back.

Unfortunately, he landed on his feet and tried not to laugh. "You knew that would happen didn't you?" he asked in annoyance, twisting his neck.

I shrugged, taking a step back "Not necessarily."

Leah stepped out of the house with her siblings and her mother, she got into her truck as I quickly blended into the forest to hide from her mother's sight.

The woman's old sharp eyes moved meticulously around the forest, she raised her hands and moved them over the land as her daughter drove off in her truck.

The leaves lifted from the ground, she was strengthening the barrier and I quickly ran through the forest.

Cain was nowhere in sight so he must have been smarter than me, quicker.

Cause I began to cough up blood.

There was silver in the air.

Every poison that could hurt a beast covered the atmosphere, until I couldn't breathe.

My vision blurred as I stumbled against a tree, spots covered my vision.

My lungs constricted, I was losing consciousness.

I heard a loud horn and a hard metal collide against my body. Everything went black.

Abigail was super close to Reuben before he pushed her off.His lips were slightly red and she licked her lips so I would know what went down.Wrinkling my face in disgust, I looked away and focused on opening my locker. "Leah?" his voice came out breathy and I hated how angry I felt.I had no right to be angry, so I fidgeted with the key to my locker until it fell down "F*CK me!" I cursed in frustration as he bent down to pick up the keys. My lips pressed into a thin line as he held them to me "Thanks." I muttered under my breath grabbing them from him.Abigail rolled her eyes "Whatever, what a love sick puppy." she murmured then bumped into me on purpose. The keys dropped again and she smirked "Opps my bad." she walked away like she won a trophy for being

Reuben's pov "Oh so you guys are a thing now?" I said mockingly, trying to hide my anger. Why was I angry...I got distracted by her biting her lip...the utter audacity of the woman. "My bad, does it bother you cause I don't see how it's your business." she said with those huge eyes as I unintentionally towered over her. Honestly, she was pretty short or I was just too tall at six foot five. "Listen here little princess, I use this locker now, it's my business if you keep doing that in my face I'll make sure to rip out his tongue so I'll see how you'll make out with him." She scoffed at me, a bewildered look on her face "Are you threatening me right now?" "I don't make threats Leah." I knew I shouldn't be this close to her but honestly she was too appealing to resist. As I stepped towards her she stepped back, I was distracted by her scent, it was seducing me in ways I couldn't explain.I need a sip, even a drop would be heavenly. Her back collided with the locker, I placed both o

Leah's Pov It was awkward to resume school like nothing happened. Thankfully, I was on good terms with Brea, Roxie and Anita after they visited me during the few days. We somehow became friends through my trauma, I guess something good came out of it.And I finally had friends, I sighed as for the Werewolves, I was avoiding them like a plague.Except my boyfriend of course.I couldn't help but get the feeling that Serena, Roxie's girlfriend, did not like me.Perhaps it was because Roxie was showing a little bit too much interest in me but I guess she should know better since I have a boyfriend. Pulling my hair into a tight high ponytail, I was finally grateful to be able to look at my reflection again. Even though it made me uneasy that someone with my exact face who was more powerful and deadlier than me was busy killing people. The news sounded on the radio "Ten more people were killed by wild animals in the forest, the authorities have now labeled the forest as a danger zone a

Leah's Pov The sun was rising high above the cloud, its rays set on my face as I stirred in my sleep.I opened my eyes and its light pierced my iris, surrounding a person like a shadow in its blanket.Tucker was staring at me, he looked different from his cute boy persona.Changed completely, his aura was different, dark and dangerous. His brown eyes now had flakes of gold in them and a tint of red. His lashes were longer, his soft boyish features now turned to a chiseled jaw. The body that had been soft and smooth to touch, was now rough with muscle, his pale skin turned bronze, all this I saw from the reflection in the mirror because his back was too me. Solid and ripped with muscle, my eyes drank him hungrily. He was so different from last night, in only jeans shirtless and barefoot. He looked so good it was like I was staring at a whole different person. As my eyes met his, a hot blush spread on my cheeks and his amused dimple made it even worse. "Enjoying the view are we?" I

Cains Pov If not for those blasted witches, I would have caught up with Reuben by now. They were annoyingly very powerful, I had to blend with the trees.Today was one of the longest nights. They cast a blind spell on all of the human race and would perfectly complete the ritual in a week of the blood moon. Contrary to belief the blood moon in the werewolf realm and blood moon in the human realm were quite different. In the werewolf realm it was a single day, 76hours of hell being hunted down by the witches. But in the human realm it was far worse, it was seven nights of hell and this was the first night. In these nights beasts and creatures of all kinds would be resurrected that would plague the human race for a hundred years before the next blood moon. A very specific ritual is done, which manifests the energy and blood of the witches. The creatures they kill soak the earth in the form of a spell, triggering the awakening of a demon we would fight till eternity. That was why

Leah's PovThe sound of gunshots made me stir, I opened my eyes to see my dark surroundings. I was leaning against a tree, opposite the house. At the balcony, my mom had a rifle aiming at something. My eyes followed her aim to see Reuben, or more like his shadow, dodging her shots. They seemed to be having a conversation but my ears were ringing so loud, I had to shut my eyes as she released another perfectly aimed bullet and it pierced into Reuben's knee. "How dare a beast like you show your face in my territory." she growled, releasing more bullets."Forgive me, she is my mate!" Reuben insisted. My mom aimed for his head "Treason! I will have you executed!" I wondered why they were speaking in an old language structure. My limbs were limp, I tried to speak but no words came out.Twisting my body, I fell to the side. With the support of my elbows. I crawled on my belly just as her silver bullet grazed the side of his scalp and he screamed.I couldn't see him, so I guessed he wa
