CHAPTER 4: RESTLESS WOLF

Darkness covered the sky, the moon shone brightly in its glory. Distant howling of wind could be heard, the trees swayed left and right. The weak ones uprooted or bend into an undescribable shape.

The he stood, his half dressed he was shirtless. His raven black hair shone brightly under the moon. It was combed back nicely and flowed down elegantly to his broad shoulders. The darkness of his hair was such a contrast to his pale smooth skin. The sharp lines of his face and his slightly hollow cheeks gave him a predatory look, but his well defined lips and long thick lashes was what every woman would want to have a taste of.

He stood there in deep thought, his presence alone caused the night creatures to cower away in fear. The ocean shook its waves splashing and spreading over its surface. Unending, it formed thin lines as they galloped upon the starry sky. The moon reflect deeply into the ocean.

Harvey

Although, he knew he hadn't asked her name himself but he knew that was her name when he went to her mind earlier today. She is his Mate, human. Life really took a toll on him or maybe Nature. Weird, Life and Nature what was the difference between them.

He knew that one day he will take responsibility of being mated to someone but he hadn't really think it will be a human. He found his other half in a woman, now this was really nature at work. He didn't really know if it had reward him or curse him. That is nature, it is either you're blessed with it or you face its wrath.

Thinking of Harvey, he teleported back to the room arranged for her and couldn't found her there. Alarmed, he followed her scent and it led him straight to his garden.

He found her bent down, caressing the hibiscus flowers in the garden, using the tip of her fingers, she flung her hair backward. He quickly made himself invincible so he could watch more of her. He seemingly for he interesting to watch as she feel the life in the flowers.

She stood up and straighten her gown, then suddenly she tripped and fall. Damien didn't know the force which carried him with immediate effect and she was in his arms the next moment with her eyes closed. She anticipated the fall already.

Pain! Pain! Anguish!

Was all I felt that moment.

My heart felt heavy, crying won't reduce it. I didn't know I would get to a point in life where feel so helpless. When I thought I had finally gotten over my Father, then he came into the picture wanting to claim me also.

Mate!

I'm his mate, I was chosen for him by some goddess. Weird, this was all not right.

"What if I don't accept?"

She remember asking him earlier then and for a moment she felt she could see a swirl of emotions but the next moment it became expressionless and harden even more that she felt frighten a bit but there was something about him that made her calm and secured. In all those years, she has never feel secured with men because she believes they were all the same. But this man her made her feel better, she didn't know what was wrong.

Maybe she had to find somewhere else.

"I'm not really forcing you. The consequences are severe but it doesn't affect you because you're a human."

He stopped looking at her intently more of like he was studying her or he was looking into her soul.

"But it does affect the wolves, we lose our sanity or probably die because it's rare for wolves to survive the pang of being rejected or separated from their mate."

His expression harden as he said those words.

This was probably worse than she thought, all that was going to happen to him. Alarmed, she said,

"No."

Suprised but she couldn't retract her words, he was suprised also but his expression hardened again. Was he always like this, she thought.

It was late she go, straightening her gown she stood up but she swirl. Oh God she was falling she closed her eyes anticipating for the fall but it seems to drag longer. She never fell instead a pair of strong arms grab her waist suspending her midway.

She opened her eyes and found that eyes which brought her some strange feelings. Feelings she couldn't tell, those eyes now looked silver not blue anymore. Strange, weird and yet she fell into them again, that face, that spicy scent which emanated from him.

"You're not sleeping yet."

Even that voice, she could tell it was hypnotizing yet calming for her. It brought her feelings that words can't perfectly describe it.

"Yes."

Was her short reply.

"Come with me please."

He said reaching his hands which had left her before, she gracefully took it.

They reached the other part of the garden and Harvey was struck in admiration again, this was some natural and it feels heavenly.

He made a chair for her to sit on, he sat before her. His gaze unfading in her direction.

"Were you planning away to run away."

Even though he tried to conceal it but he couldn't mask the hurtness in his voice.

"No."

She said at that moment her mind went blank.

"Don't lie to me, you're free to as long as you're safe."

He said now with his expressionless face.

"No."

He asked still staring at her.

"Because I can't run away from my mate, I am yours."

Was her simple yet complex reply. She was also suprised at her own words but she wasn't the type who would lie to others what she felt. She spoke from her heart directly but she wasn't ready to accept it was her heart that felt that. Maybe a slip of tongue, she foolishly thought.

"I am yours."

Those words rang in his ears, he was suprised also and went into her mind to confirm but found out her mind was blank but he felt something.

What was it he felt, no. It can't be, only two feelings are strong enough not to be heard but felt.

LOVE and HATRED

One stronger than one.

But what was it she felt?

Right now, he was restless. His wolf is restless disturbing him, he couldn't take her there. Those words were enough to awaken his demon desires.
