-ALPHA KAIUS POV-

“Greetings your majesty,” I heard her voice from the bathhouse. It was crystal clear to my ears. What is she doing here?

Another came on. I have no intention to open that door for her. “Stop it, Magnus! You’re being too happy again! Stop it!” I slammed at Magnus who seems not to learn how to keep his excitement.

I hate it so much when I have to share in this! No! Before I knew what was happening, I already heard a crack on the door…she stepped in.

I opened my eyes. “If clumsy is a person.” I rambled, got out of the bathhouse and grabbed a towel around my waist.

“Who let you in?” I asked. I appeared fast behind her. Leaning in to her torso…I could hear her loud heart beat.

“You keep crossing the line. Death is what you keep wishing upon, isn’t it?” I didn’t let her speak when I appeared at her front.

The scent grew wider.

Magnus lost it. He took control! “Magnus wants to taste you so badly,” I heard myself saying out. That’s-that’s not me! Magnus! Stop it!

I lean in, going for her lips. I-

I shut Magnus out with all of my powers, I can’t let him manipulate me into kissing this wit. I locked him out of me for a while, I was back in control. “What the!” I exclaimed and pushed her away as far as I could.

She was shocked. Her eyes were popping out. “W-what…?”

“What are you doing here?” I asked not minding the shock in her face.

I heard her hiccups, “I-(hiccups) I- (hiccups)” She was nervous.

“Talk or walk out,” I instructed, already heading back to my closet to pick out a robe.

“I want you to come to the dinner this evening, it’s the first gathering as a family-“

A scoff escaped my mouth, did this lousy lady say family? “I’m sure your maid would have told you I don’t attend such. Go, I don’t have the energy to explain that to you,” I snapped.

She persisted. She wasn’t moving.

“I-I- have to bring you, the queen mother instructed me,” She insisted, her eyes searching for my mercy.

Sorry, you won’t find.

“Who’s bigger between I and the queen mother? Me. So, I’m telling you to get out while I’m being lenient,” I blurted out, pulling out a dark robe.

She was still standing.

“Then, I will tell everyone that you’re not cripple! That you’re pretending!” She yelped. Her eyes holding both confidence and fear.

What. Audacity.

I smirked, “Is that supposed to be a threat? Did. You. Just. Threatened. Me???” I asked, my face turning cold instantly.

“Yes. My maid life is at stake if I don’t bring you. I don’t want anyone dying because of me. If that sounded like a threat, your majesty, I’m sorry but yes,” She included.

“You think you can win? No. What if you tell the council and I manipulate you into thinking you’re the one insane? I’m a master of manipulation, young lady,” I told her, she raised an eyebrow.

“W-what-“

A step closer to her, “What if I turn everything you saw about me a dream? That will only leave you insane for years,” I whispered, followed by my weird smile.

“But—“

“While you still exist, don’t ever threaten me again. I will let it go because you’re an amateur. Get out, now.” With that she rushed out.

Me? Threat? That’s too much of audacity, isn’t it?

EVENING

-ADELAIDE POV-

The dinner was incredibly silent. I could hear it if a pin drops. I ate in silence. I don’t want to meet the gaze of the queen mother. Sheila. “You failed one task as the Luna.” I heard her say.

“I’m sorry—I persuaded him but he refused to join,” I defended but I could hear her scoff.

“Are you telling me you can’t do that simple task? What are you the Luna for then?” She added, a mockery laugh escaped her lips.

I pressed my lips together trying not to get swayed by what she’s just said. She’s not Kauis real mother as I heard, maybe that’s why her hatred for me is so huge.

Oh. She and Kauis aren’t on good terms too.

“I will go again-“

“THERE’S NO NEED. I’M HERE.”

His voice stopped me. I could see the tiny shock written over the queen mother. Kaius was standing a bit far from the dinning, Rafeallo beside him.

My face lifted up. I was happy. He came!

He reached the dinning, He glanced at me then back at the queen mother. “Why do you keep pestering the young lady? Stop it already. If you want me to come here, send one of your maids not my Luna,”

Chapter 137 What Broke Me Kaius’ POV My eyes were burning and I didn’t even know when the tears came, but they were there. Hot and heavy. Blurring everything in front of me. Still, I didn’t look away. I kept my eyes on her. Rey. She was right in front of me, staring into space. My jaw tightened and my chest felt too tight, like something inside me was breaking. Of course, it was. I couldn't deny the fact that she had taken away everything I thought I knew and I couldn't protect them. “You..” I muttered, my voice low and shaking as memories flooded my head. That night, Paula had come running and had told me Adelaide was gone for a week. That was the moment everything started falling apart. I didn’t even think twice that night, I went somewhere I always avoided, because I hated remembering how I failed to protect her. I went to Raine’s chamber. I had left my cloak there the night before and I wanted to pick it up. My steps had been slow that night, like I already

Chapter 133Too Late to Turn BackKaius’ POVI stayed there on the floor, alone with my thoughts, unable to run from them anymore, because no matter how far I tried to push everything away, it'd come back.I moved from the floor and went over to the table, tapping my fingers on it.The sound of it filled the room, over and over again, but I didn’t stop. I couldn’t stop. It was the only thing keeping me from losing my mind completely. It was quiet outside now, I had instructed the guards not to allow anyone in and not allow anyone walk casually.I didn’t want to see anyone and I didn’t want to hear anyone, because I already knew what they would say.I clenched my jaw and leaned back in the chair, staring at the table in front of me. The wood had lines across it and old marks. I focused on them, trying to think about anything else, but my mind didn’t listen and it kept going back to Adelaide. I wanted to shift a bit, so I wouldn't go crazy, but it wasn't working. I kept seeing her any
